  1. Well done, Gary. The s type keeps you young -- even where I live which is only 6 miles from the factory you still get head turns when you drive past. I know, I am also 83. Regards, Peter.
  2. Welcome to the club, Ken. Sharing experiences is the best way to get to know your car. There will be many who will value your as much as yo value theirs. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Carl, There is no visible aerial on my s type ]07] - I think it is in the body of the car somewhere. Peter.
  4. Hi Steve, Try the David Manners Group, SNG Barrett or Rimmer Bros. Good Luck. Peter.
  5. Hi Sebastian and welcome to the club. The XK is a great car, and I don't think that there is any Chines connection with that model, but rather with a long wheelbase version [the XFL] which will be assembled in China. I hope you enjoy the Jaguar experience. Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the club, Andy. The X type is a very good car -- I had an X type for two years and really loved it. Unfortunately it was stolen but I still have fond memories. Regards Peter.
  7. Welcome to the club, Roger. Two new members from Wrexham inside a week! Great. There are quite a few North Walians in the Club now. Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Nick, Glad you have sorted your SatNav. Repair sites are good to know. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Nick, I am told that the "Jaguar Gurgle" is the AirCon system just settling down. Peter.
  10. Hi Steve, My s type should have a service every 12k miles of 12 months whichever is the sooner. Main service and short service alternative years. My mobile mechanic does a service every year when the MOT is due. Peter.
  11. Welcome to the club, Nick. I do admire the XK, both in design and engine power, but being an old pensioner I am sticking to my very comfortable s Type. I have not come across the SatNav disc ejecting itself, and can only suggest that you clean it with ordinary CD cleaner pad that you would use on CDs. Failing that, you could get a replacement disc --- a Satnav updated 2012 disc costs less than £30, and there are plenty around if you google "Jaguar Sat Nav update". It is good to ge all the little things sorted out. Regards, Peter.
  12. Hi Carole, Plastic trim was quite common in the eighties onwards, due in part to the scarcity of chrome dipping works. Many had gone out of business due to the cost of the metal needed and the fact that Bob Scholey, the Chairman of British Steel plc said when asked why the company were not producing it any more, "There's n money in it". In any case, the automotive industry always did look for cheaper options, and particularly for trim that didn't rust. Even chromium finished steel did eventually rust if the steel in its raw state was just the plain mild steel and was not galvanised, or treated in some way. Pity. Peter.
  13. Hello, Di. I have tried out the Megulars Clay bar, lubricated with Autoglym detailing spray, and the result is not too bad, but not perfect, Peter.
  14. Welcome to the Club, Di. Nice car, and I can understand why you want the trim to be shiny as new. The good news is that you are not alone in wanting this, but the bad news is that there are quite a few members who have the same problem. I have tried Brasso, Solvol Autosol, toothpaste, detailing spray and a few more. I might try some regulars clay bar iit is not raining tomorrow. [I have been trying for 4 years!] Meanwhile, just enjoy your magnificent car! Regards Peter.
  15. Welcome to the Club, Alan. You will enjoy your Jaguar , and any questions you have members will share their experiences. Regards, Peter.
  16. Welcome to the club, Kory. I recently had to refurbish the fan seats of my S type which were looking a bit worn. There is a company called The Furniture Clinic which will supply with cleaner, leather balm and anything else to do with leather care. Just look up their website and you have the trim code they will supply the exact Jaguar Colour. A bit of ebb grease is needed! Regards, Peter.
  17. Welcome to the club, Matty, Assuming it is blue smoke, I guess that it is the fuel system which might need a clean out -- A shot of an additive - Petrol Injector cleaner could help. The gearbox is supposed to be sealed for life, but some members have had an gearbox oil change at around 75k miles which they say has improved the performance of the Auto box. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Phillip, Is your battery in good condition. The battery in an S Type has a very busy life and lasts about 5 years. The other little things that the 2.7 diesel likes is premium fuel, and a clean fuel system which will keep the injectors in good order, and doing their Job. An additive I use occasionally is Millers Eco Max [Diesel] which keeps the fuel system clean. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  19. Welcome to the Club, Mark. The XF is a worthy successor to the S Type --- we do make nice cars in Brummagem! Regards, Peter.
  20. Welcome to the club, Phillip. The S type is a great car and in my opinion, a future classic. My 2.7 diesel is quiet and quick, has returned just over 50 mpg on a couple of occasions on long trips, and has const very little over the 4 years and three months I have had it. The club is a friendly place and any assistance you may need there will be someone there to share their experience. Regards, Peter.
  21. Hi Richard, and welcome to the club. There are plenty of Sat Nav update discs around -- just google "Sat Nav Updates" and you will find lots of them available. I am assuming that the Sat Nav is similar to those on other Jaguar Models of that era. I replaced my 2006 disc with a 2012 one 4 years ago for around £25. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter,
  22. Hi Gary, Nice to hear good news. I have only had to spend £145 on a new water pump in over 4 years although I needed 4 new tyres during those years. Four MOTs with even an advisory with 18000 miles done! As your say, what else]se does one need? Regards, Peter.
  23. Welcome to the Club, Duncan. I think you will enjoy the Jaguar experience. I hope you enjoy the club, and share your experiences. Regards, Peter Lancastrian in Exile.
  24. Hi Mark and welcome to the Club, Try the David Manners Group, who are Jaguar Specialists, Failing them Rimmer Bros or Barretts, Regards, Peter.
  25. Hi Roy, I eventually got it paired -- I think I did what you suggested without knowing it.. Regards, Peter.
