  1. Hi Andy, Raistlin [Paull is on holiday at the moment but he will be back! Brilliant at retrofitting. Peter.
  2. Hi Stan, I have heard that there is a way of removing sensors without removing the bumper. I think it involves gently prising them out, but I wouldn't try it without getting some advice from someone who has done it. Peter.
  3. A Dealer will take your vin number and give you the specs as it left the factory. Peter
  4. Hi Abbas, Adding to what Garry has said, it is always worthwhile to check out the battery. A member last year bought an S type which had a battery on it that would have been good on a mini. Jaguars do need a big battery. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi, Barrie, Nice place, nice car, and I hope you soon bet the hang of photos! Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the Club, Andy. We lived in Dronfield Woodhouse for12 years, and our two sons went to St Mary's in Chesterfield. I can understand getting burnt out by the pressure that you get with teaching --- I lasted two terms before giving in my notice! You experience and advice will be very helpful to the members of the club. Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Mark, I have heard that it is possible to remove the sensors without taking off the bumpers. I have never needed to do it, however, but there might be someone who has. I hope that someone who has will tell us. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Andy, Most cars do not like being left doing nothing. You have a long job ahead and I would like to watch the journey. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Alan, and Welcome to the club. The Park assists are useful but still need care. I swing my car round on the drive so that I can drive out into the road, and I get the front beeps as I get close to the hedge, and then the rear beeps as the boot gets close to a wall. Enjoy you Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Barrie, and Welcome to the Club, I too have the odd problem or three in regards to posting pictures for some unbeknown reason. Something should have popped up. It hasn't so I will try again. I am now going to click on my media at the top of the page and see what happens. It appears to have taken its time. Peter. You can also look at More Reply Options at the bottom of the page.
  11. Hi Ben, Use premium fuel. Short answer, but a performance engine needs the good stuff. I like whiskey [and whisky] -- but only single malt and triple distilled. Peter.
  12. Hi Everyone, Remember this number as it will entitle you to the JOC discount: 2176155. The final details for the meet are as follows: The list of attendees is in the previous post, and it is important to let either Paul of myself know if you are coming but not on the list. We have reserved parking and we will have to inform the museum if there are more coming than listed. It is also quite important that I know the number of cars attending, as I have prepared a small and rather amateurish booklet for each of the members attending. This booklet will have a number on the back page. We have got some sponsorship for the meet from Opie Oils and the David Manners Group, plus some other small items. There will be numbers drawn out of the metaphorical hat and if the number on the back of your booklet coincides with the number drawn out, you will win something. Paul and I will be in the Car Park from 10.00 am on the 19th, and we each have a card on the dashboard indicating who we are, and it would not be a bad idea if everyone attending could do similar on an A4 sheet --- marker pen would be OK. There are some roadworks around exit 12 of the M40 and Sat Navs might not be that useful for the last half mile. The Museum is well signposted, however. In the event of the weather being inclement, Paul has arranged somewhere where we can meet around 12.30 pm. Paul and I are looking forward to the Meet and the opportunity to get to know you all. Regards, Peter.
  13. ALL ATTENDEES PLEASE NOTE: THE LAST POST BEFORE THE MEET WILL BE TODAY WITH ALL THE FINAL DETAILS. Peter.
  14. Hi Abbas, and welcome to the club. The meet is very much so on, and Paul [Raistlin] posted the detail earlier this week. I will be putting a post on the topic today with some of the final details. [Paul is on holiday]. The details should be noted as there is a reference number you will need. Regards, Peter.
  15. I once saw a Triumph Herald with a GT badge on the back. The herald was a good car -- my first -- but with 1200 cc and a top speed of 86 mph, was certainly not a GT.
  16. Hi David and welcome to the club. The s type is a great car, both in looks and drivability. My only headache with s type is that the words "Slow Down" comes from the passenger seat :D Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi Ben, and welcome to the Club. Check out the battery first, as Jaguars do like a good battery. If the car has been standing for some time, give it a good charge. If that is OK, try looking for codes if you have an OBD2 code reader. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  18. Not at all, Susan. The Club prides itself on being a friendly group of people, with only one thing in common -- we love our Jaguars. Regards, Peter
  19. Nice experience, Susan.
  20. Hi Ken, I think you will find that there are about 30 companies across the Black Country making various bits for both engines and body components of most of the cars made today. Peter.
  21. I think he is correct, Ken. Car manufacturers do not necessarily build their own engines. From 1946 onwards till being sold off to the Germans, Rolls Royce used Buick Engines, and I once had a Rover 218 Diesel with a Peugeot engine. Morgan used Rover engines at one time, and my s type diesel has an engine built as a joint venture between Ford and Peugeot. Ford engineering and technology is pretty good, and some of their parts are shared with Jaguar and can be cheaper. Peter.
  22. Hi Andy, I am not very technically advanced, Andy. The link you put up gets the search facility that I used. Peter.
  23. Hi Andy, Not the site that came up for me, but almost identical and does the job required. I had code P0402 come up, and although I knew what it was I wanted to show my grandson how to find out what the code meant. And it produced a very good write up. Regards, Peter.
  24. Hi Gary, and welcome to the club. I think that there is a classic car club that is worth looking at. I have seen E Types advertised and you will get a good idea of the price that they go for. You could also put it in the "for sale" forum here, with the words "open for offers". Good luck. Peter.
