  1. Hi Simon, You will enjoy the Cotswolds when you meander through the lane in your Jaguar. We often have a day out in that area. Relaxing. Regards, Peter.
  2. During WW2, those who had cars and were allowed to use them had to disable the distributor when the car was parked for a long time, such as overnight. Peter.
  3. There was a local issue reported in the Weekly local free paper of a Mercedes being stolen by two this who used his laptop to hack into the lock system of a keyless entry car, while the key was in the house of the owner. And, although slightly off topic, I have heard that when you lock your car using the key fob, there is a widget that can cancel the locking signal. Several cars have been known to be looted -- sat naves, radio, and anything loose. Drivers have been advised to check that the car is locked, and never to use a key fob from a distance. Peter.
  4. In the Audi Owners Manual there must be a paragraph which states that drivers must never be behind another cat, and that they must also drive in the overtaking lane. As Joe says, the S Type is very comfortable and you can have a relaxed drive. Peter.
  5. Yesterday, I too a left turn out of our road. There was a car coming from my right well over 100 yards away, but the lunatic driving it suddenly accelerated very hard and attempted to overtake on a blind corner on a busy road. i was driving at the legal speed of 30 mph. Sadly this lunatic was driving a brand new Black F Type convertible. There is a very expensive private estate nearby which a favourite place to live for professional footballers. Peter.
  6. Hi Joe, I would love to go, as Cosford is a great place to visit. But I will be going to watch my Grandson carrying the flag at St George's Day Parade in Lichfield, and then taking SWMBO out for a posh meal to celebrate her birthday. Cosford is in my mind for a JOC meet in October, if enough people are interested. Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the club, Simon. You have a nice car to drive in a nice part of the country. Enjoy both! Regards, Peter.
  8. Hi Les, I have had many cars and found issues with most of them. Each had their plusses and their minuses. I find that my s type has poor visibility at the corner of the windscreen due to the A pillar, but on the other hand the 2.7 diesel has great economy and fantastic torque, and is a driver's car. My Rover Sterling 825 had great visibility, waa filled with every bell and whistle you could imagine, but was a passenger's car.. It could also take two sets of gold]f clubs on their trolleys in the boot when other cars I have owned do not. The vagaries between cars are great, and you soon get used t the differences, I just enjoy my Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Adrian, . Manuals to download are available for around £10 on several sites, although I have never bothered, as I have the Owners Manual. You won't need to down load of you have the one that comes with the car. The S type has a power source in the centre armrest cubby, and also one on the centre console itselfI would assume that the XF has a similar layout. I have no knowledge of the layout of the XF, but I think it is something similar. Regards Peter.
  10. Welcome to the club, Adrian. I am not au fait with the XF, but I am sure that there will be some members who will assist. The S type has two power sources so I am sure that the XF will have the same. You can download an Owners manual, which is worth doing. I am in Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield, but originally from Lancashire. Regards, Peter.
  11. Hi Adrian, I updated my Sat Nav from a 2005 disc to a 2012/13 disc for £29. You will be able to find a supplier for about the same kind of money via Google/ebay. Regards, Peter.
  12. Yes, Neil. Just press "Edit" click on the photograph and then delete. Peter.
  13. So that's who flashed his lights at me last October!
  14. Hi Steve, I don't think that the 2.0 litre Jaguar engine in the new XF is a Mondeo Engine, but rather the new Ingenium Engine from the Jaguar Engine plant near Wolverhampton. I don't know what the Government is thinking about doing to diesel engine owners in the next few years, although I do kn ow that excess pollution is not caused by diesel engines per se but rather all engines running when the vehicles are static in traffic jams. I would be inclined to wait and see - your car has a lot more miles in the engine - and keep you car for at east a year or so, unless you are concerned with depreciation. Regards, Peter.
  15. Welcome to the club, Nigel. The 2.0 litre Diesel is a well tried and trusted engine and has been know to last a long time -- over 200k miles. The Estate is a good workhorse too. My son has a 2006 model with over 100k on the clock, a but noisier than my s type 2.7D but a very good runner. Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Anna, and welcome to the club. I think you might need to look for another mechanic. I do believe your insurer will not be too happy if you have no alarm connected, so I would be looking to replace the sensor as an eventual cure Regards, Peter.
  17. Welcome to the club, Nick. Engine mount! That's where I would look too. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Geoff, Some good advice there. A lot depends on how bad the scratches are. If they are not too serious, it could be worth finding an unobtrusive one and use some Autoglym detailing spray which can also be used as a lubricant for a clay bar application. Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi Gary, When you find a good dealership loyalty kicks in on both sides. Red on an XFR looks great. There ia a black XFR I sometimes see in the local supermarket car park and it doesn't catch the eye. Regards, Peter.
  20. Welcome to the club, Daniel. Which car to buy is always dependent on what you want to do with it. If you want a big roomy car, then both the latest XF and the XJ are superb cars, quick and also sedate when you want them to be. If you want a smaller car then the XE comes in a variety of models. If it is a sports car you are looking for the F Type is the one to buy --- a great car -- I see two regularly round here. Jaguar has a great choice of cars available and I am certain that you will find the one you want, Regards, Peter.
  21. Welcome to the club, Dennis. Nice car and a good spec. Less sound system -- I guess that there is an optional extra to add a more expensive system. I have just had my alloys refurbished and repaired at a local specialist Two wheels needed repair and were, and all 5 wheels [I have a 'proper" spare wheel] were given the full treatment -- powder coating etc. A great job and well done and all for £520. Regards, Peter.
  22. Our daughter of similar age has forbidden me climbing on to the garage roof to repair it, but she won't allow me to get old! She loves my Jaguar! Peter.
  23. Nice to see you back, Stephen.
  24. Welcome to the club, Chris. There are a lot of friendly and helpful people, and I hope you join in. Regards, Peter.
  25. Hi Russ, I would get the battery checked -- It could well be on the way out. Most garages/accessory shops have the battery tester handy. My s type has been brilliant since I changed the battery a few days after Christmas -- no more "Parkbrake fault" or anything like that. Regards, Peter.
