  1. Just one letter wrong Kenny, and predictive text did the rest.
  2. I use a mobile mechanic, Mark but he only works round Erdington and Sutton Coldfield. But I will ask him when I next see him However, there is another mobile mechanic based in Aldridge who I have used for a terraclean service, Just Google James Price, Mobile Technician/mechanic.
  3. Hi Mark and welcome to the club. The car you have when built was the fastest road car Jaguar had produced. I will look out for you knocking around, as there are not many 4.2 models around, Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Julie, and welcome to the Club. The S type is a great car, and as Sir William Lyons said "Grace, Space and pace." I worked and lived in North Wales for 8 years when there was a big Steelworks in Shotton, an know the area quite well. I hope you will enjoy the club --- I know you will enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Craig, Before I had Jaguars I have a Rover 825 Sterling for eleven and a half years. I am in Sutton Coldfield, but originate from Lancashire. Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the Club, Craig. I was told when I bought my first Jaguar, an X type 2.5 SE, that I would never buy another make of car. It was true, although I was 76 at the time. I will look out for you in the area! Regards, Peter.
  7. S Type Jaguar Cup holders for sale!
  8. So many members with S Type are solving issues, so the machines have been talking to each other and inventing things to exercise our minds. For instance, why does my amber warning light come on and a message comes up saying a service is due in XXX miles. It then goes of. The puzzle is why is the mileage different every time, not going down but going up and down? I think my theory is correct ---- March of the Machines! Peter.
  9. Good question, Gary. What I think you ought to try is the Radio presets. This will enable your first choices. Look at page 12 on the quick start manual. What I do is let the whole lot come up and pick the one I want. Jaguars want you to see everything they can find! Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi H and welcome to the club. I don't get oily hands any more, but I hope this helps, Regards, Peter,
  11. Hi Graham and welcome to the club. We have a similar choice of car, and a great car it is. Sir William Lyons designed the first S Type and described it as a car "with Grace, Pace and Space" and when you have driven it for a few weeks you will agree with him. The club is a friendly place and sharing experiences is what it is all about. Just Enjoy, Regards, Peter.
  12. Agreed, Andy. Engineers know what they are talking about, while accountants look for the cheapest option. When the two agree, it is usually the correct option. Peter.
  13. Welcome to the club, Phillip. You are moving in the right direction. I have not had an such problem though. I hope it come out OK, because the S Type is a great driver's car. Regards, Peter.
  14. Forecourt fuel is better than supermarket fuel generally speaking, Better additives in it. With my S type being a 2.7 diesel I tend to Shell V power as I get a better mpg and the car is smoother. You car will run quite well on forecourt regular petrol, but a tankful of the special stop once in a while will do it a bit of good. Peter.
  15. I have thought about installing one myself, Sacha, but the idea of a trailing lead puts me off. Peter.
  16. Welcome to the club, Dave. It comes across that you like your S type !! Great. I always wanted one myself and when my X type [great car, too] was stolen my wife said that we could turn a disaster into an opportunity. I hope you enjoy the club as much as you enjoy your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  17. Welcome to the Club, Gary. Sharing experiences is a valuable part of the Club and of great assistance to other members. My S type is one of the last to come off the line, and is a 2.7 Diesel. The 3.0 litre engine is a tried and tested one, and most of the S Types exported to the USA had this engine and about 100,000 of them are across the pond. Some members have checked the sills of their cars and found some rust under the covers, which are easily removable. Another minor issue is that thee can be a water ingress into the boot which if your car is parked on a slope, left to right, will run down towards the battery. Cleaning the rubber seals can help, and several pieces of kitchen tissue can also act as a safeguard. Having done the cleaning bit quite thoroughly I don't seem to get water in any more. The only other issue I have had is the electronic handbrake sticking in cold weather. This can be rectified by disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes or so which will reset the computer. Easy enough to do provided you have the radio code handy. The s type is a great car, hold the road well and cruises beautifully on long journeys. I would recommend the best quality fuel, too, rather than supermarket fuel, as a performance car needs the best. Enjoy! Regards, Peter.
  18. Predictive text has a lot to answer for!
  19. Hi Gary, Quite a few X type drivers have done this to their cars and have been quite pleased with the result. But as I have done it myself maybe some outhouse who have done it will advise. The s type egr valves cannot be fully blocked fr some abstruse electrical reason, Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Michael, I think that there is a company that makes performance parts. But first try Googling "Performance exhausts" and I think it will come up. Peter.
  21. Just done it, Paul.
  22. Hi Gary, I would reset the computer. You have two trips -- I leave trip A to accumulate the total and reset trip B every time I fill up. Regards, Peter
  23. Welcome to the Club, Paul. There are a lot of very friendly and informative people on here, and will assist when possible. Regards, Peter.
  24. I will look at that too, Mike!!
