  1. Hi Tim, I do a lot of short runs and find that using one of the various additives does assist with keeping the EGR valves and the DPF clean. My 2.7 Diesel also gets fed on Shell Vitro plus [ or whatever the premium diesel is called] and i have never had a problem. Preventative maintenance. Also I did treat the car to a terraclean service two years ago and it did make a difference. The DPF was added to some diesel engines in 2006 but not all, - only to those that did not meet EU4 directive. My son's 2.0 litre diesel on his x type does not have a DPF. Regards, Peter.
  2. Nice to get such a good result, Paul. You will certainly get to know the final result. Peter.
  3. Welcome to the club, Alex. My S type is Indigo Blue with Dove leather, also. Nice combination. I have heard that there is a very good indie in Milton Keynes - several members have commented on how good they are. I have a Nextbase dash cam that connects neatly with the power socket in the armrest cubby. From the windscreen the long lead fits into the slight gad, runs down the "A" frame kept in place with a couple of small pieces of foam rubber, under the carpet and into the socket. If you want it hard wired, there are quite a few auto electricians who advertise, and you can usually find a mobile service. Let us know how you get on. Regards, Peter.
  4. Hi Tristan, Nice touch! Peter.
  5. Welcome to the club, David. Joe and Andy have given you some very good tips of what to look for. The 3 litre Petrol engine in the s type is a well tried and well respected engine, and with 42 miles of the clock it has got a lot more miles in it. My 2.7 Diesel is a very reliable car, with only a water pump needing replacement in the last 4 years. While the s type in all its variants is a very quick car, it is also a car that can be driven sedately, and in my opinion is a future classic. Look for a car that is nice and straight and has plenty of optional extras fitted. Regards, Peter.
  6. Welcome to the club, Robert. The best I can find refers to some X Type accessory parts, and the colour looks alike a shade of beige. If you can find any better let us know, as it does seem a bit mysterious! Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the club, Dave. Nice in Black -- there is a Red model and a White model both seen locally and there is a lot of head turning. I think you will enjoy your Jaguar. Regards Peter.
  8. I think we have 16 people coming. As the auctioneer says, "do I see 20?" Peter.
  9. Thanks, Malc. I hope you will be able to get there. Regards, Peter.
  10. Hi Sean, An S type will not like standing around and it shows in the battery. I changed my battery after 4 years and 11 months, and a few minor issues disappeared. Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, Chris. I think that it should be similar to the S type, in which case press Menu on the RH side of the screen and then take it from there. Regards, Peter.
  12. Welcome to the club, Graham. You can get an Owners Handbook from various sources usually via the internet. There will also be someone selling on on eBay as well. Let us know how you get on. Regards Peter.
  13. Will do, Paul. Nice to see a Lancastrian coming! Regards, Peter. Lancastrian in exile.
  14. Thanks, Marc. It will be good day. The dealership only opens the day before. Regards, Peter
  15. Plenty of room Steve. I will update the list. Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi, I gad a water pump starting to fail last June. Not a bad leak and I was able to use the car, topping up when needed, but I had the water pump replaced. Peter.
  17. There must be more members interested. I need to know the numbers so I can tell Swansway. Peter.
  18. This meet is now just 4 weeks away, and I thought that there would be more members wanting to spend a sunny Sunday morning having breakfast in a new Jaguar Showroom, surrounded by all current models, and with the opportunity to test drive some of them. We are often asked to organise meets, but surprisingly, when we do we get very little enthusiasm to come along. Let's see some interest! Regards, Peter.
  19. Hi Dan, Does the engine overheat? Not being an engineer, and driving a diesel car, which takes it's time getting to its normal operating temperature, I am guessing that the fan only kicks in when the engine needs cooling, which is when the car is not getting the thrust of air on it. Regards, Peter.
  20. Welcome to the club Karl. Joe has given you the best solution. A minor repair can work OK, but giving it away is the best solution with a caveat. My son had a blowout two weeks ago, and I took the wheel to see if it could be repaired. The well respected place I took it too checked it out using some specialist equipment, and threw it on the scrapheap as there was the possibility of another blow out. Regards, Peter.
  21. Welcome to the club, Alun. Changing the oil is a probably good solution. Although sealed for life, many members find than changing the oil at about 70k does improve the gearbox performance. And £200 for the car is less than the price of the wheels! Regards, Peter.
  22. I have just bought a Toyota Yaris Hybrid [couldn't afford an F Type] for SWMBO as a 50th Wedding anniversary present. It came with a full service, an MOT as it was just 2 years and 9 months old, and a two year and 3 months warranty. I was also able to check the MOT by using a App called Vehicle Smart and found that it came with no advisories. Peter.
  23. Hi Arthur, Try Global Auto Salvage who use eBay. I have just sourced a "proper" matching alloy wheel from them for SWMBO's Toyota Yaris. Good service.
  24. Welcome to the club, Donovan. The s type is a great car, and its good to see younger people appreciating it. However it is susceptible to niggles in the electrics if the battery is not up to it. The life of a battery is about 5 years, and I changed mine at the end of December when it was 4 years and 10 months old, as I was having an electrical problem. Problem cured immediately. The s type will shut down unnecessary electrical items if the battery is failing. On the other matters, my engine is the 2.7 diesel -- quite different from the 3.0 litre petrol, but you will get some assistance from other members. Regards, Peter.
  25. Welcome to the club, Arthur. Tom has offered some very good advice, and all I can add is that I have never had a DPF problem, and I do a lot of short runs. I do use Shell V Power and would recommend it. Regards, Peter.
