Hi Dan, and welcome to the club. I am somewhat mystified, but I have seen somewhere that when this happened and the car was going into limp mode that the culprit was a faulty sensor. Perhaps there will be other members who will be able to help. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Mike. Battery charging: My s type Owners manual says that you should disconnect and remove the battery before commencing the charge. And then connect to the positive and negative leads to the respective terminals. I have only had to charge the battery once, and being as it is stuck in the boot and quite heavy, I just connected the charger leads to the battery and switched on. I charged for about 20 minutes on quick charge which had it fully charged. Had the battery needed a longer charge I would have taken it out completely as instructed. When using the jump leads, the positive lead should connect to the positive battery terminal and I believe that the negative terminal should be connected to a suitable earth point in the car. Regards, Peter.

Hi Luvneet, and welcome to the club. There is a topic in the Jaguar Owners Lounge on the site where you will find a list of recommended independent garages. There is also a club member in Greater London who is the owner of a Jaguar Specialist garage. I would avoid having to pay £140 for an hours labour at a main dealer when there are garages just as good who charge much less. The s type 2.7D is a very good car and all it needs to keep it happy is a good run and a blast or two now and then, and remember that the engine does not like supermarket fuel. Regards, Peter.

Hi Mac There are a few sites that quote part numbers, although some of them are from the USA. Try JagBits UK or Just Jags. I am no expert but I would expect items such as CD interchangers to be similar across years of manufacture, bearing in mind that with the s type, x type, and XJ, the models with the touch screen have the satnav disc holder in the same compartment as the CD interchanger. Petr.

Hi Paul, I must stand corrected re the seat heating on my S type. The cushion part of the seats is heated but do not seem to get as hot as the squabs. The heating itself is an optional extra, and apparently body heat will prevent the heating from working. I usually wear a jacket in the winter and obviously don't use the seat heating when the weather is warm. I don't know about the x type even thought I once had one. Regards, Peter.

But those cars you had, Trevor, had ALL the bells and whistles. On the S Type SE heated backrests are not even an option. Peter.

X Type 2.0d manual estate (06) - Turbo problems / Vibration
Old Peter replied to londonimp's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
Hi Dom, If you need to have to get a new turbo charger try TurboActive. Some good advice, though from other members. Regards, Peter. -
Hi Lucasz, and welcome to the Club. If you are passing through Balindereen in June, look out for my S Type. She will be there in the third week of June. I will look out for a white X Type --- there are not many around. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paul, The heating is for the seat squabs only. I have had three cars with heated front seats and none have the backrests heated. Peter.

Hi Paul, Being as your car is a 2007 model I would guess that there would be the proper wiring connections where the CD would be. I think it would be quite an easy operation to undo the liner in the boot to check that out. You could cut out the necessary space, but I would be inclined to see if you can get that part of the boot liner from either a spares dealer or even somewhere like BreakerYard. Regards Peter.

Hi Tony, Most ancillary bits are often common across many car ranges. Things like wheels, radiators, braking systems are just the same as tyres, carpets, etc. The lad nest door has an E280 Mercedes with exactly the same wheels as my s type. No worries. Peter.

Hi Harvey, I have never had a problem starting up, but my habit when starting the car on any occasion is to switch on the ignition and then wait till all the lights go off before starting the engine. Also I treat the engine very easily at first -- made a bit easy for me as I am able to reverse the car on the driveway to a position where I can drive out into the road, which I cannot do quickly as the road is relatively busy and it is a few minutes before I actually get going. Add to that, the road is a thirty MPH area for a few miles. Regards, Peter.

I lifted up the bonnet to get to the passenger side, Richard. The driver's side was easy. The XJ and the s type are fairly similar in parts, but different in size!
-
Just a guess, Richard, but when I did it on my s type the part holding the blade clicked out when a little force was exercised. Peter.

Welcome to the club, Riz, My disc would not come out unless the ignition was on either on my s type. They are exactly the same system. On the question of the heater being on I would suspect a faulty switch. Regards, Peter.

Hi Tony, Your s type has the same screen as my x type. My phone would not pair with it either, But you don't have to take ou the sim card from your phone. There is no slot for it. If you have the owners manual you will have the instructions. You can download owners manuals, but I can copy them onto the site if you don't manage to do that. Regards, Peter.
-
Hi Matthew, I think a new battery might well be the answer. Peter.
-
Hi Tony, Has your s type got the touch screen? That is a different system slightly yuan the other display. Peter.
-
Hi Tony, And welcome to the club. The sim card should remain in the mobile phone and all you need to do is to pair the phone with the car. I am assuming that Bluetooth is fitted and you phone bluetooth is switched on. I will contact Steve at Admin re the club sticker. Regards, Peter.

Hi Jon, and welcome to the club. The Club is about sharing our collective experiences and knowledge, plus the odd bit of polite banter. I am just a bit south of you in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield, and own an S Type of the same colour. Regards, Peter.

Hi Lyndsay, If I was closer I would do it for you, but a round trip of we'll ever 200 miles is a bit far from this old guy. I wish you good luck and hope that you have a great day and great happiness together. Regards, Peter.

Hi Allen, I am fairly mystified as to what has occurred. I have heard that if the battery has been disconnected for some time, the ECU needs a ten mile drive to wake it up, but you car won't fire up so you can't do that. Is the battery fully charged and in good condition and does the Radio work are two questions. I don't know a great deal about the XK, but the engine is the same one as in my s type so I would ask the other questions - are the glow plugs working ok - light coming on - and is the fuel pump working? Good luck, Peter.

A mystery to me, James. But when we moved here 32 years ago I found a curious item in the garage, and took it to a car boot sale. A chap asked me if I knew what it was, so told a little pork, and said Yes. He offered me a fiver for it and I asked him if he knew what it was and he said yes. I asked for tenner for it and he seemed delighted! Someone will know, though. Peter.

Hi Tony and welcome to the club. I don't think it will the last Jaguar that you will buy. Great cars, Regards, Peter.

Hi Anthony, I also have a 2.7 diesel and these cars pull very well. I gave mine a Terraclean service about 6 months ago and it made the world of a difference and well worth the £120. I was also advised not to use supermarket fuel. I stopped using it and such with the local Shell station, and every now and then gave the engine a taste of the expensive stuff. Regards, Peter.
