  1. Thanks Robin. We haven't got any locally, and breakeryard did not come up with any. Amazon have some up with a pair for £14.99, so I have settled for them Peter.
  2. Welcome to the Club, Scott. My update for the S Type was the last one they made for the s type, so in 10 years time I will be using a 12 year old map. But on the other hand I will be well chuffed if I am! Regards, Peter.
  3. I bought a full set of Genuine Jaguar Mud Flaps [aka Splash Guards] two years ago for £50. Unfortunately the front offside one has either fallen off or been borrowed. Has anyone got one they don't want? Regards, Peter.
  4. I got my update disc for £29 from a company called SatNav Updates. It worked fine. Peter.
  5. Hi Wayne, and welcome to the Club. It certainly looks like a genuine disc, but if it doesn't work on your car I would try it out on someone else's car. Where dis you buy the disc from? Regards, Peter.
  6. Good luck with that, Paul. I have seen a diagram on how to do it and it looks straightforward for an engineer, but there are a lot of screws to look out for. Regards, Peter.
  7. Thomas has tried it out, Phil, and there is also another member who has tried it out on the autobahns. But, as I have always said, your car, your choice. Peter.
  8. Hi Simon, You have tried everything, so I would guess that the message centre is thinking that because there is no reaction from the bulb in the boot when the boot is closed then the boot must still be open. I know that sounds peculiar, but sensors are not human! Peter.
  9. Anyone need this for a hen party or a wedding car? Peter. Two pictures for some reason!
  10. That is very strange, Andrew. It worked great for me. The other bet is to try a main dealer and tell him that vin number and see if he can do it. Peter.
  11. My iPhone would not work the other day, but I had forgotten to switch the bluetooth on. When pairing it I was very surprised as it only took about 5 minutes, in contrast to the last phone [samsung Galaxy] which involved a new SIM card and a visit to the Apple Shop in Brummagem. Peter.
  12. After reading al the comments, and additionally seeing both the pictures and Paul's in situ, I am now waiting for the stick on version for £16.99, thanks to Thomas for the link. Peter.
  13. Hi Nigel, I think that there was no market for an s type estate in the USA where a large number of s types were sold. The x type estate was the option offered by Jaguar. I have seen a picture of an s type stretch limo, though. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Andy, On the bright side, it would have cost you more a month ago! Peter.
  15. Hi Andrew, and welcome to the cub. I think that starting at the beginning is the best option. There is a site called VinDecoderz.com which should give you the details of your car when it left the factory. Let us know how you get on, as you have a very interesting topic before you. Regards, Peter.
  16. The green R badges came from the Factory, Simon. I think that Jaguar felt that the R badge and the 280 bhp engine didn't need another name!! Regards Peter
  17. Welcome to the Club, Eddie. Join a few more happy people! The S Type is a great head turner and a joy to drive --- fast or slow! Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Nina, and welcome to the club. EGR valves con get sticky and sometimes a good blast can cure it. The S type has two and I use Wynnes EGR cleaner which is quite cheap - under a tenner at Halfords. There is also a fuel system cleaner which could deal with the glow plugs, but I would recommend having a terraclean service which cured a similar problem with his x type 2.2 litre diesel. Check it out on the internet. It worked fine on my 2.7 diesel. Main dealers look at your wallet/purse before looking at the car! Regards, Peter.
  19. Yes, Julie. I was serious about the mouse. Recently a member had a problem and found that a rodent of some kind had chewed through some electric wires. If you car has been standing a while it is open house for small animals. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Joan, and welcome to the club. I think that you can download some s type owners manuals --- just google s type owners manual. The cam belt does not need changing till 105k miles. The 2.7 litre Gemini Diesel is a very good engine, but it does need a good run once a month or so to ensure the DPF is regularly regenerated. I gave my car a terraclean service [just look it up on the internet] and it really did enhance the engine performance. There is a nice day out at the Heritage Motor museum at Gaydon [near Coventry] on the 19th September, with over 25 cars [with occupants] coming. A good day out! Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Simon and welcome to the club. Jaguar did indeed make an s type sport, and that included the V8. How you have described the car indicated that it is a Sport R. I am assuming that your car has the 4 or 4.2 litre V8 engine, which would make it a rather quick car. Regards, Peter.
  22. Hi Julie, White smoke from a diesel can sometimes appear on a cold start, - not unusual. It could be coolant leaking and being burnt, which could account for the smell. Look for leaks and check the level. Hope this assists, Peter.
  23. Hi Julie, I take it that there was no message/warning light. The handbrake on the 1999 s type is not the electronic one, and if it was released properly it should be OK. Was the car rolling OK when in neutral? But, and being absolutely serious, small animals/birds have been know to nest or get into cars when they have been sitting for a week or so, and if the wheel was not hot, you might have been cooking a mouse!! I will check on the white smoke and get back to you. Regards, Peter.
  24. Welcome to the club, Steve. Russ is quite correct. My S type 2.7D [07 plate] - heavier car than the Petrol versions - has 31 psi all round, and if you want to drive at over 100 mph you should increase the tyre pressure t0 about 38 all round. My tyres are also the same as Russ has. Also, following what Russ has said, my temperature gauge also sits right in the middle. Regards, Peter.
  25. Hi Nigel, I think that the headlamps might need cleaning. Halford do stock a headlamp cleaning kit. Peter.
