Dream come true at last - now a Jag owner
Trooper2142 replied to Bones1958's topic in New Members Introductions
Hi Bruce Welcome to the Club hope you enjoy it here as much as you'll enjoy your x type , don't know if you are interested in a Day Out meeting other members . There's one organised for the 7th June to Glen Turret Distillery Crieff you can see the Thread on the Club Meetings. I'm in EAST LOTHIAN so we could meet up and discuss our x type's . Regards Tom -
Hi Lukasz Welcome to the Club the x type is a good car and there are a few Mods that have been done , I've just fitted a module so that the mirrors fold when Locking with Key Fob. Regards Tom
-
Hi Neil Welcome to the Club, good to see another x type coming on board. Regards Tom
-
Hi Ian I've had a 2.0 litre diesel se model with 5 Speed Manual it does not come with an Auto Gearbox, now have a 2-2 litre diesel with 6 Speed Auto Gearbox you can get 6 Speed Manual with the 2.2 Engine .I haven't used the x type for Towing but I much prefer the 2.2 with the Auto Gearbox , I have the Touring Suspension but for Towing you might prefer the Premium Sport which has a Firmer Suspension and comes with 18 in Alloy wheels where mine has 17 in Alloy Wheels . Regards Tom
-
Hi Trevor You don't say what engine you have (2.0 or 2.2 ) with the 2.0 litre you can fit a Full Blank and has a Vacuum EGR, Where as the 2.2 litre has an Electric EGR and needs a Blanking Plate with a 8 or 10 mm Hole.I haven't fitted a Blank to my x type yet as it has only done 22.750 miles. Regards Tom

Jaguar XE: prices (sort of), specs, and release date
Trooper2142 replied to Steve's topic in Jaguar XE Club
Trevor They wouldn't comment on any other Engines, as they said when asked about a Estate or Coupe anything is possible, but did say that all Petrol Engines will only have Automatic Gearboxes and Diesel Engines will have a choice of Manuel or Automatic Gearboxes Tom -
Jaguar XE: prices (sort of), specs, and release date
Trooper2142 replied to Steve's topic in Jaguar XE Club
The XE Models they had on show were ( Italian Red 3 litre engine from the F Type 0-60mph in 4.9 secs and a 2.0 litre Prestige in a metallic white and does 75 mpg ) Members down sizing from a XF will probably adapt to the XE with ease , but moving up from an X Type will be a very different story. Getting in and out of the XE seems a bit more difficult than the X Type and your shoes seem to hit the sill when getting out of the Rear door on the 3 litre model because of the width of the sill. I think it will do well if the Technology that was mentioned last night is as good as they say it is , when production starts in Jan/Feb 2015 there could be some changes compared to the Cars on show last night. The car in white was a left-hand drive model and was at the Paris Motor Show on these models the Batteries were in the Boot which could be changed or if certain models have 2 Batteries one could be next to the Engine and one in the Boot to balance things out, as for the wheels (17in on the 2.0 litre car and 20in low profile on the 3.0 litre car) must say the 20in wheels looked much better, internally everything was in Black so we'll have to wait and see the production models to see what will be on offer. Jaguar XE: prices (sort of), specs, and release date
Trooper2142 replied to Steve's topic in Jaguar XE Club
XE Event Tour Going to Gleneagles to night ( 5.30pm/8.30pm ) to see the new XE Model I believe there will be 2 Cars on show and it will be good to see them in the flesh so to speak, there's been quite a lot of negative reports on the new model by members on different Forum's. Regards Tom -
Hi Dave The Sport Models come with quilted leather seats am not sure if they have sport badge on the Boot , the Sport Premium Model are equipped much the same as a Sovereign internally but with quilted leather seats and a firmer Suspension and have 18 in Wheels. Regards Tom
-
Hi Dave I had a 2005 SE.2.0 D and the Rear Seats didn't Fold Down i now have a 2009 Sovereign and the Seat Backs Fold Down but the Cushions don't Hinge Up, there's 2 Handles in the Boot one on each side under the Parcel Shelf.I would check any cars.your going to.Test Drive and also check what Model your looking at as some were Advertised as Sovereign (Top the Range) when they were Actually SE Models and Premium Sport Models are Better equipped than the Sport.Model they also have a Sports Suspension where others have a Touring Suspension. Regards Tom

