  1. I had the same problem. After a lot of faffing about, I got a CD disc cleaner kit and cleaned the laser head in the CD changer in the boot with an ear bud and Cd liquid cleaner. Worked a treat and since then I haven't had a problem with the CD changer. It works fine!
  2. I had the same problem last night, except it was the dipped offside that went out. I gave the headlight a 'thump' and the light came back to full illumination again. Checked all connections this morning and couldn't see anything loose.
  3. Hi Trevor Can't argue with that. We have a BP and Esso in town, nearest supermarket is 8 miles away. I found using Esso or BP and a Terraclean made a considerable difference. I will use supermarket fuel only as a last resort. James
  4. My local Esso was selling petrol at 1.06/litre for petrol and 1.11/litre for diesel. I'll just stick with forecourt diesel as I maintain a decent mpg and the engine seems run a lot smoother although I do add a shot of Millers when filling up.
  5. Paul Many thanks for the photo's. It wasn't that obvious where the plunger went till I saw your photo's. The offending article is back in place assisted with some seriously strong glue!! The other one is nowhere to be seen so a trip to a scrappie might be on the cards Once again thank you James
  6. Hi Trevor. yes the boot light does still work. Paul, thanks - look forward to the photos Thanks guys
  7. Opened my boot lid yesterday and found this 'Plunger' in the gutter underneath the boot lid spring. I cannot see where it might have come from as there doesn't appear to be any position on the boot lid that it would fit. I would be grateful if someone could tell what it is and where is should be positioned. Thanks
  8. Problem solved! A new reversing light switch cured the parking aid and reversing lights.
  9. Thanks Peter, I'll give it a go!
  10. Hi My reversing lights and park aid stopped working at the same time. Are they in any way connected? I have checked the fuses and they are ok. A day before this happened I put the car through a car wash which normally doesn't affect the the park aid sensors. I would be grateful for any ideas or advice Thanks James
  11. Trevor I most certainly will! Thank you James
  12. HI My fuel filler cap won't open when the lever under the drivers seat is pulled. I have to stick a key in between the filler cap and the body then pull the lever to open the cap. Is there any easy way round to adjust the operating wire(?) between the lever and the locking mechanism? Thanks for any advice James
  13. Success!! Finally got my cd changer to work. I took the unit out of the car, took the cover off (Managed to find all the little bits and spring that shot off in different directions) Cleaned the head with cd cleaner fluid, put everything back and the unit is now working as it should.
  14. Hi Trevor Tried the tap with a screwdriver on both magazines and no luck. However, I noticed that the lead from the changer unit was probably not plugged in properly. When I plug this lead into the lead coming from the front of the car, it doesn't 'click' in and is quite loose. I will take the unit out tomorrow and try and get the 2 leads to mate with a 'click' Regards James
  15. Just had my 2.0d remapped by Celtic Tuning. The engine was a little on the sickly (!) side before the remapp, but a new EGR valve and a new inter-cooler hose which had a slight split in it has made the world of difference. The car now goes as though it's on steroids... Fantastic
  16. HI I still have the same problem with my cd changer. There is power to the changer, but when the CD button is pressed on the radio unit, 'CDC No Discs' appears on the display. The cd cartridge is full with 6 cd's. In set up mode, I get CDC 2.0300 on the display. Can anyone tell me what this means and do I have to push another combination of buttons to get the cd changer to be recognised that there are discs in the cd cartridge. Local Jaguar dealer couldn't sort this problem out! Thanks for any advice
  17. I have a 2004 X Type with a cd changer unit in the boot. I had to leave the car for 6 weeks and had a flat battery when I returned. Once the battery was charged, everything worked except the cd player. There is power to the cd changer as I can get the magazine out normally. The radio unit shows 'No Magazine' The radio unit shows 'CD1 NO DISC' when the cd button is pushed, yet the magazine is full of discs and there is power to the cd changer. I have unplugged the leads and then plugged them back in. I have also disconnected the battery and then connected again in the hope it might 're boot' the system. Nothing seems to work. Is there something I am missing or is there some combination of buttons to push on the radio unit to get it to recognise the cd changer is loaded with discs. Any advice would be welcome, Thanks
  18. Thanks Trevor, I'll give your suggestion a go and see what happens. James
  19. Hi Trevor I tried everything you suggested to no avail. I don't have a eject button for cd's as the cd's are in a cartridge in the boot. I tried pressing a combination of all the buttons and nothing came up on the display. Regards James
  20. I left my car for 6 weeks. Came home to a flat battery which I charged and everything worked ok, except for the cd player. There is power to the disc cartridge unit and there are discs in the trays. When I press the CD button on the radio unit, the display shows 'No cd disc'. Am I missing something simple? Can anybody point me in the right direction Thanks
  21. Followed the above, and yes it is easy. Thanks for the link,
  22. I have sourced and fitted a new (Used) mirror, however the glass is cracked. How easy is it to replace the glass? I have seen somewhere a video of this being done but cannot find on the internet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  23. Some idiot came round a bend in the middle of the road and took out my offside mirror. Does anyone know if there is an idiots, step by step guide as how to take off the remnants of the mirror and fit a new on? It is a power folding and heated mirror. Thanks James
