  1. Hi John and welcome to the club. I too like the looks and specification of the F Type. There are two driving around in this area, one red and one white, and I do like the one in white. There is also a Lamborghini and a Maserati in the locality and neither look a patch on the F type. Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi Alan, and Welcome to the club. I have had a good look at that site and it does seem rather good, Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Peter, and Welcome to the club. First, you can get a new disc for your model, which I did, via google/amazon which is the 2011/12 disc for about £30. You may also be able to download the Touch Screen manual again via google. When you get used to it, the Sat nav is quite good, and Doris [the Lady in my SatNav] took me through the centre of Dublin a week last Friday without a problem, even though they have no post codes in Ireland. If you can't find a download I will copy my manual and send it to you. Doris will take me to Welwyn tomorrow and it will not be more than 120 miles. I think the distance to Chigwell is possibly that your settings are a bit awry. Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Terry, Your car looks rather nice. I saw one with trade plates on yesterday, and some new owner will probably enjoying it tomorrow. Regards, Peter.
  5. Welcome to the Club, Ian, The ZF automatic gearbox is supposed to be sealed for life, but many members have found that a gearbox oil and filter change at about 75k miles is very beneficial, Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the Club, Roy. You will enjoy the Jaguar experience, and I hope you will enjoy the Club. Your car looks rather good! Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Mike, The first thing I would do is check your battery. An S type needs a battery about 95 AH and they usually last about 5 years. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Paul, and Welcome to the Club. There is a list of recommended Garages in the Jaguar Owners Lounge Forum on this site. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Adam, I think you have the right diagnosis. Jaguars like the correct battery. 80ah or 85ah. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Chris, I would tend to look for an auto locksmith who will do the job at a fraction of the price of a main dealer. Peter.
  11. Hi Andy, Welcome to the club. Ron has pointed you in the right direction. I tend to use a pice of wood and a gentle tap with a lump hammer! Old habits die hard! Regards, Peter.
  12. There was a dealer in Coventry advertising last year cam belt changes for an s type. However, I think the price could well have been nearer £500 under normal circumstances. I guess an independent garage would charge about £350, but that is stll a guess. Peter.
  13. Welcome to the Club, Terry. Tha Jaguar experience is is rather nice and the S Type is the best car I have ever driven. They tell me that the XF also great, and so I am waking to see some reports about the XE. We make good cars in the West Midlands. Regards, Peter.
  14. Hi Richard, The last ones made to suit the XJ and S type are the 2012/13. Regards, Peter.
  15. Hi Adrian and welcome to the club. On the s type, whose engine is the one that was uprated for the XF, a change of cam belt should be done at 105k, The XF is a rather good car, and with a FSH could be a good purchase. But it is worth checking if the owner would knock off about £350 for the cost of a cam belt change. Regards, Peter.
  16. My passenger side wiper is also the same. I happened to be in Galway today and saw an S type parked by the main Church and his was the same too! It was also the same colour as mine [indigo Blue} Peter.
  17. Welcome to the club, Nick. I do like that keyring and I have not seen any like it. I will have a look around. Regards, Peter.
  18. Welcome to the club, Dennis. You will be able to get an update disc just by looking around on google. I got a 2013 disc for £30 from a company called SatNavupdates, and it works well. It took me through the middle of Dublin on Friday night, and across to Galway on the next day ---- and Ireland does not have Postcodes!! Regards, Peter.
  19. Welcome to the Club, Adam. The x type Jaguar is a great car, and while quite quick is very economical. There is a West Midlands meet on September 19th at the Heritage Motor Museum, where you would be able to meet and chat with like minded members. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Paul, I forgot to sat that when the warning light comes on and Code P0402 is revealed by the OBD2 scanner, all it means is that the valve is closed [sticky] and the computer is telling it to open and it will cause no harm to the engine. Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Paul, You have to remove the air filter, and spray directly into the air intake. You have to get the engine up to operating temperature and keep the revs over 1200 and under 1500. I have had to use only three in 2 years. Regards, Peter.
  22. Hi Paul. You cannot fully blank off the EGR valves on the s type, due to the electronic system of operation. I have heard that doing a partial blanking is not that advantageous, and personally I wouldn't bother. If a good blast doesn't clear them, Wynn's EGR cleaner does the job successfully. Regards, Peter.
  23. For some reason Diesel is priced at 121.9p a litre in the UK, and petrol at114.9p a litre. I have just fill up in a village called Balinderreen in Co. Galway where petrol was 1.459 euros a litre and diesel 1.319 euros a litre -- roughly 99p, and Ireland appears prosperous.
  24. Hi Mike and welcome to the club. I would not be inclined to disconnect the security module, but rather go the route of getting a new key, and then see how it goes. Regards, Peter.
  25. Welcome to the club, Gordon. I had a similar X Type to yours. It holds the road perfectly, and was described bu some alleged expert as "nippy", which is not the right term for a Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
