Have been having problems with the radio ,acm, single cd, 6 cd changer and Phone, suddenly i lost the sound on everything and thought it was going to be a major problem but after i disconnected the Battery and reconnected it after 30 minutes everything is back to normal except for the 6 cd changer which is still showing on the touchscreen display ( no discs ). I have heard that some owners just need to switch off and on again and everything comes back on, but that didn't work for me ,hope this is off some help to other members. Regards Tom.

Hi Les. I'm like you i do about 6,000 per year, it doesn't matter about mileage per year as long as we don't do a lot of short journeys as the engine doesn't reach the temperature needed to start a Regeneration. And another thing is the Air Conditioning they say it should be used at least once a week to stop the seals from leaking which I'm afraid i never do and always keep the climate control setting to Auto as this stops any misting. Regards Tom.

Hi Jes. Yes checking the Dipstick is a nightmare, the way Cubist mentioned is probably the best way off checking the Dipstick. As you mentioned about having a Diesel Particulate Filter, i hope you have used a Low Ash C1 Oil WSS M2C 934B this number is not mentioned in the x type Handbook and jaguar couldn't advise me on the oil needed to use with an engine with a DPFILTER. It was Castrol who gave me the information that i needed, when filling with oil i just add 5 and1/2 litres some xj owner's those with a Dipstick have the level between the low level and maximum level so that if a Regeneration is disrupted and diesel enters the sump it won't push the level above the maximum level which can cause problems. The best way is to change oil and use genuine jaguar fuel and oil filters and remember how much oil you have added and when the next time you check the oil level and providing that you have know leaks and the Dipstick is showing a level below the minimum level do not add Oil as this is your first reaction and if you have know oil warning light you should be quite happy that everything is as it should be. I checked my oil level yesterday and had 2 readings with the level below minimum so i am going out now to do another check. With having a Diesel Particulate Filter you should never switch off the engine when a Regeneration is taking place the way you will know it is happening, is the Revs will be higher by about 150 when the engine is idling and the exhaust will making a noise like it has a hole in it and their also could be a burning smell also some members also see less miles per gallon when a Regeneration is taking place. I use premium diesel and sometimes drive quite aggressively and using the Revs like when coming out off a roundabout and touch wood i have had know problems with the DPFilter. Regards Tom.

Hi Lloyd. Welcome to the club and enjoy your XF, you'll get plenty off advice on here if you need it. Regards Tom.

Hi John. These are not genuine jaguar alloys, i think you'll need to check out alloy websites to try and find them unless any other members can help you. Regards Tom.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is engine oil, do you know what oil is in your engine it should be a Low Ash C1 Oil. I use a WSS M2C 934B C1 Low Ash Oil this number is not mentioned in the Handbook on the x type and dealers were and maybe are still using the 913 B oil in the x type which will cause the DPFILTER to get blocked as it is not a Low Ash C1 Oil . I've had my x type for 4:5 year's and have never had a full dpf warning come on, i've seen or heard a Regeneration happening ( ie idling revs higher than normal, a louder sound from the exhaust, and some members say they can see a lower mpg showing ). I use Shell V Power Diesel like old Peter and keep the engine revving higher at times especially coming out of a roundabout. Regards Tom.

Hi Chris. Welcome to the club, you have a very nice xe i think blue is the best colour. A report on how you get on with your car and more photos would be good. Regards Tom. -
Welcome to the club. The x type is a great car and still gets plenty off comments on the shape and as long as you service it ( only use genuine jaguar oil and fuel filters ) it will serve you well. The only real issue with some cars are the metal sills rusting at the front or rear behind the plastic cover sills. Regards Tom.
-
Hi Keith. I think the only way to is to Pop Rivet or Glue a plastic strip onto the affected part, I don't know if you are looking for another Bumper there is a Blue Rear one on EBay. Regards Tom.

As David says use a high grade of Fuel, i use Shell v power diesel when at all possible.

Hi Keith. I think you should get the service message deleted and then go from there and then see if the message comes back on, you don't say if your Jag is an Auto I take it it is but the reason for only putting in 5:5litres of Oil in the Engine is that if a Re-Gen is interrupted(ie engine switched off during a Re-Gen) diesel can enter the Sump which is not good( that's why your service message could be a warning that there is diesel in the Sump I'm just surmising that this would happen on our x type's but members say that this warning does happen on s type's). The main thing is that you know how much oil is in the Engine and check the Oil Level quite regularly ( i don't know if you have found out that the Oil dipstick is very difficult to get a proper reading, the way most members check the Oil Level is to start the engine and get the Oil circulated then switch off the Engine and leave for about 10 minutes then check the Oil dipstick about 3 or 4 times to get a proper reading.) You don't say how many miles your Jag has covered but another thing I would like to mention is that the jubilee clips on the hoses from the turbo/egr to the intercooler do rust and a hose can get blowen off, the best thing is to replace with stainless steel jubilee clips. I hope i haven't made you think what have i bought all new diesels have DPFilters now a days and some are a lot more problematic that the x type the secret is to know your Car and regularly check all fluids. The x type is a great car and it has a timing chain and not a timing belt so that's one thing less to worry about.lol. Enjoy your x type Keith they're great car's I'm on my third x type now. Regards Tom.

