Welcome to the club, Petri. There are many members who will assist with any issues you may have. You will enjoy your XJ, the Flagship of the Brand for many years. Regards, Peter.

Hi Alistair, There is a free App which you can get on a mobile 'phone called Vehicle Smart which gives you the detail of any car plus its MOT history which can be rather useful. Regards, Peter.

Hi Graham, It is possible that a good auto locksmith could do the job for less than £300. it also could be worth checking the price from an independent Jaguar specialist. Wiltshire Jaguar, who are trading members of the JOC, might bedworth a 'phone call. There are certain things I like in my car -- a spare key and a proper spare wheel. I have just bough SWMBO a Toyota Yaris Hybrid for a 50th Wedding anniversary present, which came with a can of gloop. I bought a matching alloy rim, a new tyre of the same brand as the others and a jack. I already had a wheelbase. They fit neatly in the boot. Regards, Peter.

Hi Paul, Some insurance companies are different than others in their attitude. I would be inclined to give your current insurance company a ring and ask the question. The 3.0 litre engine is a touch thirsty, though it didn't worry the drivers in the USA where it was very popular. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Carl. I think you will enjoy the XE Sport R. and there are some owners in the club who will give you some feedback. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Jeff. My sister used to live in Newcastle - on - Tyne and when I was going to visit her and her husband my mother actually put some coal into the boot of my car! You have a great car in the F-Type -- real classic lines, too, reminiscent of it's predecessor, which was really the E-Type. We make good cars in the West Midlands. Regards, Peter.

It was a good day, Steve. A meet around Easter is always a good idea, although not mine Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Alistair. The X type is very good car and although I have never driven one with the 2.1 V6 engine [I used to have a 2,5 V6 AWD] I have heard that it is a nice and rather smooth engine. With LPG it will be very suited to London. The very first X type did not sell very well, as they were merely rebadged Mondeo Ghias --- they sold less than 100 and were replaced by the 2.5 and 3.0 litre AWDs, the latter selling very well in the USA and Canada and the only thing Ford was engine and floor pan. Nothing wrong with that. The changes you are making sound interesting. Any help you may need will be forthcoming from some very expert members. Regards, Peter.

Hi Stephen, What is the number? Peter.

It Was a great day, made so by those who were there. I will thank Swansway Jaguar on behalf of the Club. The idea of an April meet annually springs to mind. I wonder if members would be interested in an October meet? Regards, Peter.

Nice ones, Joe. A few more than me -- I was getting a lot of information from Mary Sayer about he Dad for inclusion in the book I am currently writing. I have included a whole chapter about Malcolm Sayer, as he has been somewhat forgotten. By the way, your S Type is rather immaculate! Regards, Peter.

And it was a great morning. Sun shone as I promised, nice breakfast, nice people, nice cars, and an E type with the daughter [Mary Sayer] of the designer [Ms;cp;d Sayer] coming in style. Thanks to all, and thanks Mary, Regards, Peter.
-
And the genuine one are still quite cheap! Peter.
-
Hi Steve, I don't know what cars available for test drive, but they did car "Several". Should be a good morning. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Derek. I know the area in which you live very well. When I was working -- I worked in the Steel Industry all my life -- I had some good friends in Bridgend, Port Talbot, Ebbw Vale etc . I also worked at Shotton for 8 years! The S type is a great car and a very safe one. The top speed is over 140 mph which means it will stop at similar speed, and a doddle at 70 mph. Just enjoy your car --- your late wife would have loved it. Regards, Peter.

One less lunatic on the road for 5 years! And he could well fail the next test, Peter.

As previously posted, SWANSWAY JAGUAR have invited members of the JOC to breakfast at !0.00 am at their new dealership in CREWE on Sunday 2nd April. Swansway are a family owned group and well known in the North West, After breakfast there will be a tour of the dealership and test drives if you would like one. Swansway will also be giving JOC members a dual banded discount card. Also attending, at my invitation, will be Mary Sayer, the daughter of Malcolm Sayer, who designed the C-Type, D-Type and E-Type Jaguars and the XJS was designed from his drawings after his early death when only 53 years old. Thos who have put their name forward as attending DON'T FORGET , and those who have not put their names forward are still able to come along. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the club, Simon. My s type [07 plate] has the same system, and I updated the disc that was in fr a 2012 disc from a supplier via a google search for £29. Works fine. Sadly I loaned the original disc to a member who needed to test his system and he never returned it or answered a PM. Do get a spare key -- I go out of my was to ensure any car I have has got one. The spare remains in SWMBO's handbag, as the key for her car remains in my pocket. Wiltshire Jaguar is an independent jaguar Garage and also trading members of the club. Worth trying. Regards, Peter.

Welcome to the Club, Maynard. I was driving when there was no national speed limit in the UK. There were only speed limits of 30 mph and 40 mph though towns and cities, and some rural villages. But there were not many cars that could manage over 75 mph! Most of my motor cycles could touch 100 mph and often did -- but importantly when conditions were safe. And that is the crux! Bad drivers are those that don't follow the rules of the road and who also go too fast for the conditions at the time. Basically the speed limits are there on major road to curb those drivers who think that they are skilful and go too quickly when they should not. I have seen many drivers who have run out of fuel, but I have seen more who have run out of road! Regards, Peter.

Any more before next Sunday? Peter.

I had 29 years with a company car, and we changed to diesels for 5 years. The reason we changed to diesels was because the Government were told that CO2 emissions were causing more pollution that the diesels currently on the road, especially since the manufacturers of diesels were providing engines that were cleaner than the petrol engines then in vogue, which used leaded petrol. Possibly the worst pollution in the western world is in the USA -- Los Angeles -- where there are few diesels!

Welcome to the club, James. Swansway Jaguar have invited club members to their new Garage in Crewe on the 2nd April for breakfast and a good look around. There is an opportunity to meet other members and enjoy the day. Regards, Peter.

As far as I know, the Government is merely going to ensure that the requirement already in law/regulations are kept to. I understand that the MOT requirements which have been evaded and indeed promoted by some garages will be severely adhered to. The Diesel Particulate Filter, which can sometimes cause a problem with diesel cars when not properly regenerated, has been removed by some owners, as the MOT is only a visual test. The Government via the DVLA are going to check whether it has been removed by actually checking that. Age big problem with any car engine is that it might not be looked after properly and can fail on emissions. Being static in traffic any engine will use more fuel and hence cause more pollution. "Buses, Taxis, delivery vans etc use diesel engines, and the Government are well aware that "persecuting" the owners of diesel vehicles will not only put extra costs on the economy but put a lot of extra costs on the Government itself. Remember that Ships &Trains are mostly run on diesel engines. I went on a cruise last year and the ship I went on was only 18,500 tonnes displacement but had 4 huge diesel engines all running most of the time. Regards, Peter. P.S. I drive a diesel but SWMBO drives a Hybrid,
