You won't find one of these around any more, Mike, but I had a Austin Maestro 1.6 that was great on the country lanes. I once drove from Sutton Coldfield to the Huntsman at Aislaby over the North Yorkshire moors in a very short time -- 157 miles non stop in around 2 and a half hours! Very sure footed and a good power to weight ratio. I had it from new [company car] and it had a rusty door panel within two months of getting it. Peter.

Welcome the the Club, Stuart. I am a bit biased in favour of the S Type Jaguar. I have had one for 4years and 8 months and other than tyres and fuel I have only had to buy a new water pump. The 2.7 diesel is a great engine, too, and just need a long run once a month to keep the DPF clean. I would recommend using Premium diesel, and I have found it gives a better mpg. Regards, Peter. Just a mile from the Staffordshire border.

There was a stainless steel exhaust on my s type fitted in the factory in March 2007 as an optional extra for the first owner. It was well worth the price he paid! Peter.
-
Hi Les, I have had a look around, and I think the best bet would be to ring an exhaust supplier and get a quote. Obviously the Catalytic converter and the DPF come into any price calculation. National Tyre services say that they can supply any exhaust. Regards, Peter.

Quite a lot is verging on the unknown. By the look of it it appears that EU6 is the criterion on which it is based. My son-in-law who lives in Brockley has a Suzuki Wagon on a 1999 plate, and he tells me that he will not have any problem, as the emissions area is in reality quite small and if you know the roads around it can easily be avoided. I am going to London to morrow and I will use the train as usual as it is both quicker and taking in the cost of parking, much cheaper. When these regulation extend to Birmingham I won't be bothered either, asI use my travel pass to get around, or I can use my wife's Yaris Hybrid. I don't think that charging people more in London will solve the air pollution issue, but might push the use of electric vehicles a little bit more. There are several small buses in Sutton Coldfield that are electrically powered. OVO energy, who provide our energy supplies, are running a battery charging scheme and they indicate that there will be more charging points than petrol stations by 2019. Peter.

Welcome to the club, Roy. I bet you are livening up the East Coast with that superb car! Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, James. The XF is a worthy successor to the s type and is a great car. The only important tip I would suggest is always to use premium fuel,, particularly if your car is a diesel. You will enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards, Peter.

Hi Steve, and welcome to the club. I don't think that your will have a problem finding the car you want. I got my s type by emailing a main dealer with a large chain of dealerships across the country and who was prepared to bring one to a dealership local to me. It is surprising how some main dealers who have taken a car in part exchange that is a good one will keep in in stock until there is a demand for that model. Regards, Peter.

Hi Dennis, and welcome to the Club. The Mondeo has some influence on the x type, but a lesser amount than the Buick and the BMW have on Rolls Royce. Manufacturers share parts and engines and have done for years. I had a Rover with a Peugeot engine, and Role Royce used a Buick engine until the take over by BMW. Just enjoy you Jaguar -- My son has a similar car with n 06 plate - Great workhorse. Peter.

Welcome to the club, Andrew. The engine and gearbox on your car is identical to mine, and I have never had such a fault. But at a guess it could possibly be a sensor . I am nether a mechanic nor an electrical expert and hope that one does read this post. Good luck, Peter.

Hi Rich, When Malcolm Sayer joined Jaguar his first job was preparing the XK120 into a car that could race and compete with the Mercedes, Ferraris etc. If I have your permission, I will email you some information that is not yet published about Malcolm Sayer and his design work. Bill Lyons could design cars but nowadays he would be known as a Car Stylist. More in my email. Regards, Peter.

HI Barry, and welcome to the club. Joe had pointed you in the right direction. If a diesel, a small shot of an suitable injector cleaner would do no hard, as it foes seem a fuel issue. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Rich. My s type visited Dorset in September and several Jaguar owners gave me a wave. I had an x type 2.5 AWD - nice car - that 4 scroats "borrowed almost 5 years ago. The police, who had been looking for them for a few years, were quite pleased that all four got 8 years in prison! Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Richards. The E Type is a great car, and most people do believe that it was the greatest car ever built by Jaguar. Designed by Malcolm Sayer, who could have been the greatest car designer ever but for his sudden death at 54. Regards, Peter. PS. A photo I took last April of Mary Sayer at the wheel of an E Type Convertible.

handbrake not working dsc light on gearbox fault
Old Peter replied to jaybo's topic in Jaguar XF Club
Hi Jason, I used to get that on my s type and my battery was 4 years and 11 months old. I changed it and the problem went away.. The 09 xf is not much different to the 07 s type and I Paul has given you some very good advice. Regards, Peter. -
Hi Alan, and welcome to the club. You can download or even buy a manual via googling. A tenner well invested. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Jonathan. I am surprised at your comment on the build quality which I can only put down to some untoward attention fro he previous owner. The radio is probably an easy fix, and as you say, covered by the warranty. My s type is just over 10 years old and there is not a flaw on the build quality. We do make good cars in Brummagem. Regards, Peter.

New x type owner. Red light spells danger?
Old Peter replied to Matt Ff's topic in New Members Introductions
Hi Matt and welcome to the club. When I bought my first Jaguar, an x type 2.5 AWD SE I was told that if the battery was getting low some electrical items on the car would shut down as not necessary for its main operation -- starting the engine. Joe has given you some very good advice, and going back to the simple part of the battery I would check f there terminals are corrected and if the battery is over 5 years old I would guess that it is not fully holding the charge, Regards, Peter. -
Welcome to the club, Ashley. I hope you will enjoy a great car, as well as the club. Plenty of experiences form the members. Regards, Peter.

It isn't a problem, Wat. There were several coincidences at the time. While I was getting the number of the local Police Station, there had been a road traffic accident and when the police car who came onto the scene he must have also checked the badly parked car as he called the tow truck. Regards, Peter.
-
Welcome to the Club, Peter. Have you checked the setting? I don't know the XF system but on the s type you can regulate some of the sound volume. Peter.
-
I have just came in and there were two idiots parked across the dropped kerb outside our house with just about enough space to let me manoevre the car in. I checked both cars on Vehicle smart and one was uninsured since June. I had great pleasure in watching him having a chat with a police officer. I am now waiting for the tow truck. I hope the Magistrates are not lenient! Peter.

I don't think that he XF disc is compatible with the s type system. I could be wrong, but that is what I have heard. Peter. -

Welcome to the Club, Matt. The XJ is a great car - and the colour suits it. A man round the corner has seven of them, all in black -- he is a Funeral Director. Regards, Peter.
