  1. i have known the Cat and Fiddle pass for many years from when as a Teenager I used to cycle over the pass to Buxton with my cycling club. Then it was the Motorbikes, and then when I went to live in Derbyshire it was a regular day out in the car. Peter.
  2. Not me, Joe. Those that think that should have a look around them when they are driving, and realise that Audi Drivers need to be in front of you and BMW drivers are always trying to force others to move over when they want to overtake by flashing their lights and tailgating. There are a lot of Jaguars where I live and the drivers are impeccably courteous. Peter.
  3. Welcome to the Club, Peter. I have had the pleasure of sitting in a similar one. Great car. We do make great Cars in Brummagem and in the City of Coventry Regards, Peter.
  4. Without being patriotic, the Cat and Fiddle pass in Derbyshire is pretty good! Peter.
  5. The Ring of Kerry is a great drive, either my car or Motor Cycle. Peter.
  6. Hi Russ, All the wood used in Jaguars are the real thing. The s type uses Maple Veneer, as does most of the X Types, and there is some Burr Walnut on some top of the range models. I must say that I am a fan of the wood veneer. Peter.
  7. I still have my tool kit for the old cars --- an adjustable spanner and a lump hammer!
  8. Welcome to the Club, Mick. I am inclined to agree with David. There are plenty of Jaguar X Type estates around and the possible higher price you might pay for a SE could well be lower that the cost of upgrading the interior. Regards, Peter.
  9. All S types had the Maple Dashboard etc trim, other than the Sport versions which had the aluminium trim. But each to their own own. I like the maple trim just as much as Iiked the Burr Walnut in my Rovers over the years. I do like trees! Peter.
  10. Sometimes they are not too up to date. It is an area where there appears to be a lot of new builds. i am fairly certain we will be able to find it! Regards, Peter.
  11. Hi Andrew, I did some research and found that Goodyear Eagle assimetric come out top with an A rating for handling and stopping in the wet, and quiet running, & with a very good C rating for fuel consumption. Vredestein came a good second. If you go on to Halfords website and go to tyres, it will give you a good survey result with the ratings on each tyre. You will also find that there are some budget tyres which are good value for money. Regards, Peter.
  12. Welcome to the club, Steve. Having a proper spare wheel gives you peace of mind. My son had a blow out two weeks ago which damaged the alloy wheel too much to repair. I manages to get a brand new Alloy to match for £180 from a small wheel refurbishment company in Lichfield. All now well! Regards, Peter.
  13. Hi Paul, It does the same for me! I don't know Crewe very well but I do know that Swansway Jaguar is very close to the railway Station and using the postcode I am sure it will be easy to find on a Sunday Morning. If you google Swansway Garages - Crewe, it will show you how big the new building will be. I look forward to seeing you there. Regards, Peter.
  14. You can get a full size steel wheel for under £100, if you can't find a matching alloy. I have just bought SWMBO a Toyota Yaris Hybrid a 50th Wedding anniversary present and it had a Gloop Kit. It will have a proper spare within a couple of weeks! I already have the steel brace and a Jack in the garage. Much more peace of mind! Peter.
  15. Welcome to the club, Dai. I used to visit Port Talbot Steelworks before I retired. I used to enjoy a drink or two with some of the lads from the works. Regards, Peter.
  16. Thanks Duncan. It will be a good day. Peter.
  17. I carry one as well, Joe --- But I might need a new one soon as I have had this car for nearly 4 years. Peter.
  18. That's great, Phil. Thank You.
  19. Welcome to the club, Lashaun Leaving the battery out for such a length of time can leave the key fob without its normal performance. I happened to a car my son had and the battery was only out for a couple of hours. Regards, Peter.
  20. Hi Richard, Just ask a main dealer. They have all the detail via their computer. There is also a website vindecoderz that sometimes works. Regards, Peter.
  21. Looking good, Richard. I am very enamoured of the s Type - I wanted one in 1965! Even SWMBO says how clean mine is! Regards, Peter.
  22. Hi Dave, I am not sure what the other tube is --- I'm from the lump hammer and adjustable spanner era!. I would out that removing the EGR valves for cleaning was not an easy job, and one of them was more difficult than the other. I have managed by using spray and additives for almost 4v years. Regards, Peter.
  23. Hi Dave, No. Wrong place. I has to be sprayed into the air intake. You should take out your air filter keep the lid prized up and using the extension spray into the air intake. My air filter won't lift at the moment due to it being fitted on tightly after the last service! I have been using an additive from Miller Oils, which does the job and saves me taking off the filter. Photo 1. Engine compartment. 2. Air filter. 3. The Air intake --- after the filter the intake come our and then dips at a 90 degree angle. Regards Peter.
  24. Welcome to the club, Richard. The X type is a very good car, and the 2.0 litre diesel is a well tested workhorse. My son has an estate in the same colour and with the same engine. Having a good mechanic is a great asset, too. Enjoy. Regards Peter.
  25. Welcome to the Club, Spencer. Was the fuel return pipe slipping off. The Jubilee clip would be an easy fix it it was. My car is a diesel and all the pipes fit nicely. Other thoughts? Regards Peter.
