  1. Hi Jimmy, Adamesh is good company. I thought, though, that it was the module you are looking for. That link looked as it is just the sensors & rear bumper. Have a good look on their website. Regards, Peter.
  2. Welcome to the Club, James. The XK8 is a real classic Jaguar, and is still a head turner. I hope you enjoy it, and enjoy the club. Regards, Peter.
  3. Paul will put your name on the list to ensure we have enough reserved parking. Peter.
  4. Hi John, I don't know the part number, buy try ringing the David Manners group and there could be someone who will. Let us know how you get on. Regards Peter.
  5. Yes, Ian. And he will fit it for you at a good price. Peter.
  6. Hi Jimmy, I have had a good look around the internet, and the lowest price I could find using that part number is £95. I tried the David Manners group and SNG Barrett with any luck. I would try Breakeryard who will circulate breakers who might have one and contact you. I have used them before for odd bits. They are OK. Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Adrian, and welcome to the club. Sharing experiences is what the club is about -- good ones and annoying ones! I have the 2.7 diesel and found that the terraclean engine treatment worked wonders. Well worth the £120 cost. On a cheaper note try the Wynns diesel engine cleaner which costs under a tenner and lasts for 3,000 miles. A club member who lives locally to me had the X Type 2.0litre diesel which refused to start when hot, and he was told that the glow plugs and injectors need replacing. £1200 at the local main dealer. He had the terraclean service and it cured the problem! Regards, Peter.
  8. Having read this topic before I changed my 'phone from a Samsumg to an iPhone6 [Virgin Media] I wondered if I would have any trouble. When I got the 'phone on Thursday I found that the sim card was not only keeping my number as requested but it appeared that they had also "unpaired" my old 'phone from the car. It took less than two minutes to pair my iPhone! Peter.
  9. Hi Dave, We had a week in the Lakes last years for my 80th Birthday. The weather was good and it was so enjoyable taking a Jaguar over some of the passes! Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Mark, You can get very good oil advice from Opie Oils --- just have a look at their Website. Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, David. I don't get oily hands any more, having a very good mobile mechanic who I have used for years, but there are quite a few S type owners who have done this work and will advise. Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Dave, and welcome to the club. Both the diesel engines fitted to the x type are well tried and robust engines, so personally I would not have any qualms. Having said that, I had a 2.5 AWD Petrol manual and found it rather good, and a very good road holder. On a long trip I was getting around 35 mpg driving steadily and about 24 mpg on shorter trips. You can find some reasonably priced parts for the x type, and some Ford parts are compatible. There is a JOC meet at Gaydon on the 19th September, and there will be quite a few X Type owners there. Regards, Peter.
  13. Welcome to the Club, Steve, The x type is a very nice car, and the diesel is quite economical. There is a JOC meet at Gaydon Heritage Museum on the 19th September which will be quite well attended. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Dave, I was advised to use the premium diesel and with a Shell Station 400n yards away --- it is also the cheapest in the area -- I always use Shell v power, and get about 42 mpg on a mixture of long and short runs. Peter.
  15. Hi Colin, Phil has told you the first choice for a park brake fault, and if that doesn't work you might have to have a look underneath to see if any mechanical bit is broken. Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Mark, Sometimes I let Morgana do the business on the A38, but only when the Speed Controller is not on the passenger seat! Senior drivers are sometimes much maligned, but generally we are quite skilful, just rather relaxed at times. I still do a bit of work --- I am a Pension Trustee -- which I find keeps the brain active, but I am not allowed to get up on the roof to do the painting any more! Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi James and welcome to the Club. The x type is a very nice car and surprisingly economical with the diesel engine. If a parking sensor is not working, switch on the ignition [not the engine, though] and put the car in reverse, and then listen to the sensors till you find the one that isn't working. Then take it from there. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Susan, and Welcome to the Club. I have never seen a white XJS -- it must look great!! You will find the members here very helpful, and I hope you enjoy the club. Regards, Peter.
  19. Agreed, Paul. Suggest go out, buy some bottles of Pedigree, Take the car onto the nearest dual carriageway and cruise at 55 mph for half an hour, enjoy the drive, get home and say "that was great" and have a beer or three. But not every day! Peter.
  20. Hi Mark, It is great for us oldies to see young men [and women] achieving what we only dreamed of when we were your age, I was 78 when I got my first Jaguar and I still have no ambition to get anything else. I was driving when there was no upper speed limit and know what it is like to cruise at 120mph on some of the quiet road we had, on my motor cycles. I still have the urge to let the 2.7 diesel do its business, and the skills of speed still remain, although the brain says "lay off." But then, I am only 81 and still feel young enough, Regards, Peter.
  21. I saw one that colour 15 minutes ago coming out of Sainsburys. There are a lot of S types [inter alia] in Sutton Coldfield! It looked rather good. Peter.
  22. The David Manners Group are very good for Jaguars. They ship parts all over the World. As well as that they are giving some sponsorship to the JOC West Midlands meet. Peter.
  23. Yes, Not only was George a Jaguar lover but a kind man. When I was a student at Henley Management College one of the Admin Staff lived next door to him, and he always cut her lawn when he was cutting his.
  24. Vredestein were second after Goodyear for performance in the wet, David, so they must have got better. Goodyear Eagle came top in a recent survey, which I had a look at as I was about to buy two for the front prior to MOT. They are much quieter than the Pirellis I had on. I will be putting two on the rear wheels in due course. Peter.
  25. Hi Joe, The movements to ban diesel are really rumours encouraged by those who think petrol is the way ahead. Diesel is much cheaper to produce and with the modern additives put in by the suppliers give a far better fuel consumption than petrol, thus producing lesser pollution. If you then add that to the improvements under EU Legislation which the manufacturers have to abide by ,the diesel car is a much lesser polluter. A well maintained diesel car is a very safe bet! Regards, Peter.
