Hi Jim, Good luck with your photography and hopefully an s type will come your way when commissions are coming in nicely. A manual s type is a rare model but I have found that a manual car can be very useful on an IAMRoadsmart course which I am currently doing. I use the J Gate quite a lot! I have used this fix about 5 times and it always works. But when the car has just had a service I think that the system is getting things wrong. I won't be driving much in the next few days due to a damaged left hand which is now in a splint, but my mechanic is fitting a new wing mirror on the 26th and he will use his scanner to rub it out. Hi Silviu, My s type has the 2.7D engine which is the same as yours. I did have the same issue and after using an additive for a couple of years i had both egr valves replaced which solved the problem. It might also be useful to replace the sensor. Regards, Peter.

Hi Keith, The plastic sills are sill covers which can be removed. The Total Protection is either ceramic or another wrll used treatment for the bodywork. It usually lasts about three years. Regards, Peter.

Hi Keith, I knew Colliers in Tamworth quite well and had a 2005 X type from them some years ago [also a V6 AWD SE] which also had a protective coating, although I don't know if it was ceramic. I have had coatings another cars too and have found that the system is quite good. Regards, Peter.

Yes, this is the way to delete the service message. The other way is to put up with it until the week after the car first went on the road, My s type went of the production line on the 13th March 2007 and was sold on the 31st March 2007. The message was coming a the beginning of March and goes on the second week in April. Peter.

Hi Jon, Even the Government seems to understand that an immediate move to electric cars means exactly what you have said. Actually, "self" charging, as in a hybrid seems a better option. My wife's car is a hybrid and return on a long run [over 100 miles] up to 60 mpg -- the petrol engine is a 1.5 litre. I bought my 2.7 diesel Jaguar when diesels were still a good option and it has never failed the emission test. When I was working I often had to drive over 300 miles in a day [I preferred to come home rather than stay in a hotel] and an wholly electric car would have been a no. After I retired a Toyota Prius or an Avensis were a given option. It will take 10 years before batteries can hold a 400 miles charge, if then, My photo was a bit of a joke but did go right to the issue. Peter.

Climate control is a big issue in the political field and manufacturer swill also move in that direction, and while the club does not want to talk about politics, what the manufacturers do is a topic. A massive amount of work has been done on diesel engines and is still being done. Joe, you are quite right about petrol engines -- they can be made smaller and still more powerful. Jaguar did that with the Ingenium engines -- and they will continue along that route. The electric engine is a long way from perfection and there is still the question about emissions from power stations need to charge batteries for motor vehicles, There is probably more use of power from mobile 'phones and more battery charging from them than there is currently from cars, Peter.

Hi Francis and welcome to the Club. I have never had winter tyres or summer tyres, but find that all season tyres are the best and do well in all seasons. I have had Goodyears for some time and find them rather good in the wet as well a the sunny weather. Regards, Peter

I have the humble 2.7 Diesel, but with a lot of jactory fitted optional extras.
