  1. Hi Brian The temp gauge usually goes to the halfway Mark, you don't say if the heater is working(ie are getting any Heat into the car). I'm sure there will be somebody more knowledgeable than myself to give some advice. Regards Tom
  2. Hi Paul Welcome to the Club, you could look at the used car sales on this Forum. Regards Tom
  3. Hi Shaun Welcome to the Club, the x type has a timing chain .Most members who have purchased a Jaguar like to change (Oil Filter and Engine Oil, Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Pollen Filter) and check Antifreeze, Brake Fluid And Change if necessary. You should only use Genuine Jaguar Oil and Fuel Filters. Regards Tom
  4. Hi Peter You may have sorted your problem, but i believe there is a Toyota wheel nut that Fits. I haven't had any problems yet but i really should look into replacing the original wheel nuts. Regards Tom
  5. Hi Michael Welcome to the Club, tell us about your x type(colour inside and out, engine 2.0 or 2.2, manuel or Auto)and any Pictures. Mine is 2.2 Auto Sovereign in Ionian Blue and Ivory Leather/Oyster 2009 model with 28,300 miles. I haven't put any photos as still trying to find how to. Regards Tom
  6. As Frank said check the Tyres , what Make of tyre , size 16,17,18 ,and the tyre pressures. Are they original tyres if so they may need changing i changed my last 2 in March as they started to get quite noisy. It would be easy to check if poly bushes are Fitted as they are hard plastic compared to rubber, I would contact the jaguar dealer that is Stamped on the Service Book and see what they say. Regards Tom
  7. Hi I don't know how you are complaining about an x type se, as they are fitted with a Touring Suspension. If you had said it was a Sport or premium Sport Suspension i would agree with you, the only thing i can think of is somebody has Fitted Poly Bushes as these will make the Suspension more Firm . Regards Tom
  8. Hi Seeing you have the Auto, i take it you will have a Diesel Particulate Filter if you have this Filter which is connected to the Exhaust. You will need to use a Low Ash C 1 Oil, I use SHELL HELIX DIESEL ULTRA AFL C1 5/30 which meets specifications Of Ford&Jaguar WSS-M2C 934-B and use a Genuine Jaguar Oil Filter. As for the Auto Gearbox changing the Fluid is not a DIY JOB, i had my Transmission Fluid changed last July at MACKIE'S AUTO TRANSMISSIONS in Glasgow after having a Jaguar meeting there in March last year. My Gearbox is a Aisin Warner make and I think it cost £153 pounds they connect a Hot Flushing Machine to Two Hose Pipes,If you have the DPF try not to do a lot of short journeys if you do they say you should take the x type on a run for 1/2 to 1 hour above 30/40 miles per hour and keep the revs about 2,500/3,000 in 4th on Manuel every 3 to 4 Weeks ,Diesels are ment to be Driven coming out of a Roundabout give it some Wellie don't always keep the REVS below 2,000. I have had my x type for 2years and 8 months and have never had the DPF FULL Warning Light come on, and i always try and Fill Up with SHELL V POWER DIESEL. And always use a Genuine Jaguar Diesel Fuel Filter. Regards Tom
  9. Hi Andy It will also clear your A/B mileage settings, check your MPG before you Disconnect on A/B and leave Battery Disconnected for 10 minutes and the next time you do a descent mileage you should get a Better MPG on A/B as the computer will have been Reset. I'm changing my Headlight Bulbs trying to match the colour of my Side lights as i have changed them ,when clipping the Cover back on use a metal coat hanger with a hook on the end or use strong string or cord for the clip next to the wing. Regards Tom
  10. Hi Paul Good to see you got the problem sorted, Regards Tom
  11. Hi Andy Good to see you got it checked,i knew mine had had a new EGR as one was fitted 6 months before i bought my x type and it turns out that this was a Service Action 131K. In 2-1/2 years I have not had any problems with the egr valve or the DPFilter which is fitted to my x type, the main thing I've been told is to give it a good run once a month and if you do a lot of short journeys give it some Revs now and again. Regards Tom
  12. Make sure the Dealer admits it was there Fault, as a member on another Forum had his repaired at a Stealership at a Cost of 400 Pounds. Regards Tom
  13. Hi Andy It's a small world,i bought my x type at a Jaguar Dealer in Farnworth Bolton. I would get the Vin Number from your Car and take it into a Jag Dealer and they'll be able to tell you if it has had a Service Action 131K, and that would give you information regarding the EGR VALVE. Regards Tom
  14. Hi Andy Welcome to the Club. You'll enjoy the x type and the 2-2 litre is a good one, you don't say what colour (inside and outside). I would ask the Dealer if a Service Action 131K (EGR VALVE REPLACEMENT) has been done as this was to Finnish at the end of August, it was for late x type's with certain Vin Numbers. Is it Manual or Auto. Regards Tom
