  1. Jaguar recommend Pirellis. I have pirellis at the moment, and I find them great in both wet and dry. Peter.
  2. Hi Gerard, and welcome to the club. You will like the S type. Regards, Peter.
  3. I upgraded to Premium Membership, Margaret. I got the letter and two stickers [one BMW -- swearword]. I ordered the T shirt and it came a week later. I thick it could be the supplier sending them out. Regards, Peter.
  4. I used a mobile mechanic recommended by Terraclean -- Just Google James Price, mobile mechanic. Cost £114 and did it on my driveway. Very knowledgeable bloke, too. Peter.
  5. Thanks everybody for your good wishes. It is Kendal Mint Cake up there Trevor! The car is filled up with the top quality diesel and I look to get over 40 mpg in spite of the rainy weather. The Jaguar owners club stickers are there front and rear, so if you live up there look out for them! I said that I wanted to climb Everest as a birthday present, but my children are not fit enough. Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the club, Neville. I have still not yet mastered putting on a photo on the site. But you will enjoy that lovely big Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  7. It has been brought to my notice by my wife and children, plus grandchildren, who are in cahoots with their parents and Granny, that I am 80 on Friday. I have been issued with instructions to get myself to the Lake District for a five day party starting tomorrow. Apparently there will be champagne, and a cake etc, so I am not too worried. If it had been boiled ham and whiskey it would have been ominous, as I am told that will be served at my funeral. Peter.
  8. Welcome to the club, Paul. Buzzing I have never heard of, gurgling yes! Does the car run well otherwise? Regards, Peter.
  9. Welcome to the club, John. You have done the obvious things. I can only think of a fuel problem. There are a few members with more expertise than myself who may come up with suggestions But I had my 2.7 diesel Terracleaned a week ago and it has made a tremendous difference. For £114 it was worth the money. Regards. Peter.
  10. That is good, Leo. Half of old top cars are from a tree, which is a signature. If that is in good order, and the paint is good, I think you might enjoy a trip round Oxford. My S type is thinking of a trip down there sometime. Peter.
  11. Welcome to the club, Leo. Big task you have there, but I would like to bet that it will be enjoyable. There is a topic In Jaguar owners Lounge on this site [i think} that suggests reliable independent garages. Additionally Wheeler Dealers restored one and you might be able to get that programme on You Tube. Regards, Peter.
  12. I don't miss the camera alerts as much as I thought I would.
  13. Welcome to the Club, Alan. Trevor has given you some thoughts. I am quite mystified as to why Jaguar are a bit poor on their customer service. But there are some children in Brummagem who like walking around on stilts! Regards, Peter,
  14. Hi Karen, and welcome to the club. I had a 2005 x type and was unable to paid my 'phone via Bluetooth. Unlike you, I gave up. There are some members in the club who do understand this electronic wizardry, and who will probably offer some suggestions. Meanwhile, enjoy your jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  15. Just enjoy it Richard. And it will get better. Peter.
  16. Hi Trevor, You have about 18 months to go. My Jaguar Warranty handbook does not mention the compulsory maintenance by a Jaguar Main dealer, but stipulates a VAT registered garage and use Jaguar parts. The Sale of Goods act of 1979 comes into play if the car is faulty in any way, but that would have come to light by now, anyway. I have wandered around contract law and the majority conclusion is that if you have your car maintained by a VAT registered garage and the maintenance schedule is followed using genuine Jaguar parts/recommended oils etc, then the warranty remains valid. This will have to be shown in the service book. I would reply to your dealer and tell them that they are wrong. And if your wife thinks you are turning into a grumpy old man, she should have words with my wife about what grumpy old men are like. Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi Trevor, I have heard that as well, but it has been in cars that have long warranties -- usually those makes that offer 7 year warranties. How many years have Jaguar given you? Or I wonder if the letter was written due to your mentioning that you are not having it serviced there. It might well be worth writing a letter to Jaguar. I am going to root out my Jaguar Warranty handbook and brush up my little knowledge of contract law. Regards, Peter.
  18. Trevor, or on the other hand, at the very back of the boot --- more or less under the back seats. Peter
  19. It's in the same location as the S Type, Trevor. In the boot, on the right hand side. Peter.

    That's a pretty good price!

Hi Rich, I did hear too that Land Rover and some Ford parts, too, are the same. I am quite grateful that my S Type just lets me do a weekly check with a tyre pressure gauge. Regards, Peter.
  22. Well done, Stan! You can't have that lovely car sitting idle in the Summer. Peter.
  23. Very posh, Trevor. Of every description. And M & S, John Lewis, Selfridges, and Harvey Nicks. Plus Jaeger! Loads of places for women to spend money, Peter.
  24. Hi Charlie, While most nations have elements of displeasure before showing signs of action, such as the English being "Slightly peeved", or "very displeased", the Scots only have one course of action when someone nasty occurs --- "Let's get the so and sos." --- which is why they have been the front line regiments in the British army. I would think Flag of St Andrew would be enough. Peter.
  25. Hi Keith, I have exactly the same experience, with people taking sneaky walk round in the supermarket car park. And there are plenty of Jaguars round here, too. Peter.
