  1. There is a section in my handbook telling me how to use it! Peter.
  2. Yes, Kevin, the optional extras on all Jaguar Models was quite extensive. On my SE I don't have the optional TV, or the optional Jaguar Voice, and I believe the Alpine Stereo system was an extra, too, which I haven't got either. I don't have [and wouldn't have chosen one] a sunroof. The touch screen system is fitted on my SE, but I think it cost about £2k as an option. 18" wheels were an extra few bob, too. I think that there was about a £20k difference in price if you had all the options.
  3. Not having a X type I cannot have a look, but I would not want to take out the headlining either, Peter.
  4. Welcome to the Club, Ben. You will enjoy your Jaguar, and I hope you enjoy your new job. The JOC will hopefully having a day at the Motor Museum in Gaydon in October --- if there are enough members interested. Regards, Peter.
  5. Welcome to the club, Daniel. My s type does not have a sun blind, so I suggest you follow Trevor's link Regards, Peter.
  6. I think you have to buy the whole unit, rather than the bulb. Peter.
  7. Hi Frank, There are comprehensive instructions in the Owner's manual for my S type for all bulbs except the one you mention! This one on the s type is above the boot at the bottom of the rear screen, and I would be inclined to try unclipping the boot lining. Other than that I would try googling it. There will be a x type owner who will know and hopefully assist. Regards, Petr
  8. And if there were no tourists in Devon and Cornwall, everyone would have to move North for work. They did in the 1840s. <_<
  9. Welcome to the Club, Danny. You will enjoy the S Type, and that 2.7 diesel engine is a really good power plant. Press the "S" button and when the second turbo comes in at 2000 revs you will be quite impressed at the acceleration. Drive the car sedately and you will get over 40mpg. Regards Peter.
  10. That is the way to do it, Stan. Quite a few years ago I went to my local Auto parts shop for a water pump for my wife's HC Viva. He said he could get me one for £30 the next day. He also told me the name and address of a car breaker locally who could also get you one for much less. An hour later I had one for £2.50, and fitted it myself in an hour. I still use that shop!
  11. Hi Neil, I think the water sensor must be a bit dodgy. The water temperature is staying normal. I am unsure about where the sensor is, but I think someone will know. A bit of googling might also give the answer. Regards, Peter.
  12. 1. Old Peter 2. Geordie 3. Diddler 4. Nuneaton Graham.
  13. I have been to the IOM quite a few times, Chris, but never taken my car. I am originally from Lancashire and the Island is a favourite holiday destination before the advent of Package Holidays. The first time I went was with my parents in 1938! Regards, Peter.
  14. Welcome to the Club, Chris. The Isle of Man will enjoy seeing your Jsguar as much as you, Regards, Peter.
  15. Got my card, and the welcome pack fairly quickly.
  16. Pity about the clash, Fred. If we get 30 people attending we can book the club in and get certain privileges at a cost of £300 for the 30 which includes dedicated parking and enter to the Museum, which is normally £12. Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi Fred, I think others have the tailgate problem, as I can recall some posts on this matter some time ago. There will be an x type owner who will probably be able to help. Regards, Peter.
  18. It was very hot yesterday and I had to go on a short journey - around 12 miles. The aircon switched on to auto, with the setting at 17 degrees C. The aircon switched off from auto and the fan came on full before the air started to get cold. It got very cool on the way back and I switched aug back on and it was fine. It appears to me that the aircon has its own priorities and wants to recycle the air inside before getting down to business. Peter.
  19. It is strange, Peter. I have heard of displays failing, but not as sudden as that. That is the trouble with sophisticated systems. Let me know how you get on. Petr.
  20. Hi Peter, Welcome to the club. Ring your technician and ask the question and I think that you will get the answer you have given yourself.-- Master reset. Enjoy your Jaguar --- great cars. Regards, Peter.
  21. That's good,Trevor, but you won't have the S button pressed and letting the supercharger push those 5 litres into real action! Peter.
  22. Welcome to the club, Frank. Jaguars, although very quick, are not as thirsty as many people think. I used to get over 36 mpg on long runs and 26 mpg around the town when I had the 2.5 litre AWD x type. Enjoy you car and enjoy the club. Regards, Peter.
  23. Hi Paul, Terraclean is very beneficial for diesel engines, and I only had mine done after much research. And with 93k on the clock the service will come in much cheaper than a new fuel injector or glow plugs. I also use Shell Vitro and find it much better than supermarket fuel. Regards, Peter. P,S. A long run will do your engine a bit of good.
  24. Hi Amit, Have a look in the Forum "Jaguar Owners Lounge" and you will find a topic on "Recommended Independent Garages", and I am sure that you will find once close to you. I use a very reliable Mobile Mechanic who works in the Sutton Coldfield/Erdington area. Regards, Peter.
  25. Hi Pete, I had an x type 2.5 petrol with an 05 plate prior to my s type, and the aircon is up posed to be left on all the time. Whatever the temperature setting it always seemed to blow hot for a minute then set about getting to the temperature required. My s type does the same. I think that a good run, as you suggest, would be the best course of action, and if it is a hot day, set the aircon fairly low, say 18 degrees centigrade. When [and if] that temperature is achieved, try setting at a higher temperature, say 25 degrees Centigrade. As you say, if it just runs lukewarm a regas should cure the problem. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
