  1. Just googled and found it on eBay quite cheap. Peter.
  2. HI Wasi, and welcome to the club. I used to have an x type 2.5 V6 Petrol SE and the maximum I ever got from it around town was around 24mpg and 35 on a long run. My son has just bought an X Type Sport 2.0D Estate on a 06 plate. I researched the engines and in my opinion the best engine to give good economy around town was the 2.0 litre diesel and also very good on long journeys. I also think that 17 inch wheels give the most comfortable ride, and if you can get the SE with as many bells and whistles on you will get a good car. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Joseph, and welcome to the club. Those members who have the pleasure of owning such a great car will give you lots of good advice. Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Malcolm, and welcome to the club. Tyres can be expensive! I found a survey that had been taken some months ago that covered noise, wear and stopping. On my s type I had Pirellis on 18' wheels and found that they were quite noisy. The survey indicated that the two best all round tyres were Goodyear Eagle XL in the top spot, and Vredestein coming a close second. I had the Goodyears put on the front and find them first class. I will put Goodyears on the back when the Pirellis need replacing. My car is the S Type diesel and although having great acceleration is certainly not a XES, but having been on the road for over 60 years I would not expect any tyres to suffer damage from minor potholes --- I have had two major ones and replaced tyres, but quite a few minor ones that have caused me to check my tyres, but never found any problem. Tyres can be a personal choice, but having to change/replace tyres after 6000 miles, I also would question the fit for purpose of any tyre that needed replacement so early in their use, especially when the driver is as experienced as you are. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Ian, I have a 2.7 litre Diesel S type auto, and about 9 months after I got it, I had it terra cleaned. The difference I saw was immediate, with both improved performance and better economy. The best I have had on a long run was 53 mpg on a 90 miles drive on dual carriageway and the M1, the latter being limited to 50 mph dues to road works. The round trip was 46 mpg, and I didn't hang around. I also use Wynn's Diesel engine cleaner every 3000 miles, which is about twice a year and the best quality Diesel fuel. Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the Club, Steve. That is a very good buy and a nice car. I think it is also rather quick! Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Ian, I have done this on my s type, using a small version of the Leaping Jaguar. They come in a pair and could be used on either side of the bonnet by the repeater, but I preferred just the one on the boot lid. Embellishing a car is personal choice. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Chris, I have just googled "Turbo parts Birmingham" as I thought I had seen an advert recently. There are quite a few places so I would suggest you do that and find one that you call into depending on your location. Let us know how you get on. Peter.
  9. Hi Alan, and welcome to the club. I had an s type 2.5AWD. A great car to drive and hold the road as if on rails. You will enjoy it! Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Iain, At a guess, if the old XF wheels are the same size I would say they would fit. A lot depends on whether you want a spare wheel to match the ones on the car. I used to have a Rover Sterling that had a spare wheel that was a plain steel one. It was only on my car for an afternoon once in over 11 years. Peter.
  11. Hi Iain, and welcome to the club. My S Type has a spare wheel with a matching Alloy --- the previous [first] owner specified one when he bought the car. I do know that there are quite a few wheels that you can match with yours that you can find on the internet. To pick out one myself I would need to know what wheels and tyres you have on your XF. I am sure you will find one more reasonably priced than one from a main dealer. Regards, Peter.
  12. Welcome to the Club, Bill. I am a fan of memory seats, as when my car goes in for service, I can always put it back to where it was. Also, when I am vacuuming it out it is good to move the seats to get underneath the. Rewards, Peter.
  13. That is curious, Neil. I will listen out for such a noise. It could still be something to do with the climate control, as it continues after the engine has been switched off. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Jim, and welcome to the club. There always seems to be a huge price variation on eBay. To find out what a Jaguar Genuine parts would cost, try the David Manners Group who have a great online catalogue. You can then compare that price and the part number with those on eBay. Regards, Peter.
  15. HI Alan, When I first got my s type after my x type was carjacked, I found out that the main dealerships would charge £69 for a diagnostic test. I thought £20 for an OBD2 scanner was cheaper! Regards, Peter.
  16. HI Alex, and welcome to the club. You could try the websites of the David Manners Group, who have a great online catalogue, or SNG Barrett. At worst they will give you an idea of the prices. Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi Ian, You could list that dealer in recommended garages in the Jaguar Owners Lounge. Peter.
  18. Welcome to the club, Jamie. I think someone with the appropriate knowledge will be along, but at a guess, I would say that it would need reprogramming. There is a very good independent expert in Doncaster listed in the Jaguar Owners Lounge. Regards, Peter.
  19. Welcome to the Club, J. Good answers already given. I think you will find the club members rather friendly and helpfu. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Keith, Try the David Manners Group or SNG Barrett. Peter.
  21. Hi Neil, Could the noise also be described as a gurgle? If so, it is the climate control and nothing to worry about. Peter.
  22. Hi Chris, I had a paint protection on my car when I bought it in June 2013, and all I use is two bucket full of luke warm water, then a good shampoo [i use Autoglym], a rinse off with luke warm water and then dried with a Halfords drying towel, buffing down afterwards with a microfibre cloth. It is coming to the end of the paint protection guarantee and I am now going to give it another paint treatment myself, saving a few shillings. The main thing is using plenty of water to get rid of any surface dirt before the shampoo. Regards, Peter.
  23. Jaguar discontinued fitting of fog lamps on the S type in 2007, so that is a job I will never have to do!
  24. Hi Chris, I think mine is a 2012/2013 and it appears to be the last one produced for the S Type system. Peter.
  25. If you put in your Car's Reg Number, the Opie Oils site will indicate what oils you will need. They will also be able to sell you the kit you need for the change. Peter.
