  1. Hi Paul, I wil certainly be there at 10.00 am, but I think the actual meet up of the JOC will be around lunch time. Paul [Raistlin] and I will be having a chat tomorrow. Regards, Peter.
  2. Welcome to the Club, Neil. I am no engineer, but I have heard that the colour of the smoke can give a clue to the issue. I am wondering if a Terraclean service would be of use. Check it out on the internet and see what you think. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Garry, My EPB has done it a few times. The cure I used was to disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and then reconnect it. You will have to make sure that you know the radio code, as you will have to reset everything. You might not have to bother with a garage at all. Just another question that is not necessarily related --- Is the battery in good condition as they start to fail when the are about 5 years old. My car's battery was replaced when about 5 years old. Let me know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Benj, Loss of power could be the coil pack - but that is a guess. It could also be that the fuel system is a bit mucky. Try a quick fix -- there is an engine cleaner addictive from Wynns -- Halfords stock it. A Terraclean service might also do the trick. Let us know how you get on. Regards Peter.
  5. Curiously, Paul, I tried to organise a meet at the same venue last year and only got 5 people interested. There have been a lot of new members in the last 6 months, and quite a few from the Midlands. Peter.
  6. Welcome to the club, Nick. You will find some very expert and knowledgeable members here who will assist you. I don't get oily hands any more, -- I just enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards Peter.
  7. It is looking like 30 + at the moment, Paul.
  8. There will be quite a few around, Andy -- but the more the merrier. Regards Peter.
  9. Hi Robert, I am unsure about cleaning the cover but I am sure I could find something in the laundry room aka my wife's office. She always gave me some concoction and a brush. There are several re waterproofing products available in places like Milletts, which I have used in the past. Regards, Peter.
  10. It's a long way to Scotland from Wales, Tom. :)
  11. Welcome to the Club, Antony. When I read your post 5 minutes ago I was going to say you would get some help -- but you already have! On the Haynes manual front, there is now one for the X Type. They might even do one for the S Type in the future. Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Ken, I found Ian's post very useful and have printed off the instructions and keep it with my Owners Manual. Great advice from Ian. Peter.
  13. Hi Janis and welcome to the Club. Jaguars do depend a lot on the Battery, and it worth having it checked, though I think that that will not solve the problem Sensors are there to protect the engine from damage and when they start to fail then limp home mode will always come on. If you can find which one it is that is the start point. I don't get oily hand any more, but there are several XK owners who know their way round that engine. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Susan, You will soon get used to the site. Don't worry if it seems a bit slow on occasions. Regards, Peter.
  15. Welcome to the Club, Kerry. Members have cars from the E Type to the F Type, an I think there will be a few XEs coming into membership soon. They have one thing in common ---- they love the Jaguar Experience. Carry on enjoying! Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Ken, and welcome to the club. Key fob problems often get lots of answers, but the best solution is to get a good auto locksmith who will programme the key fob to the car. That will be much cheaper than a main dealer. Just google auto locksmith and you will find one. There are several in England, and the mobile ones appear to be quite good. Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi Adrian, I had my car terracleaned a year ago, and it made a great difference, both performance and in MPG. The mechanic also advised that I should use premium grade fuel, which I do. The best mpg I have had was a 90 mile trip to Sheffield on the A38 and M1 mostly at 50mph due to roadworks on which I got 53 mpg, and the round trip was 45 mpg without mush speed restriction. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Paul, I think it was Adamesh, -- I just googled and found it. They come in a pair, and I think they were originally intended for either the front wings or just behind the rear passenger windows of the XJ. I gave away the one leaping left to right. They do look better on the boot lid, and the size is just right for the S Type. Peter.
  19. HI Eddie, I would guess that it is the battery starting to wear out which is a bit early for a 2011 car, but they have been known to fail when they are about 5 years old. I would have it checked out. I have never had a problem with the DPF, and although I do mostly short runs, I do manage a 20 minutes run, after the engine has got to normal operating temperature, trying to keep the engine running at around 50 mph. I have heard that Royal Mail Van Drivers have a day a month in the garage during which they run their car at higher revs to clean the filter. Regards Peter.
  20. Welcome to the Club, Adrian. There are several members who are experienced in retro fitting and who might be able to help. A good auto electrician should also be a good point to start and much cheaper than a main dealer. Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Ian, and welcome to the club. Karl has located it for you. It is also very nice to see another member from Ireland -- a growing group, and I hope there will be an Irish Meet up sometime. Regards, Peter.
  22. Welcome to the Club, Phillip. I am thinking along those lines, too, especially with a 15% discount from Halfords. My car had the Supa Guard treatment two years ago and it is supposed to last 3 years, an so next spring I will be giving it a spring clean!! Regards, Peter.
  23. Hi Paul, I have thought about this too over the two years I have had my s type, but eventually I decided that I would follow the new Jaguar design and have one on the boot lid, Peter.
  24. Hi Dave, I first saw the Lake District in 1946, - camping in Ambleside with the Scouts. Since then I have walked over the fells from one end to the other, cycled and motorcycled over the roads, went there on our honeymoon, and visited on many occasions. When we had the caravan we went at least once a year. Once you have seen the Lake District, you are grabbed by its splendour . Peter.
  25. Welcome to the Club, Anth. The Jaguar experience is one to be enjoyed, and I hope you make the most of it. I was told when I got my first one that I would never have another brand. True!! Regards, Peter.