Hi Keith. After a Service that information should be Deleted, you say you have had a problem with the DPFilter so it maybe connected to the DPFilter needing a forced Regeneration. On my x Type I've had that message come on Service Required in 1200/1500 miles only once when it was actually due a Service in the mileage shown. But i think it was something to do with the DPFilter as this message has never come on again when a Service is due in over 4 years off owning the x type. I take it you have a 6 Speed Auto if you have a DPFILTER, as the Manuel 6 Speed Gearbox the DPFilter was an optional extra. You say it has a full jaguar service history, i would ask them what engine oil they have used as with a DPFilter you need a Low Ash Oil (WSS-M2C C1 934 B) this OIL number is not mentioned in the Handbook and if they are using the Oil Numbers in the Handbook this could be one off the causes that you are having with the DPFilter because you need a Low Ash Oil, it has been known that dealer's have not used the proper oil for a Car with a DPFilter. And use only Genuine jaguar oil and fuel filters, and only fill the engine with 5:5 litres of Oil. Diesel car's are mean't to be Driven as members say give it a Italian tune now and again don't keep the Revs below 2,000 all the time ,it is recommended that if you do lot of short journeys to take the car out for a longish journey every 3/4weeks and keep the Revs above 2,500. And if a Re-Gen is happening they say you shouldn't switch off the Engine and go for a 20 minute drive ( I have only ever noticed a Re-Gen when i stopped in a car park and with the engine ticking over it sounded that there was a Hole in my exhaust) touch wood I have never had any problems with the DPFilter. Regards Tom.

Welcome to the Forum. You will have to check the offset on the alloys to see if they will fit, some s type alloys won't fit.

Hi Arthur. Welcome to the Club. The x Type with the 2-2 litre and 6 auto is a great car, but there are 1or 2 things to do and keep your eye on. First is you need a Low Ash Engine Oil because the Engine has a DPFilter(WSS-M2C 934-B) is the Number for the Oil and this is not mentioned in the Handbook as the DPFilter was added to the 6 speed auto, before it was an optional extra. Only add 5.5 litres of Oil instead of 6 litres and only use Genuine Jag Fuel and OIL Filters. I buy my own Oil and Filters and give them to the Garage to Fit them. With diesel' s you have to drive them as if you had stolen the car or as some members do give it a Italian tune and make sure you give it a good long run every 3/4 weeks this is to help keepthe DPFilter from getting blocked, the car will do a Regeneration some times and it is difficult to know when a Regen is happening you may see a drop in miles per gallon or when stopping your exhaust will sound louder than usual if this is happening don't switch off the Engine because you should take the car for a 20 minute run when the Engine is at normal working temperature.Don't keep the Revs below 2000 all of the time. Having had mine for 4 years I haven't had any problems with the DPFilter. Enjoy your x Type. Regards Tom.

Hi Joe. Thank You. I've downloaded the PDF Manual. Regards Tom.

Hi Andy. I would stay with 17in wheels, i've driven a x type with 18in alloys and didn't like it at all had a job holding it in a straight line. I like wheels that are easy to clean(ie not many spokes mine has 5 spoke Barbados alloys) you could keep your present wheels and use them with winter tyres and keep your new alloys for the summer. Regards Tom.
-
Thanks Joe for posting the details above. There are two sensors on the back bumper which are not flush with the face of the bumper, seemingly they are glued or silicone to the bumper and they seem to be sliding inwards. I've probably pushed on them when washing the car, and with your help I can now have a look and see if I can get them sorted. Regards Tom.

Hi Don. Most jag dealers use shell helix ultra C1 WSS-M2C 934-B so i am told , as Castrol used to be the Oil that was used but some use Mobil Oil which is not a C1 Oil. I haven't any experience with the s type but if it has a DPFilter i would use a C1 Oil and always use a Genuine Jaguar Oil Filter and sometimes drive it as if you had stolen the s type, as with a DPFilter the Engine as with all newish diesels has to be worked, don't always keep the Revs below 2.000. Regards Tom.

Hi Phil. I changed from Pirellis to Goodyear Asymmetric which i find very good, it depends on what price you want to pay and also what rating you want for on wet roads, fuel economy, noise level. Go onto some of the comparison sites to check out ratings, some tyres have a rim protector that comes out past the alloy rim. Regards Tom.

Welcome to the jaguar owners club. A nice car you have their, what about some Photos. Regards Tom.

It could be an EGR hose loose sometimes the jubilee clip breaks due to corrosion, or the hose might be split.
-
Hi Jim. You covered quite a bit of the country, what did you think of the New Bridge being built i think they should have made a Tunnel due to the weather conditions that they sometimes get on the Forth. Regards Tom.
-
Hi Don. Have you checked the Air Conditioner ( Compressor ) or the Alternator as i believe your one will have a Clutch Pulley and i don't know if these Alternator Pulleys can become noisey. Regards Tom.

The crankshaft pulley can disintegrate, a lot of x type owners have replaced the old pulley and tensioner with a new Kit and they fitted a Genuine jaguar kit as some owner's have had Trouble with Aftermarket Kits. The new Pulley is thicker and stronger and you need a tensioner tool when fitting the Belt. Did you get my message about this Post. Regards Tom.
