Welcome to the Club, Nigel. The first thing you need to know is that Jaguars are very good cars. The Club works and assists others by those who do get involved and share experiences, and you will find that the members are a friendly and helpful group. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Tony. Electrical work is a bit mystifying to me, but while you have got the door card off I would look at connections and possibly try a bit of general lubrication on the mechanism. Members more expert than myself will be able to assist. Regards, Peter.

Hi Simon, The terraclean service is something every modern car owner should think about, particularly with the diesel engine. I first saw the product on Wheeler Dealers, and basically is is a process that cleans out the fuel system -- Google it and you will see the video. I had it done last year and was pleased with how much better the performance and the mpg was. In the last 6 months I have averaged about 40 mpg, with mostly shortish runs, and on one long run from Birmingham to Sheffield with a mix of motorway at 50 mph for road repairs I got 53 mpg. It cost me £114 and I used a mobile Terraclean operator - James Price - who did it on the drive. Regards, Peter. PS. There are discussions about a West Midlands Meet for JOC members being planned. It would be nice if it happened!

Hi Jonas, and welcome to the club. The XF will take 20" wheels and they look very well indeed. Some drivers, however, feel that the smaller wheels give a better ride. and tyres are less expensive. Regards, Peter.

Hi Jim, Disc pads warning I treat exactly the same as low fuel warning. If you get a low fuel warning your engine can stop, and if your brakes stop working, your car may not stop. Add that, worn pads can damage discs which are most costly than pads. I would check them out. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paul, Six is not too bad for the first week --- there will be some members who have not seen your post yet. But the West midlands is halfway to everywhere and there will be some members from a bit away. Peter.

Hi Gwyn, and Welcome to the club. Just enjoy your car and don't think about the costs. It may surprise you that if you have a good look around for serving etc it will not be that expensive. My 8 year old S Type has just passed its MOT without even an advisory & has had a full service and oil change and all filters changed with all other fluids changed too. Total cost £240 --- and the oil not used given to me! I did not use a main dealer!! Regards, Peter.

Hi Graham and welcome to the club. There are a few XJ owners of that era who will be able to assist, and a few members who are expert in electrics. On the question of the aircon Jaguar advise that it should be run all the time. When I switch the engine on I often get very hot air for a minute or two. It is worth trying that before anything else. There are several meets currently in the planning stage, and there are always one or two in Brighton every year. Regards, Peter.

Hi Nick, and welcome to the club. My mobile mechanic, unfortunately, only works in the North Birmingham area, and is very busy. He says it is too time-consuming to work outside the area. Hi did my service including an oil change today -- £180. I do know of a garage in Atherstone called Spanners who are also quite good. There is a Midlands meet currently being organised and you will see it on The Jaguar Owners Lounge. No date or venue has been finalised but I do know of another Nuneaton Member who will be going. Regards, Peter.

Hi Greg, Steve Barbes - Admin - will be able to help you.: steve@jaguarownersclub.com Regards, Peter.

Hi, Try the David Manners Group or SNG Barrett. Both are quite good. Peter.

Looks good, Paul.

Morgana is already registered as mine! Re prints -- I had a app called "Paper Print" on an old phone of mine which would take your photo and turn into a paper sketch. Peter.

I was going to put a picture on but for some reason it would not let me do it. I have never had any problems before with my MacBook. Peter.

Hi Louise, There was a recent survey on tyres and Goodyear came out on top especially for stopping n the wet and quietness. Never be too picky about tyres. Always get the best you can, which are not necessarily the most expensive. I have used Pirellis for some years but they have not moved on too much, and in the last couple of months I have fitted Goodyears to the front, and have really noticed the difference particularly in quietness. They also meet the EU future noise requirements. Go on to Halfords website ---- Just type in "Tyres" and you will get a screen on which you can type in the Car Reg and take it from there. I paid £245 for a pair of Goodyear 18" Eagle Asymmetric tyres. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Hi Mark, I am seeing my mobile mechanic on Thursday, and will tell him about your interest. Regards, Peter.

Hi Andrew and welcome to the Club. If the paintwork is still under warranty, I believe that you can arrange to take it to a more convenient dealer. But when you say rust I think that the bonnet is made out of Aluminium, and possibly the boot lid is also, so it must be something other than rust. The bonnet on my s type is made out of Aluminium, and I do know that Jaguar have been moving to all aluminium bodies. But do check with the dealer from who you bought your car. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paul, I think there ought to be a West Midlands Meet. You do get a discount at the Motor Museum at Gaydon if you have 30 people attending, plus dedicated parking together. I tried for a meet last year but unfortunately there were not enough members to make it viable. If you want to go ahead and have a go there are now quite a few more members. Other venues could also be considered. Regards, Peter.

Hi Phillip, Drilling holes in the bonnet does put me off a Leaper for the reason of drilling holes and secondly the possibility of injuring someone. I have heard that there is a stick on one somewhere out there. I was In the David Manners warehouse last week and only saw the screw on one. I did an alternative by putting a small leaper on the boot Peter. P1000300.JPG

Welcome to the club, John. There are quite a few XK owners in the Club. Just after we got the s type, my wife said she preferred the XK. I had to point out that we needed 4 seats as the Grandchildren are growing up! Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Colin. The only thing I can think of is that the steering wheel needs aligning with the wheels. I had the same issue with a Rover, where the wheels were perfectly aligned but the steering wheel was a bit out. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paul, The name does not ring a bell, I'm afraid. When I was 56 I became a Member of Tribunals [now called Assistant Judge] and retired at the compulsory age of 70. Regards, Peter. -
Good point Darran! But I do like to buy things we make in Britain, and the nearer to home them make them, the better as far as I am concerned. The spec of your car can be found [if you are lucky] on vindecoderz.com It should give you the factory specifications. Jaguar do have a large range of optional extras, and specifying all of them will cost somewhat over £20k. When I bought mine two years ago I went looking for a list of extras I wanted on the car, such as a proper spare wheel, CD interchanger, touch screen, with 'phone connection etc. on top of the SE spec. Luckily I got all of them on the colour I wanted. Regards Peter. PS -- I am in Sutton Coldfield.

Hi Paul, For some time my knowledge of Employment Law saw me as an Advocate representing people at Employment Tribunals, and my style of questioning got me the soubriquet after "Rumple of the Bailey" played by Leo McKern. Peter. -
Welcome to the Club, Michael. I am no engineer, but I would guess that if the level of the fluid is OK, and there are no leaks, then something is not working properly, and I think it could be the pump. I had the power steering start to fail on me in a Rover, but I found a leak and the whole steering rack had to be replaced [under warranty]. Regards, Peter.
