Hi Paul I've had it off a reliable source that at best you looking at 30bhp tops,which still leaves you well short of the 275bhp that the s has. Another thing to consider is my car is fitted with 20" alloys to cope with the larger braking system,I'am almost certain the the discs/ callerpers/pads etc are larger, I would also research gearbox. Hi Graham, I just can't get my head round you having to change the whole unit for a bulb !! You obviously have the upgraded unit, I have the 2011 premium with original headlights and bulb changes are no problem. I personally have no faith in anything jaguar say a second oppinion is def recommended,my daughter had a similar experience with her golf when the door mirror indicator bulb blew she was told she needed a hole unit at well over £100, from main dealer, local garage changed it for less then £10. If it turns out that the whole unit does need replaced you can pick them up on eBay for around £150. Hope the os isn't ready to go as well,good luck. Regards Dave.

Hi Frank I own the premium 3.0 s and I drive with the auto on all the time as well, never got dashboard warning light when my head light burnt out. I would replace both bulbs I think cost about £4.00 each if that, then if the same thing happens you've spent minimum to rule out the coincidental card. Don't take it to jaguar for bulb replacement it's only three bolts, two under bonnet on top of the head light unit and the stupidest bolt ever in the wheel arch holding the back of the unit. You never know it could be job done and you carry on getting your cuddles !! Regards Dave

Hi Paul, I know this is not jaguar related but my brother had exactly the same problem with a Citroen it turned out to be an airlock in the fuel line, it took a few minutes for it to travel up the line then it would start. It's uncanny just like yourself the time it took for help to arrive it would start, Sometimes it would be fine for days. I hope this might at least give you something to look at. Regards Dave

Hi eddie, It's only happend to me on one occasion waiting for the wife (shops) I think it's just Jaguars way of looking after us. As for the DPF every now and then leave your brains in a bucket at home, switch to sport mode, press dynamic button, paddle shift only, and enjoy WOW. probley never see it again. Hi Richard. Let me say how sorry I am that you've had so many problems, been there and have the T shirt but with a Mercedes !! what a pile it was, would not own another Merc EVER. But the XF is in another league this is my second jag never had a pick of bother with mine best car I've owned and I've had a few, think we both just got bad cars what's that saying Monday morning car or a Friday afternoon. Thanks all for your response, just an update, went straight to the top today spoke with head of customer care at head office, will keep names out of post for now, but full details have been recorded and I will be receiving correspondence in the next few days. Got a quote for the tyres from another Strastone branch just to see how much I would of been out of pocket £814.60 inc vat. Ouch

Hi all, must tell you about Strastone jaguar Houghton le spring, my XF is part of the MOT for life program, so I booked it in for its second year MOT on Thursday 9 July 2015 full of confidence it would sail through, it was immaculate and running perfect. To my horror they failed it on all four tyres that have only done about eleven thousand miles, saying they were all split and showing the internal braiding on the tyre walls, I was in horror having only just polished and dressed the wheels in tyre wall, when I saw my car I asked where are the splits etc ? They informed me the damage to the walls we're all on the inside of the vehicle !! They put it on full lock and showed me a small split on one of the front wheels. Four tyres on twenty inch alloys is not cheap (225 x 35 x 20 ) I drove away in the knowledge I could probably get a better deal elsewhere on four tyres, but still looking at a bill of around a grand. It was then that I decided to get a second opinion and drove to a friends MOT centre to let him inspect the car, having done so, he informed me that the tyres were in no way close to a MOT failure. I immediately contacted Strastone and spoke with the maintenance manager and told him that I've had a second opinion and the tyres are fine, the reply was, well it's your mechanics opinion against ours, I said you have tried to rip me of to the tune of a thousand pounds plus, it meant nothing. So to settle this matter I drove straight to my VOSA test station to let them inspect the vehicle, as you probably know they are the gods of the MOT world, they wrote the book. They inspected the tyres and instructed me to immediately appeal against Strastone which I did straightaway, filling in the appropriate paper work and a cheque for £55.00.the next step would be a full on VOSA MOT in a few days time at a totally independent garage with jaguar management in attendance, at this point I was livid so contacted Strastone and asked to speak to the MD and informed him that VOSA have inspected the vehicle and suggest I appeal against there MOT decision thinking that now he must realise something is not right and to return the car so another technician could give a second opinion, instead his reply was, we would prefer the matter to be dealt with through VOSA, I thought he must think I am bluffing !! So this took place on Thursday 16 July 2015 having under the advise of VOSA kept the car parked up to minimise the miles,(82) and a full hour and half later it passed with flying colours with one tyre having an advisory, the same tyre they showed me after there MOT. I asked for the two reps from jaguar one being the guy who did the MOT the other his manager to verify that these are the same tyres that they had failed last week while stood in front of the VOSA reps, I had heard that they could use the 'cop out' that they weren't the same tyres they failed, because I have changed them, the mechanic said they look the same and after a few choice words from myself the manager agreed that they were indeed the very same tyres, so that was them proper banged to rights. That same afternoon a few hours later a received a phone call from the MD asking if I would meet him at work for a chat, which I did yesterday Saturday 18 July 2015 he said sorry blar blar !! But it was an utter waste of my time yet again. Hi Jim, yes you need to remove the full unit, two bolts on top and the stupidest of all bolts ever, inside weel arch directly behind the unit. I just but car in full lock for easy access. Regards Dave

