  1. Hi Chris, and welcome to the club. I have seen several light bars across cycle racks with what seemed reflectors rather than lights. I would think a caravan dealer would be able to advise you on this, as cycle racks are common on caravans and motor caravans. I admit to carrying my cycle inside the caravan up to about 8 years ago when we gave up caravanning and consequently cycling as SWMBO said I was too old to keep it up. I was only 77!, You have years to go. Regards, Peter.
  2. Hi Ian, I would have a chat with the dealer from whom you bought the car. It could be something mechanical. Peter.
  3. Hi Michael, It must be either the connecting lead or the usb connection. My iPhone 7 charges OK. Peter.
  4. Hi Ian, Looks great! One solution for what seems like a sticky lock is WD40. I could be completely wrong, but as I from up North like yourself, the best solution is the cheapest! Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  5. Thanks David. Ilkeston is not too far, just about 40 minutes away, It is only odd parts that I have needed, although my son's x type has needed a few. Have a good holiday. Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi David and welcome to the club. You can get deers even within the cities --- but you do need a steak out to see them! Excuse the pun! Peter.
  7. Hi Dino, My car had a new engine at 28k under warranty and while under Jaguar ownership. It has been perfect ever since with the exception of a new water pump. The car is now nearly 12 years old and is running beautifully. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi David, Can you let me have the address of the breaker in Derbyshire, which would be handy for me, as the Birmingham breakers want a fortune for jaguar spares. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Frank, That is a good idea. Actually, there was a West Midlands Meet on the 22nd July 2018 at Tamworth Jaguar. Lancaster Jaguar [who provided cakes and coffee]and myself advertised this meet but only 6 people turned up, two of which were not club Members and of the other four, one came from Northwich in Cheshire, one from Teesside, and one from Leicestershire. Only one from the West Midlands turned up, and that was me. The event had been publicised for two months, So good luck and note that I have pinned and featured your post. I will come myself if I am not busy that weekend. Regards, Peter,
  10. Hi Alan, My son who has a very similar car to you, but a bit holder and had a somewhat similar problem, but in reverse, as you might say. The glass hatch would not lock, and when my mechanic came to do the Service and MOT a few weeks ago he said that it was the control module that was faulty, and the options were to spend £300 on a new one or "fix" the old one so that the glass half of the floor would not open, but the whole rear door would open and close as one unit. My son went for the fix. Regards, Peter.
  11. The s type is a great car. I have one so I can be accused of being biased. I have seen an s type pickup, done by a member of this club. I have not seen one of these, and I guess that it must be in the USA. Any thoughts? Peter.
  12. Hi Jon, My garage was built in 1980 in a extension by the previous owner and my wife's cars always fitted in, as did my Rover 400. But now that my wife has a Toyota Yaris it won't fit in unless the wing mirrors are folded in.and even then there is only two inches on either side. I have even bought about widening the door, but the Yaris has a reversing camera so getting out can be done without too much of a problem. I think cars are a bit wider than they used to be. Regards, Peter
  13. Heavy rain this morning. No garage for the S Type as she is too big to fit into a 1980 garage. At least the rain is giving the car a good rinse. I am halfway through giving the car a good wax for the winter -- resume when it is dry. I will check out any boot leaks when the rain stops!
  14. Hi Adam, I have not come across this unusual issue on a car before, although I did have to change a motor cycle cable in the sixties. I have tried to find out out about sensors, and with the modern auto gearboxes I would guess that a sensor might be on the ZF gearbox. There will be some members who will be quite exact ii I don't get underneath cars any more. Let us know how you get on. Reards Peter.
  15. Jaguar do mention somewhere that pressure washers too close to the car can get water into a few spots on the car. Peter.
  16. My family came from Tullamore, but it was a long time ago. Our week in Galway a year or so ago was sunny all the time I am very lucky with the weather! Peter.
  17. The last time I went to Ireland both brake lights failed, and I called in to a Tyre Fitters close to where we were staying. The fitter supplied and fitted both bulbs for 5 euros. It would have cost £10 in the UK --- I did give him 10 Euros! Galway Bay!
  18. Hi Colin, and welcome to the club. My car is 11 years old and came off the production line on the 13th March 2007. Every year in March I get a message on the message centre on the dashboard -- Service required in xxxx miles. Since my car was stored in Main Dealers for three months waiting for a buyer no-one told it that it should be serviced when it was sold. I just delete the message and continue getting my car serviced at the beginning of June every year. There is a method of removing the message on the s type -- I don't know about the XJ. I am sure Harwoods would delete the message for you are tell you how to do it yourself. But not to worry. Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi Jon, Your tyre experience highlights what can happen when good tyres are not on your car. I have 4 Goodyear Eagles on my car. I have heard that Nexens are good tyres, too. Regards, Peter.
  20. Welcome to the Club, Paul. That is a very good piece of advice. Luckily, I have never had problems with the reversing sensors on my S-Type, although I did with my X-Type. I have heard that EE services in Milton Keynes are very good and they have been recommended by other members. Regards, Peter.
  21. The reverse sensors on my s type only start beeping when I am about 3 feet from an obstacle. The continuous beep only come on when someone walks behind me as I am staring to reverse out of a car park, or when I am 18 inches from an obstacle. Peter.
  22. That why I keep mine on the floor!
  23. Hi Jon, I have just been outside to have a look at my S Type, but unfortunately they are quite different. I wonder if something like a matchstick glued on to the inner side would assist pushing it in? Regards, Peter,
  24. I wonder why you want an argument with me, when I made a humorous comment. You could, indeed, report the post. It does not infer that one should welcome a flying brick, and as someone who has had a few broken windscreens you only know you are getting a hit on you windscreen when it actually happens.
  25. Of course it isn't. A broken windscreen when driving is very dangerous. The last time mine was broken was in the middle of heavy traffic close to the M5. A 12" crack right in the middle of the driver's side.
