  1. Welcome to the Club, Keith. We make some very nice cars in the West Midlands, don't we! The club is a very friendly group of people who just love their Jaguars, old and new. Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi David, The ZF gearbox is supposed to be sealed for life, but many owners have changed the oil at around 70k miles. There is no dipstick for the gearbox. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Dave, It would be nice to have another Lancastrian in Gaydon, It will be a good day and I hope your car is is working well! Regards, Peter Lancastrian in exile.
  4. I found getting the lid off quite easy, although it could be that the lid on mine had been taken off regularly. Peter.
  5. Hi Michael, Having tried everything, have you tried erasing the codes on your OBD2 scanner? It sounds a bit daft but it might work. Regards, Peter.
  6. Nice, Paul. It is possible that that piece of soundproofing/insulation keeps my engine warm overnight. Peter.
  7. That is useful to know, Garry/Ian. There is a list of recommended independent specialists in the Jaguar Owners Lounge, so could you add them to that list with their full address and contact numbers. Peter.
  8. Welcome to the club, Mark. I am sure Mark [bertieboy] is right. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Mark, When I lived in Yorkshire I had 9 Ford Escorts [Company Cars] with the 1.3 engine. I found that it was one of the best ovens on the road. Having to travel up to Scunthorpe regularly and down into the Nottingham area, I got fed up of taking sandwiches and looked for another solution. So Chicken drumsticks & thighs, sausages, pork chops etc would be wrapped in foil and put into a Cadbury's Fingers Tin, and held in place on the exhaust manifold with a straightened out wire coat hanger They would be beautifully cooked in two hours. I was thinking of writing recipes for cooking in the engine bay of cars. Peter.
  10. Hi Mark, Mine is a bit noisy at first, but you can adjust the fan speed. Once it gets to the right temperature is is very quiet. Regards, Peter.
  11. Hi Dave, email Steve Barnes: steve@jaguarownersclub.com He will sort it out for you. Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Donald, Try the David Manners Group, SNG Barrett for new ones, or BreakerYard for used ones. Regards, Peter.
  13. Hi Garry and welcome to the club. I have also found that in the engine bay of my s type, [2.7D] and my previous x type 2.5AWD. There is quite a big engine sitting in the engine bay and well insulated, so I don't think that there is a problem. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Paul, I don't think diagnostics is too popular a subject. I thought of downloading the software, but I would also need to get a programme on my Mac to be able to use it. It does seems very useful, though and a bit better than my £20 OBD2 Code reader. Peter.
  15. Hi Tony, I hope someone with a E Type reads this. Won't an S tyoe saloon do!! Regards, Peter.
  16. It should be, Chris. It is good stuff. But if you want a definitive check from the experts have a look at Opie Oils Website as you can put in the car details and they will tell you the oil best suited. Regards, Peter,
  17. Welcome to the Club, Alan. I will have a look around and get back to you. At the moment leave the posts where they are, but when you want to sell the Perseus 20" alloys, there is a forum for members to sell item such as you have. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Chris, That is the oil I use [as recommended byJaguar] in my 2.7D. Peter.
  19. Hi Charles, and welcome to the club. I have had a look around and find that there are quite a few places you can get them for just over £100. The x type 3.0 litre was very popular in the USA and Canada, so don't be surprised when googling that a lot of American sites pop up. Have a look at the David Manners Group, SNG Barrett, and Car Parts. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Joan, and welcome to the club. The short answer is "Yes". They will take a bit of printing off, but Sainsbury's have a great deal on paper at the moment!! Regards Peter.
  21. Hi Ken, I recently got a part there for a member in Loughrea and delivered it to him when on holiday in Co. Galway. Can't resist going back to our roots now and then! Regards, Peter.
  22. Hi Chris, The egr blanking on the s type depends a lot on the year of the model. I have not had it done on my car as it cannot be done fully. I would not bother too much as a can of Wynns egr cleaner does the job. There is a garage in Northfield that specialises in Jaguars and is cheaper than the main dealers . Have a look at the list in the Jaguar owners lounge forum on the site and it is listed there, Regards, Peter.
  23. I don't think it does assist the warm up, Paul. I think it must be about noise. The S Type has an auxiliary heater that assists the warm up in cold weather. A guy I knew who worked for Peugeot when they were in Coventry told me that muffling the noise of the diesel engine was one of the important factors in design. Peter.
  24. It's getting me thinking again, Paul. Is it a stick on? Peter.
  25. Hi Dave, I guess no-one has dome that small job ---- yet. Regards, Peter.
