Welcome to the Club, Wes. When I bought my first Jaguar, the dealer said that I would never drive another make of car, Certainly, the Jaguar Experience has got me hooked, and SWMBO is similarly enamoured. Your XFR looks very smart and its colour is the same as my first Jaguar. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Matthew. The S type is a great car, and you seem to have got a gem. I always thought it a pity that Jaguar discontinued the use of the 2.5 V6 when the 2.7 diesel came in in 2004. A friend of mine bought a similar model to your when it first came out -- bright red . I have not seen him for over a year but he still had it and he said it is very smooth to drive even at 17 years old. I drove back from Devon last Saturday and it just took 3 hours and 37 minutes with a short break, and returned 48 mp over 198 miles. I never exceeded 70 mph and used cruise control all the way back -- the car is so comfortable it is so easy to do long mileages. Preston is one of my favourite locations and the reason is a very long story. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paddy, I have had a look at my touchscreen and could not find any way to delete a number. The handbook tells me that the system will hold 500 numbers! I never had the problem with my s type. It could be that the previous owner never unpaired his 'phone prior to selling the car which could have done it Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Paddy. With regards to your sat nov, the last disc made for the x type, the s type and I think the XJ was in 2012, which you can get via Google for under £30. I am not certain how to delete numbers on your touch screen 'phone display, but I think it is a similar procedure to deleting stored locations. I will have a look at my car and get back to you on that, as I have a number to change. In the meantime, Just enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards, Peter.

Last week SWMBO and I went to Devon for a week. On several occasion we were waved to and or headlamp flashed by S Type owners who many heave been club members, one close to Bovey Tracy . This sometime happens locally, but it was rather nice for someone to wave to a fellow s type owner on holiday.

What is the best Jaguar of all time?
Old Peter replied to Jaguar Owners Club's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
The e type [XK150] is the most beautiful car that Jaguar ever designed and made, but if think that it is in second place to the best car ever made was it's predecessor, the D Type ]XK140] which changed the face of Jaguar and was the car that Malcolm Sayer, the designer of the E Type. designed to race nd which was so successful at Le Mans that it put Jaguar firmly on the map. Peter. -
Hi All, This is a very interesting topic. I have had my s type 2.7 Diesel for just over 4 years and so far and fingers crossed, I have never had the DPF full warning. Most of the time I have a few short runs and only about once a month I have one of the longer runs which I know will regenerate the DPF. So, I have never had the experience of talking to a dealer about the issue, and consequently have never go answers telling me that it is normal. I don't thing a receptive issue is normal. My car is normal, as when I start the engine, it takes me to wherever I want to go without warning lights coming on. If a dealer told me what he has told Paul, I would question whether the filter was fit for purpose, and that his answer was one to avoid having to replace it at his cost. There are load of answers meant to blame the driver of the car in question. Last week, I managed to "bend" the wheel arch of SWMBO's Toyota Yaris Hybrid while getting it of of the garage, and was quoted £358 to repair the damage, with the reason given that as the car was a Hybrid a special tool had to be used, as electricity was running through the car. A local bodyshop quoted me £216, and he did observe the electricity is running though all modern cars. I have tried to keep the fuel system of the diesel engine clean, firstly by using premium fuel -- I use Shell V Plus, as there is is a Shell Station 500 yards away from where I live, with occasional fuel system cleaning additive [Miller oils diesel plus] which seems to work. Preventing something happening is probably the better choice than fixing it after it has happened. Regards, Peter. P.S. WiFi is working today in our Holiday cottage [rented] in deepest Devon.

Welcome to the club, Craig. The s type in every version is a great car and a head turner. We are on holiday in Devon at the moment and mine is well examined in various car parks! Regards, Peter.

Hi Graham, My S type also has the optional "proper" spare wheel, which does limit the boot space, although the car was designed to have a spare wheel and the same is already there. I am afraid that many new cars dealers as well as Jaguar are rather good at selling cars but not very good at the after sales service. The windscreen washer? Is it in the wiper or a fitting on the bonnet? A pin is ofter useful adjust the latter, as you probably know, but if it is part pf the wiper assembly then you will have to take it off and try to adjust it so that the jet hits the windscreen higher up where it ought to be. Jaguar will need a bit pf pestering to do it as yjry should Regards, Peter.

