  1. Hi Mark, That is a good record. I have had my cars serviced and repaired for the has 19 years by a mobile mechanic who had his full training by a local Main dealer for both Rover and Jaguar. He has looked after my cars [and my wife's cars] for 19 years. Regards, Peter. P.S. We are both from Merseyside, and just migrated to Sutton Coldfield via North Wales and Derbyshire.
  2. Welcome to the club, Mark. Use premium fuel, treat the car well and you should never have a problem. Just enjoy! Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Brian, The batteries are very easy to get. Poundland sell them as do Boots and other shops. Fitting them is also easy - just follow the instructions in your owners manual. I have done it about 4 times and they have never needed recalibrated. They should be the same as the s type. Regards, Peter.
  4. Welcome to the club, Stuart, I used to tow a caravan when I was younger but never towed with a Jaguar, I have seen several Jaguars with tow bars and I do know that the XF is good for towing. Jaguar will have the answer and so will companies who fit tow bars. Let us know how you get on, Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Isaac and welcome to the club. I have found that using premium fuel and the odd additive can keep the fuel system clean. Worth Trying, Peter.
  6. Hi Gary, I would love to go to the States again, but I can't hire a car any more. Age seems a hindrance to the car hire companies, I will be 86 in a week or s0. You will enjoy Ireland and our small Island Regards, Peter.
  7. Hi Gary and welcome to the Club. Not having a CD system or a satnav system does sound a bit odd, I am fairly certain that there are systems that can be put in after production. There are several members with a lot of knowledge who will help. Regards, Peter. PS. We enjoyed Arizona.
  8. Closed. PS. Welcome to the Club, Mark,
  9. Hi Jan, and welcome to the club. When my wife got her Toyota there was just a repair kit and getting a spare wheel was easy. Just just need to google the the size required and the tyre size and there will be someone who will sell you one. It would help if you indicated your location, as frequently there will be someone of knows a particular dealer who can supply what you need. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Brendan, High mileage is not an issue. A lot depends on how the engine is treated and whether the body of the car is generally good. Jaguars are well built and the Ingenium engines on the XE are made in Wolverhampton are are a good new design. Regards, Peter.
  11. One of the two things my s type has not got is Voice Command. [The other is TV]. I am very happy about that as I do not wish to have an argument with a car! Peter.
  12. Hi Alan, I use the satnav on long trips alway set to miles travelled. When I stop I get mpg -- as you say a bit annoying. Peter
  13. Hi Alan, I keep the lighting at max also, and find them not too bad, but I am not too bothered about reading them unless the amber light comes on-- I have never had the red light come on! I have heard that it is rather difficult to make hem a bit brighter. Peter.
  14. Welcome to the cub, Carl, I don't have stop/start so I don't have any experience of it. Luckily there are several members with very good electrical knowledge who will assist, Regards, Peter.
  15. Hi PJ, and welcome to the club. I think you will enjoy your s type -- when you get used to a few things! I had a River Sterling with all the trims including Burr Walnut, which I liked. I soon got used to the Maple, though. My steering wheel is wood and leather which did not need any dye BUT my drivers seat did. The seats were Dove Grey, which I found was an optional extra which the first owner required and suited the car. I managed to find a company called Furniture Clinic which also provides leather treatment for cars which I recommend. My air con takes its time to get very cold but it does not get very hot and I have found it OK for the 7 years I have had the car. Don't worry about uninflated tyres - the air could have been expensive where the previous owner lived, The handling of my 2.7 diesel is rather good. The rear wheel drive pushes the car round corners, Let us know how you go in the next few months. Regards, Peter. P.S. Not my house.
