  1. Hi Kellie, and welcome to the club. I think the quick answer is "No". Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi James and welcome to the club. The Diesel engine in the XK is a slightly improved one and is similar ro the 2.7 diesel in the S type and earlier XF. Tell the dealer that the diesel engine has a belt and the petrol engine has a chain. You could also tell him that there is no charge for that information, Regards, Peter.
  3. Welcome to the club, Rob. I have had my s type [2007 2.7D] for seven years. Like you, I wanted an s type for many years but I was hindered by a shortage of cash, then buying a house, and then luckily having company cars for 29 years. A great car to drive. A little advice was given to me, and I will pass it on to you, as it works for me. Always use premium fuel which is good for the engine. I also use an additive, Millers Diesel Eco plus every fill up, which keeps the Diesel Particulate Filter and the EGR valves clean. I am told by an AA engineer that the 2.7 diesel would like a 40 minute drive every week which keeps the battery well charged. Batteries on the s type last about five years, and if not kept charged the electronics in the s type will give you a bit of trouble. I think you will enjoy the s type - Grace, Pace and Space, Regards, Peter,
  4. Hi Dan, I was born in Widnes, and my wife is from Liverpool. My work took me from the town in 1967, but I still regard Widnes as my town and Liverpool as my City. I used to be a member of Liverpool Catholic Ramblers. Regards, Peter.
  5. I have had my s type 2.7 Diesel for 7 years and have never had the engine overheat.
  6. Hi Daniel, and welcome to the club. You will enjoy your Jaguar. I wanted one when I saw a friend in Sefton refurbishing a Mark 1 in 1963. It took me 50 years to get one! When I was still living up North I knew a Mike Marsden-- Any relation, though he would be about 85 now! I am now exiled in the West Midlands but just 6 miles from where your car was made. Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the cub, Mark. My s type is a 2007 2.7Diesel as yours. I have had it for 7 years and, as you, very few problems. Great Car! Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Andrew, My book took two years and a bit, and that was before it went to the printers. I am well retired and have the time. I had a classical education and did Greek till the O Level & Latin till the A Level [with Distinction], which I found very useful to a point and totally useless in the Steel Industry. I did enjoy putting the odd quotes into reports, though. It used to get the boss somewhat annoyed, but as they say, Sit semper sum paratus. [be prepared]. Just a bit of fun! Regards, Peter.
  9. Welcome to the club, Andrew. Nice opening post! Arma verumque cano is not to bad either! I was also a musician and I have just finished writing a book, so we will understand each other. [Look into "Transporterama"] The s type is a great car and a pleasure to drive, Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Craig, When I got my s type 7 years ago the owners manual told me that the headlamp washers only worked when the headlights came on. The lights on the s type have an automatic function. I would guess that the XKR has the same. Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the club, Margret. I have never come across this fault [yet] . I am not a mechanic and my toolkit is an adjustable spanner and a lump hammer. I can only think that the temperature setting is not doing its job, or that the valve somewhere in the system is faulty. Hopefully there will be members who know how the system works and who will assist you. I am surprised that the garage you went to were unable to solve it. Regards, Peter.
  12. I guess that you are only looking at the F Pace Forum. The F Pace is not one of those cars you see very often on the road, and consequently there are not many in the Jaguar Owners Club. To be exact there are only 61 F Pace owners in the F Pace Forum as against, say the S Type, where there are 15,152 members. There are umpteen other Forums in the club where every Jaguar models are discussed as well as topics not concerning Jaguars but discussing matters concerting cars, traffic, roads etc. I have been a member of the JOC for 7 years and I do not think that the JOC is either a waste of time or even dead. I think there are many members who will agree with me. Peter.