Hi all been a wile since posted anything on site but just had a weekend in Surrey and thought I would just give some facts and figures on my fuel consumption for the journey. Let's start with my car, it's an XF 3.0d s 2011 premium luxury with just over 50,000 mile on clock. The journey was from Newcastle upon Tyne to Guildford in Surrey a total of 307 mile. I filled the car to the brim to the cost of £70.00 @ £1.19 per litre, I cleared both trip computers to zero, and the car told me I had a range of 385 mile. I set the cruse control to 75 mph and set off. On arrival the computers read distance 307.6 / Av speed 51.2 / Av fuel 39.2 / range remaining 182. For the return joinery I put £30.00 to top up, but this time never used cruse control but let's say I wasn't the slowest on the road

Hi Raymond, Same thing happened to me few weeks ago, just to confirm it was the battery, me and the wife tend to use the same fob, so I picked up the spare which rarely gets used and the car worked a treat. Replacing the battery was straight forward.

Hi William, My car does the same,it's the S with the boot spoiler on,opens about six inches, I've tried a bit of WD but made know difference. Someone on YouTube oiled the struts and it opened fully (short term) It's never really been an issue for me but it would be good to find out if it should open fully end of !. Regards Dave.

Hi Charles, Just working from my own experience, have you had any engine work done? Could have oil dripping on to manifold especially when your gunning it. Or have you had new brake pads fitted? They could be binding on, wheel will be hot to the touch.(carefully very hot.) I think it's about what kind of smell it is,electrics would be a pretty strong smell. Regards Dave.

Hi All, Started having problems today with the keyless operation of my car, it would bleep twice and not lock using the drivers door handle push button. Knowing from experience that the key fob battery would probably need replaced I googled XF fob battery change to find out how it comes apart but found nothing except one owner was charged £31.00 from dealer !!. So I remembered the wife had bought a packet of those 3v flat watch type battery's from pound store for the bathroom scales and thought how hard can it be. Well it turns out it was simple,you don't even need tools, so if any XF owners need to change the battery this is how it's done. First remove the key,then gently prise away the chrome sides, they are just a snap fit. Carefully separate the black housing along the joint again snap fit,take care the fine spring for the key release doesn't fall out ! Remove the battery, drop in the new one (3v cr2032 ) and but it back together,reverse order, go to the car and press away with the same smile I had, job done. I hope this helps a few members out in the future and saves a few hard earned quid. Regards Dave .

Hi All, I don't believe I have just scuffed my front near side alloy! Dam it ! That's normally the wife's job !! Has anyone used, are is using Rimblades, Halfords have them for £30 set of four, but what are they like in the real world. Cheers Dave.
