  1. Welcome to the Club, Patrick. There have been a few good restorations of the Mk 2, and you should get some information from members who have done this labour off love. Jaguar Land Rover Classic Parts is definitely the supplier you could look at. I have just looked at their site and they stock parts for the Mk 2. They also do supply to Australia! Look them up and let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi Steve, and welcome to the club. Finding a parts supplier in the UK must be easier than in the USA, and finding one that would ship out parts could prove difficult. There is one company that is worth looking at and one I have used before for small parts. Have a look at the David Manners Group who have a very good supply of new genuine Jaguar parts and who do ship abroad. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Allan, Your case is similar to mine. I used Millers eco plus for abut three years and it did a great job. Eventually my 12 year old engine went into limp mode and two new EGR valves had to be fitted. I would have a diagnostic test, but I still think t is the EGR valves rather than the DPF. As a member of the AA I had the AA mechanic come out to check what it was which save me paying a Jaguar man dealer £70 to do the test. Regards, Peter.
  4. I loved my car keys in the boot of my Rover about 25 years ago. My spare keys were in my jacket which I had neatly folded into the boot. The car was also locked. The AA man took about ten minutes to open the door, and then was able to drop down a rear seat and retrieve the keys. I have never locked my keys in the boot since, and find the lock on the boot very useful. But, as they say up North, "De gustibus nil disputandem" as the old woman said when she kissed the cow. Peter.
  5. Hi Mike, That is very interesting. I wonder if the engine is similar to the 2.7 Diesel in Jaguars and Freelanders? Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi Allan, I did say it was good! I had the same experience. The Yellow Light came on and I put a dose of Millers Eco plus Diesel in, and as I was on my driveway I started up the engine, the revs at 1500 and the light went out. The next time you fill up put another dose in and then every other fill up. Regards Peter.
  7. Hi Jenny, It is a small world. I met a guy when I was working in Sheffield whose mother lived next door to my Grandparents in a small village just outside of Widnes in Lancashire! I left Widnes in 1967 to find fame and fortune --- I found nether but I lived in North Wales, Derbyshire, and now Sutton Coldfield where we have lived for 35 years. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Jenny, I would email Jaguar Classic Cars and see if they are able to assist. If you had the time and inclination, identifying each item and trying to find its date of manufacture, Also if you had the tie and a bit more inclination you could try selling them its by item rather than a big job lot --- eBay springs to mind. It's a pity you are in the Land of the Loch and the Glen instead of Birmingham and Coventry, who have neither Lochs or Glens, but make a lot of very good cars. Regards and good luck, Peter.
  9. Hi Allan, I don't mind being referred to as old, as I am 85 but still going strong. Terraclean pump in an amount of a fluid that replaces the diesel fuel for about 30 minutes. I think the various oil companies got wise and did the same by using an additive with the fuel that was cheaper and did the job ok. My S type is in for its MOT tomorrow and it has never failed on emissions yet. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Jon, Millers Oils is what it says on the bottle! And Allan, the terra clean did improve the fuel system, but keeping it clean I use Shell V power and Millers ECO Plus Diesel. The EGR valves [there are two on the v6 engine] have the habit of getting sticky and a bit dirty, and Millers ECO plus diesel will clean them up, but eventually you may have to replace them, which I did a few months ago [£420]. Your friend had checked the engine fault and you appear to have a fault code P4020 which is EGR Fault. The additive could cure it . I would not bother going back to the main dealer as the problem is not with the DPF, and they will charge about £70 just to tell you that. Regards, Peter. [Some years ago when I joined the club there was another member posting called Peter. - He was younger the me!]
  11. Welcome to the club, Kevin. You have a nice well kept car -- I think the s type is a future classic, -- I certainly enjoy my humble diesel which has all the Grace, Space and Pace that Bill Lyons said. Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Michael, About 15 years ago I bought quite a good high pressure wash, mainly to clean the patio and conservatory roof. In the instructions it mention that you should never us a high pressure washer on a car, and especially not on a convertible. Not using such a washer is really the solution. Regards, Peter.
  13. Tell us how it goes, Alexander.
  14. Hi Ian and Lynette, I had an x type, 2.5 AWD petrol on a 2005 plate, and found it very quick and a great road holder with all the quality you expect from a Jaguar. I will look out for you when I am holidaying in Lancashire - The Trough of Bowland is one of the most beautiful areas in the UK. The club is a very friendly one and any information you need will be readily available. Regards, Peter. Lancastrian in exile.
  15. Hi Jane, and welcome to the club. That's a bit strange. You seem to have done all, particularly having the diagnostics done at Jaguar, who should have resolved it. Which main dealer was it? Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Alexander, Halfords will have it in stock. You will also find it in most Auto Accessories shop. Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi Alexander, I would be inclined to try an additive which could assist the injectors to clean up a bit. I use a Millers ECO plus for my diesel engine and it seems to work OK. They do have a petrol version. I would also try premium fuel now and then. Let us know how you get on, Regards Peter.
  18. Welcome to the club, James. The early XF is the successor of the S Type and the design, while different from the s type still retains the look of that model. I think you will enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi Alex and welcome to the club. It sound like a fuel problem without knowing what model your x type is. There are many x type owner who could assist, but you really need to indicate the model as there are many diverse x type models. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Kris and welcome to the club. I have looked up this car on the free app Vehicle Smart which shows quite a lot of MOT fails mostly because of suspension issues and some headlamp problems. There are also been tyre issues which could indicate faulty wheel settings. The car is currently untaxed. It is worth downloading Vehicle Smart on to your mobile 'phone -- costs nothing to look at this in detail. Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Kev, I think you are correct. The diesel engine of the XF is a developed version of the 2.7 diesel on the S type which has a belt. I can only guess, like Kev, that it is a belt. Peter.
  22. Hi Dave, You should start with the SE version but you must remember that there are a lot of optional extras on top. My s type Diesel SE has a total £11,940 worth of optional extras, kindly paid for by the first owner, and included a proper spare wheel, bluetooth, sat nav with touch screen, CD multi changer and Dove Grey upholstery instead of Barley etc etc. Some of these can be retro fitted. Good luck, Peter.
  23. HI Ian, and welcome to the club. Colin's post is over 3 years old. Your photo is useful though, Regards, Peter.
  24. That seems fair, Graham. The disc knows that most people in Cheshire don't go to Tesco.
  25. Hi Kevin, When my s type gets quite dirty [not often] I cheat a little bit and have it hand washed for a fiver round the corner. I then spend a couple of hours giving it a good wax and shine. Regards, Peter.
