  1. Hi Phillip, It is always sad to see a cherished car go. I have had a good look around and have seen prices from a low of £2000 to some at £30,000. The cost of replacing seats and other fabric is not too high and if the wood trim is in good condition then the interior should pass muster. The bodywork looks good and if there is no rust then I would be inclined to pitch a price at around £19,500. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  2. Welcome to the club, Steve. My first Jaguar was a 2005 X Type 2.5 AWD saloon. Nice car, and when I got it the salesman told me I would never drive another make of car. My s type fulfilled that statement. Great cars! Regards, Peter.
  3. Lancaster Jaguar who are hosting the event will be ready by 10.00 am, which is a good time --- but any time after that you will be welcome. Hope you can get there, Dave. Peter.
  4. My first car was a Triumph Herald that was just a few months under 3 years old when I bought it. Two years later it died of rust and was taken apart before taking it to the council tip. I worked in the Steel Industry for 45 years and it took a long time for us to convince car makers that a galvanised chassis will last much longer. Peter.
  5. Enjoy the weekend, Joe. We retired from caravanning 7 years ago. I still miss those weekends away! Peter.
  6. Hi Ian, I think Redex is OK. I use Millers ECO plus for diesel in my 2.7Diesel S Type as well as premium fuel. I have never had a DPF problem in over 5 years even though most journeys are short ones, and the EGR valves never have been sticky in the last 3 years. Preventative maintenance is much easier than fixing something that gives you oily hands! Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the club, John. There is really no substitute for the mechanical lock. Having a note that could be kept in the owners manual can be very useful. The s type has a key entry neatly place next to the numberplate light! I have had to use it several times when the battery was disconnected and I was daft enough to close the boot! Regards, Peter.
  8. Sorry about that, Gareth. They are jobs that are necessary, though. Regards, Peter.
  9. Correct, Joe. The 22nd July. There are some members coming from long distances and with a bit of luck there should be about 20 members there. I also think that there would be a few questions to those who know about electrical issues -- getting key fobs to work properly etc. Hope you can get there. Peter.
  10. Hi Darran, I have only just seen this post. Carole has already said some of the things I would have said. Our cars are similar. I have had my s type for over 5 years now and I have never had a problem with the DPF. I only o about 5,000 miles a years with mostly shorter trips, but I do make sure I get a long run once a month so. I use Shell V Power as there is a Shell Garage about 500 yards away, and I also use Millers Eco Plus for diesels with a shot with every full tank or so. It also cleans the EGR valves, There is an Event on Sunday 22nd July for JOC members at Lancaster Jaguar, Tamworth which you would find interesting especially as there are a few members with S Types there. Lancaster Jaguar are in Ventura Park, Tamworth, very close to the A5. I live in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield so it sonly 8 miles away. Regards, Peter.
  11. Hi Joe, Are you coming to the meet atLancaster Jaguar Tamworth on Sunday? It should be a good day. Regards Peter.
  12. Hope to see you, Graham.
  13. Hi Graham, Nice to see you posting. Are you coming to the JOC meet at Lancaster Jaguar Tamworth next Sunday - The 22nd July. Just off the A5. Regards, Peter.
  14. Welcome to the Club, Warry. The JOC has had meets at Gaydon, and there is the Jaguar Breakfast club there [not a JOC event] open to every one on the first Saturday of every month. But if you care to drive up to Tamworth on Sunday, 22nd July, there is a JOC event at Lancaster Jaguar Tamworth -- just a few miles off the M42. You could even compare your 2007 S Type 2.7 D with 78k on the clock with my 2007 s type 2.7D with 78k on the clock. Regards, Peter.
  15. Welcome to the club, Tim. The S Type is a very good car, comfortable, a great road holder and the 2.7 engine is very reliable. I have had mine for over five years and other than fuel, tyres and a new battery the only expense I have had was a new water pump [supplied and fitted cost £135]. The big diesel engine needs the best quality fuel [I use Shell V Power] and on a long run it will return well over 45 mpg - I have had 50.2 mpg. I have never had a issue with the Diesel ParticularFilter, as I just make sure I have a long run once a year and use a DPF cleaner additive - Millers ECO Plus ever other full fill up or so. Some drivers will mention the sills can suffer some rust underneath the plastic covers but mine are still in good condition after over 11 years. Look for as many bells and whistles on the car you choose, and ask for the service history and check the car you choose by looking at its MOT history using the Free App Vehicle Smart. Regards, Peter,
  16. Hi Jim, I will be there at the same time -- Look out for this car. Regards, Peter.
  17. Welcome to the club, James. I will try Brasso as my s type has been slightly trollied in Sainsburys' car park. Scratches do not suit Jaguars. Regards, Pete
  18. See you there Jim. There might be a twin for Tabitha! Peter.
  19. Hi Jason, Just turn up -- B78 3HL. I will tell Mandi Rawlings. See you there. Regards, Peter.
  20. Welcome to the club, Jim. There is a JOC event on 22nd July at Lancaster Jaguar in Tamworth just over the hill from Cheshire. It would be a good day to show your car and meet other members. Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Russ, From what I have read it is a total remake. Peter,
  22. The Ian Callum reingineered S Type Jaguar with the 4.3 Litre XK engine and a 5 speed manual gearbox will have a limited production run from the 5th September. Those looking to buy one will have to dig deep into your pockets as this car will cost between £300,000 and £350,000. Peter.
  23. Hi Lee, You could also download the free app -- Vehicle Smart - where you can check all previous MOT's and which list failures and also why, plus any advisories. Regards, Peter.
  24. Welcome to the club, David. Very nice! It makes my humble S Type look slow! Regards, Peter.
  25. Welcome to the club, Peter. With regards to the Key Fob, I am surprised that a Jaguar Main dealer cannot solve the problem. I would look for an Auto Electrician --- there are usually some good mobile auto electricians that you can find by googling. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
