Hi Alan, The David Manners Group are very good. I have been to their premises a few times. They are not far from Exit 3 on the M5 near Oldbury. Rimmer bros are quite good too. Regards, Peter.

Hi Raj and welcome to the club. The pitfalls in buying an old car, particularly a classic one lies in its history. You must find one that has had a story of good care and one that had been suitably garaged, You won't find many automatic cars built in the sixties and both engines are good ones, but old engines have to have had a good service history. Having said that ,, unless you buy one in mint condition, you will still have quite a bit of work on your hands. Good luck, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Adam. You car looks very good and the colour, both inside and outside, really suits Jaguars. Dove Gray and Indigo Blue do sit together. Coincidentally, I have an S Type with the same colour match! Enjoy, Regards, Peter,

Welcome to the Club, John. Thomas has made a good suggestion, I had a faulty wing mirror on my s type. A replacement would cost £286, eBay had one for £27.90, All is now well. Let us know how it goes. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Garry. I guess that someone has added the space saver and the jack to replace the items that seem the modern thing == My s type has a proper spare wheel and all the bits that go with it are neatly placed in the boo. I hope an XF owner can supply the photo. Regards, Peter.

I used a similar spray to repair my caravan's seats that had parted company. Thankfully the material was dark! Peter.

Hi Steve, Unfortunately not my house -- we rented it for a holiday in June in the Trough of Bowland, We live in the very urban area of Sutton Coldfield, part of Birmingham -- exiles from Lancashire. I am not an engineer, Steve, but I am very interested in the wonderful things that they can do and following what you are doing is not dissimilar to what I was doing to motor bikes sixty years ago. Regards, Peter.

That is a bit of a quandary! Maybe those with the appropriate expertise should be able to help. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club. The S type is a great car and you will enjoy driving it. Nice colour, too. I have never had a problem with the power steering, and the pay thing that I can think of is, and it is a guess, is a tyre --- but if the pulsating is while you are stationary then it isn't a tyre! Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Steve. P1397 is a speed sensor fault, which does not help you at all. I think you should get the spanners out and start at the beginning. In the old days it was the plugs and points, but now its fuel injectors which could well be the first thing to look at. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Glenn. I am also a fan of good wood in a Jaguar interior. My S type has a beautiful maple finish. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter. -
Constant low battery warning on my 2016 F type R

Welcome to the Club, Dropzoo. I do exactly the same, expect for the fact that my car won't fit in the garage and the connection socket is on the wall just outside the garage. Peter. -
Hi Joe, The sat nav can be updated but only to 2012. There are several good companies that will sell you a disc for around £25. Just google "Sat Nav Update" Regards Peter.

Welcome to the club, Arthur. The first question is "How old is the battery?" Batteries normally last 5 years or so, so a guess is telling me that your battery needs replacing. If it has been replaced I would check it to see if it is the correct battery for the car. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Hi Steve, The XKR is a future classic, and I am sure there will be many members rather keen on knowing what you are doing with yours. I read all posts and I always look forward to reading what members are doing. My S type is getting old, but still drives like a dream and there is no way it will leave me! Good luck, Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Mick. TATA were determined to make a change to fit in with other manufacturers and the Wolverhampton factory said just that. The Ingenium engines are real modern engines with the smoothness that was there in the big engines in the smaller 4 cylinder Ingenium. There is still the power though! Enjoy. Peter.

Hi Mark and welcome to the Club. Quick answer: WD40. It is pretty good for all sticking bits. Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Maurizio. The Jaguar does have that peculiar [not funny but unique] influence. When I say a friend restoring a Mk1 in 1963 I knew I wanted a Jaguar. It took a long time but I now have an S type which is a great car to drive, Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Faried. The XJS is the last car that was partially designed by Malcolm Sayer, the designer of the E Type. His drawings were found after his early death. So you have a classic car. There is a forum on this site for the XJS owners and there is quite a good following which could well assist you. The early cars were mainly gas guzzlers and Jaguar developed a less thirsty engine which I think you have. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paul, In the book "Saving Jaguar" by Sir John Egan he mentions that a certain supplier of electrical parts was sending inferior parts to manufacturers which would need replacing after a short time. This supplier would get more money from a recall than the part would cost. Inferior parts from some suppliers in other industries is also well known by those fitting the parts. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Joe. As far as I know the s type has the same mirrors. In fact i have just has to replace the full passenger side mirror unit as the interior mechanism was worn out. I went to eBay and managed to get a full mirror unit for £27.90 [inc postage]. eBay is worth looking as as dismantlers use it a lot. Regards, Peter.

Hi Kevin, Could be electrical -- I had a daft one a year ago - the battery wasn't connected properly - the connection to the negative terminal was worn! Regards, Peter,