Hi Adam, The s type had a facelift in 2003/2004 and the mesh girl was fitted instead of the Waterfall, as they call it.. My car is one of the last s types to be made and the first owner had an impressive list of optional extras fitted by the factory, which included a "proper" spare wheel, and the option trim of Dove Grey. When you are a pensioner you can give the car little more attention, and I refurbished the seats a couple of weeks ago. A couple of hours work! Regards, Peter.
-
Welcome to the club, James. You must enjoy the Jaguar experience. The club members like to share experiences, and there are a lot of members with a great deal of expertise, Regards, Peter.
-
Hi Adam, It seems to be the same colour as mine -- I saw one the same colour in Galway two years ago. For some reason, older Jaguars seem to be selling for back pocket money at the moment. When I traded in my Rover Sterling when it was 11 years old and mine since it was 8 months old I only got £500 for it and it was running perfectly but just getting a bit tatty. Regards, Peter.
-
Welcome to the club, Adam. The s type is a great car to drive, and in my opinion, a future classic. Jaguar stopped using the 2.5 litre engine in the s type about 2005, a year or so after they started using the 2.7 diesel engine. A pity! Some photos would be appreciated. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Lee. The s type is a great car, and also my daily drive. Had it over 4 years now and find it very reliable. Next week she will take us to South Devon, so we can get a rest from being pensioners! Regard Peter.

Welcome to the club, Nik. Restricted performance is something I have never had [keeping fingers crossed] and I have never had any problems with the DPF. Sharing experiences is very important for the club members -- many an issue is solved from the experience of another person. When my younger son was 18 and with his first car he could not get it to start. While he was in the pub wth his mates, I solved the problem. With my years of experience I gathered that cars needed fuel to go. A few splashed of petrol from the lawnmower worked. He was rather embarrassed! Regards Peter.

Old Peter replied to Christopher ISLES's topic in New Members Introductions
Welcome to the Club, Chris. The x type was a much maligned car according to people who have never even been inside one. I had one and found it a great car with never a problem. Our daughter lives in Brockley and I have to take a rather circuitous route with my S Type. In the future will will visit in SWMBO's Yaris Hybrid. I hope you enjoy the club as much as you will enjoy your XE. Regards, Peter. -
Welcome to the club, Mark. Great to see another E Type potential owner in the club. There is an App called Vehicle Smart which will give you the MOT history of the car, and it is completely free, Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.

Old Peter replied to Kenny s type's topic in New Members Introductions
Hi Ken, A little bit of useless information. I worked in a Steelworks in the sixties and we had 2 ships, one was the MV Hawarden Bridge, and the other was the MV Stalybridge. Peter. -
Sorry Paul and Terry, The company is called The Furniture Clinic. Senior moment early this morning They have various products its but if you put in your trim code they will supply the exact Jaguar Colour, I gave my seats a good clean and then two coats of the cream, and for a 10 year old car the finished seats looked practically new. Regards, Peter.

Hi Terry, I got the kit from a supplier called the Furniture Company who I later found give a discount to JOC members. I do like my cars to be clean and tidy! Peter.

Jaguar Classic Experience Tour
Old Peter replied to Carole Simpson-Hadley's topic in Jaguar Owners Lounge
Sounds very interesting, Carole. At the moment we are doing various tasks in the house -- Painting window frames, dealing with gardening matters, and fitting new kitchen worktops prior to paint the whole kitchen. Pleasure come second occasionally. Peter. -
Hi Terry, My s type satnav gives me the route options, and you can list and alter them in the settings. And after living in four different parts of the country and being on the road for 30 years I did get to know the way there and back in most areas. But as you say, enjoying the car comes ahead of the "toys". Regards, Peter.
-
Hi Terry, I rather like the S type Sat Nav, particularly the choice of displays. The street listing box is quite useful particularly in cities, and Doris is very polite in her instructions! She will get me and SWMBO down to our rented cottage in Ivybridge next week. Regards, Peter
-
Hi Richard, and welcome to the club. I am afraid you have bought the wrong ones. Halfords will supply and fit Bosch Blades for £42. My local accessory shop will source another make and fit them for £30. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Terry. I wanted an S Type 2.7 diesel with all the bells and whistles and a low mileage, and after quite a search I decided to email a national dealer who found one 2o miles away It is worth going to a bit of trouble to get the car you want. Regards, Peter.
