Hi Gary, I forgot to mention the topic "blessing or curse". There are quite a few drivers who prefer the manual gearbox. As I said before, there are no exact statistics that I could find, but certainly there are not many 2.7D with the manual gearbox, as the ZF 6 speed auto box is very suited to the big diesel. I have no problems at all with driving a manual -- my 2.5 AWD petrol X Type had a manual 5 speed gearbox -- but getting a bit older and being used to automatics since I retired, I looked for an s type with an automatic gearbox, and after about three weeks searching I found what I wanted, and never came across an S type diesel with a manual gearbox. There is a market for "stick" driving and I am fairly certain that if your are happy with a manual gearbox, the rarity element will be an asset when selling the car. And one smaller little bit you should need to know is that the second turbo kicks in at 2,000 rpm and if you want to drive quickly a manual gearbox can keep both turbos spinning easier than an auto, and will still let you drive economically. Regards, Peter.
