  1. Welcome to the club, Chris. At a guess, I would say that you could have some electrical problems, though someone with more electrical skills than me could probably give more detail. Regards Peter.
  2. Hi Paul, The Jag Specialist at Armthorpe, Doncaster is very well recommended by a lot of members. Unit 7a Armthorpe DN3 3EB --- 07801 215 834. Regards, Peter.
  3. Hi Richard, I bought by son a small widget that allows him to play music from his iPhone. I don't know much about these iPods and suchlike --- electric things still mystify me! Regards, Peter.
  4. Welcome to the club, David. Feel free to ask questions -- there are quite a few s type owners who will assist. Regards, Peter.
  5. Hi Jon, There is an event on the 2nd April at Swansway Garages in Crewe -- Have a look at my post INVITATION TO THE JOC. I am hoping that there will be a big array of JOC members cars on their forecourt. Regards, Peter.
  6. Hi All, This will be a very good occasion for a meet, with a good breakfast and a great opportunity to view and test drive some great Jaguars. I hope members will support this event, and get their names on the list. Regards, Peter.
  7. Welcome to the club, Chris. Great cars! Having two Jaguars is a bit like having two pets -- You love them both! Regards, Peter.
  8. Welcome to the Club, Jon. I used to have the same model and I found it a great car - a really good roadholder and surprisingly quick. You will get a lot of assistance with any issue you might have. I hope you enjoy the club as well as your Jaguar. Regards, Peter.
  9. Hi Don, Joe has given you a definite answer. My S type had an engine change by Jaguar under warranty in 2009 at 21800 miles. I was told it was an oil pump failure. Swopping with a similar engine should be quite easy for a skilled mechanic, and the 2.7 Diesel is a very good engine. Regards Peter.
  10. Welcome to the club, Don. I don't think that it is a daft question. The XF has the 2.7 litre Diesel in its earlier models and then changed to the 3.0 litre diesel, so I think that it could be a goer. I hope an engineer agrees with me! Regards, Peter.
  11. Welcome to the Club, Simon. That price is a good one. My son paid £3300 for a 2.0 D Sport on a 06 plate 18 months ago. The x type is a very nice car to drive and I think you will enjoy it. Any advice and assistance you may have, there is also someone around to help. Regards, Peter.
  12. Why Jaguar did not put a keyhole for the boot lid I do not know. The S Type has one, and very useful it has been to me! Peter.
  13. Have a look at the Invitation to JOC Members, George.
  14. Hi All, We have received an invitation to the opening event of the new Jaguar Dealership in Crewe by Swansway Garages. Swansway Garages are a family owned business that have quite a few franchises across the West Midlands and the North West of England, with their Headquarters in Crewe, which is easily accessible across the whole of the Region. There will be Breakfast on arrival at 10.00 am on Sunday, 2nd of April 2017, followed by a Tour of the brand new purposely built premises. There will be full range of current Jaguar Models, plus other cars, and those attending can have a test drive. Swansway have offered a £500 discount on cars purchases [on top of other offers] plus a 15% discount to all JOC members until June. This is a great opportunity for all members of the JOC to meet in a very pleasant environment to view the new models, to chat to each other and get to know other members who your have "talked" to but never met. IMPORTANT: Swansway would like an indication to know how many will attend, and to that end please attach your name plus the number of others with you. Wives/ partners are welcome and it could be a very pleasant day out. The address of the new Dealership is Beswick Road, Crewe, and the Postcode is CW1 5NP. I look forward to a good number of members and their cars being there on the day. Regards, Peter. List of attendees: Just reply as below and I will update the list. Old Peter [Peter Lightfoot] + 1 Phil Ellis. Duncan Campbell + 1 Paul 65. + 1 Steve Hutchings + 1 Marc B Paul Hesketh +1. William and Pauline. Mike Hammond +1 Malcolm. Mary Sayer Daughter of Malcolm Sayer, designer of the D Type, E Type and XJS +2
  15. Welcome to the Club, H. The XKR is a future classic in my opinion. There are quite a few XKR owners in the club who will share their experiences and assist with ant issues. Regards, Peter.
  16. Hi Phil, Badges on the back of cars are sometimes a reflection of a wish by a previous owner. I have seen an 1196cc Triumph Herald with a GT badge! Regards, Peter.
  17. Hi Mike, Jaguar will give you the factory details of your car if you give them the VIN number. I got mine and found that it was came off the line on the 13th March 2007. It does not tell you whether it was the first but the date could give you an indication. Regards, Peter.
  18. Hi Liam, I have never had this problem, but I think that £65 + VAT for a diagnostic readout is a bit steep. The price for a new turbo that he has quoted is within the price range and I guess that it would take three hours. At the same time, and before you have the job done, I would check what the labour charge would be, as I feel that if the diagnostic readout was £65, then the hourly rate could well be £130 an hour. If that is so, the total price would be circa £900. I would try to negotiate on the hourly rate, if you need him to do the job. You could have a look at the turbocharger specialists who supply and fit turbochargers to see what their price would be for supplying and fitting one, and `if could be worth the fuel cost to take your car to them, On the bright side, there is only one turbocharger -- there are two on the s type 2.7D Regards, Peter.
  19. Welcome to the club, Mike. In 2008, 53 were built, in 2009 there were 360, in 2010 there were 26, and in 2011 there was just 1. The model was discontinued when the XFR was introduced. Total = 440. And I hope you continue to enjoy your car, and the club. Regards, Peter.
  20. Thanks, Gary.
  21. Hi Trevor, Sadly, I do not know. It was just a passing glance just before the Supermarket was closing! Peter.
  22. I saw a Headline on the Cover of a Motoring Magazine yesterday. The Range Rover Vetar, a two door version of the Range Rover with a remarkable resemblance to the Evoque, but larger, is scheduled to appear in the Summer.
  23. My son has an X Type 2.0 Diesel Sport on an 06 plate, and his powerfold mirrors have a button fitted on the door panel which controls the windows. If there is not a button, powerfold might not be installed. It wasn't installed on my x type SE. Peter.
  24. Welcome to the club, Rodney. I am lucky enough to have a real spare wheel in my boot. And the same with previous cars. But having said that the last puncture I had was in 2001. I does give me a sense of security, though. Regards, Peter.
  25. Hi Joe, I thought that it would be limited but eventually I found one that charged in dull conditions. An LED flashes when it is charging. Regards, Peter.