  15. Hi pop Welcome to the Club About the DPFilter it was offered as an optional extra from 2007 onwards , but on Facelift models (2008/09) was fitted as standard on the 2-2 Automatic models only I think as I have a friend who has a 59 Reg 2-2 manuel and it doesn't have a DPFILTER. Regards Tom
  16. Hi Chris I'm led to believe this Cable was used when the car left the Factory when the car was New, to keep the Electronics from shutting down completely during transportation from the Factory and is not needed now. Regards Tom
  17. Hi Adam Welcome to the Club, give us some information on your x type, what engine, saloon/estate, colour ? . Regards Tom
  18. Hi Darren I had a 05 SE in 07 and it didn't have Sat Nav it had the 2 small screens, the one's with Sat Nav have a 7in by 5in ? Screen. If you go onto some web sites and look at the interiors and you'll see the difference . Be carefull when looking at advert's as some say it's a certain model when actually it's a model below which is advertised ( models are (S basic ) (SE ) ( Sport ) ( Sport Premium ) ( and top of the range Sovereign.) There are a lot of different variations as owners would add different Packages when New. The Sport Models have a Firmer Suspension and some have 16in,17in,18in Wheels.I have 17in wheels and Touring Suspension and the 2-2 litre engine . As for the Sat Nav the Disc' s are only up to 2012 year some members fit aftermarket with GPS. Regards Tom
  19. Hi Gary Don't know how to fix your problem , but here's a suggestion with my x type if you disconnect the Battery and keep it like that for a about 10 minutes and then reconnect. And doing this will let the Computer on the Car reset it's Self and it will probably show better MPG it's worth trying. But Remember to make sure you have the RADIO CODE as you will have to Reset the RADIO also take any other Readings from the Computer ( mileage, A/B for MPG ) it may help ?. Regards Tom
  20. Hi Sean Welcome to the Club Peter is right in what he say' s about the Battery the electrics go all to pot if it's not up to scratch. Have heard about the Drivers Lock giving some problems but have not experienced anything myself, mine is an 09 Model also and I'll be keeping an eye on the Battery as the Car sits outside during the Winter. Regards Tom
  21. Meant to say about MPG I get 37/39 local for an Auto and manuals get about 6/8 miles more per gallon. Regards Tom
  22. Well there's a lot of x type's to choose from 2-5/3-0 litre petrol all wheel drive ,2-0 2-2 litre diesel (saloon/estate) models (s )basic (se) (sport) (sport premium) (Top of the range Sovereign). I'm on my third x type (2005 2-0 litre diesel se only problem was a split turbo hose, )( 2008 basic model S 2-2 litre diesel 6 Speed Auto no problem' s, sold it as was hoping to purchase an XE Demo Car and they would be Rear Wheel Drive and being without a car for 6 weeks went and bought a x type 2-2 diesel Auto (Sovereign ) after driving ( Mondeo, Focus, BMW 118 ,A4 )decided on another x type 2009 Model. The only thing to look out for is some Models are not properly Advertised saying it's a (Sovereign model which has coloured piping on the Seats when it is actually an SE Model ) . Early models had problems with sills rusting which can easily be welded , Transfer box on all wheel drive models is a weak point I'm led to believe.I prefer the 2-2litre with the Auto Gearbox with Touring Suspension the only thing with this is it has a Diesel Particulate Filter which doesn't like a lot of short journeys, but all new Diesels have them now. If I was you I would test drive a few and check out what service has been done , I'm very satisfied with mine. Regards Tom
  23. Hi Mike Welcome to the Club, about the disc' s and brakes some owners have fitted Ford Focus ST220 Calipers and Disc's to the Front Wheels only . The problem with the Back Brakes is to do with the Hand Brake Cables and I don't think you can fit larger brakes.I may be corrected on this, as for Ford Parts fitted in the x type they say there is only 18/20 per cent of Parts fitted and Half of that was Modified by Jaguar. Regards Tom
  24. Hi Paul Good to see you have sorted out your problem and your Car looks very nice in the Photo. That wouldn't happen to be Gosford where the Photo was taken as I'm from the same County. Don't know if you've seen the Thread about the meeting on the 7th of June to Glen Turret in Crieff 54 Cars and some 87 human being' s if your interested it's on the Forum. Regards Tom
  25. Hi Craig There's plenty of x type's out there so take your time and check them out. Jim64 kindly put 3 different cars on here from auto trader well the first one is Not a Sovereign because it doesn't have the coloured piping on the seats. Some x type's were registered a different model than the Car actually was. And it depends what your looking for I've had both the 2-0 litre and the 2-2 litre I prefer the 2-2 also what kind of suspension I have the Touring Suspension and the Sport Models have the stiffer suspension and with this model go for the Premium Sport Model. I have an Auto Transmission a really like it and probably wouldn't go back to a Manuel Gearbox but then with an Auto you Pay more for Road Tax. Regards Tom