Hi Charlie You could get your Skis out and we could go up to Glencoe for a Day Out would your XK manage to get up there in the Winter. LOL Yes thinking about another Day Out some time as members on the last outing were interested in having another meeting, so this time I might ask members for some suggestions ( where they would like to go and put forward some Dates that would fit in with there other activities ) Regards Tom

Hi Jim Welcome to the club nice car and a great colour Regards Tom

Up until now nobody has mentioned that if a regeneration doesn't work , diesel can get into the engine oil there by raising the level above the maximum on the x type dipstick ( I've just realised. that the XF doesn't have a Dipstick ) but on the x type we keep the Oil Level below the maximum mark ( put 5·5litres of oil in instead of 6 litres ) Because there have been instances where the engine has revved It's head off and you can't stop it ( don't know if you can stall the engine ) We advise members to check engine oil level quite frequently and look to see if there is any diesel contamination in the Oil. ( Diesel is fed into the DPF to help with Regeneration and if it Doesn't Regen the Oil gets contaminated.) Regards Tom

Thanks Peter for your comments also, Thanks to Trevor There was a member on another Forum who wondered, if the Driver takes ILL what should their Passenger do when the Cruise Control is on. With the X Type you can just Pull on the Handbrake. Regards Tom
-
Hi Thought I would mention this about a young lady using Cruise Control in Torrential Rain when the Car Acquaplaned and took off like an Aeroplane wrapping it's Self Round a Tree , almost in the Shape of a Horseshoe. Glad to say the young Lady was not seriously injured. They say the Cruise Control shouldn't be used in Heavy Rain or in Icy Conditions. But I'm sure all you Jag Drivers would know when not to use the aforementioned . ? Regards Tom

Hi Keith On my x type the Left-hand Stalk has a Button on the End which Changes mpg , miles per tank , miles covered on A ,and B which is marked with the word TRIP Regards Tom
-
Keith. I have an x type and have Reset (service interval) myself it takes a bit of patience and it is by ignition key and indicator stalk. You can buy on EBay a reader to do it yourself but cost about £200 pounds. Here Goes 1 Insert Ignition Key into Barrel 2 Press and Hold Reset Button on Trip Computer Switch Pack 3 Turn on Ignition to Position 11 ( and upon hearing a Click ) Immediately Release the Reset Computer Button (Switch) CRITICAL to enable the RESET ( I never heard any Click just did it as quickly as possible ) 4 You are to wait one Second do as 3 above ? 5 Press and Hold the Trip Switch on Left-hand Side Stalk 6 Wait for one Second ? ( do as quickly as possible same as 4 above 7Press and Hold the Reset Button (Switch) While still Holding the Trip Switch on Left-hand Stalk 8 The Clusters should Display (with In 3 Seconds) the warning message Reset Service Mode 9 Keep Both Buttons Pressed until the Warning Message Changes to Service Mode Reset ( after Approximately Ten Seconds ? ) 10 Once the message is Displayed the Buttons may be Released and the Sequence is now Complete 11 If a Service Required message was Displayed Prior To The RESET SEQUENCE CYCLE turn ignition key to OFF and then back to Position 11 and check that the Message is no LONGER DISPLAYED. It's a bit of pain to do but it worked and was quicker than it did to type this Regards Tom

Hi Peter Thought there would have been more interest why not put it on some other Jag Forums. As I'm near Edinburgh it's a long way to travel , good luck with your meeting, I'm also thinking about organising a day out before the clocks change in October. All the best Tom

Is this a Problem Ment to say car has done 20,000 miles Regards Tom
-
Is this a Problem I have read that Tyres should be replaced after Five or Six years due to the Tyre Compound loosing it,s flexability so do you count the years from when the Tyres hit the road.Or do you loose Two Years due to Storeage my x type is five years old now, the Pirellis have a crack round the Tyre wall about 15-18 mm down from tyre tread, looking at what to replace them with. Regards Tom

Hi Richard This Fan has to do with the Electrics going into Sleep Mode when Locked. There was an article in the JEC.Org Magazine about this and also had a Picture of the Tissue held against the small slotted grill. Have tried with the Tissue on my own 2009 x type but the paper keeps falling off, do not know if this Fan has been done away with now.
-
Re Buzzing Noise There is a small slotted grill behind the indicator stalk on the Facia which has a Fan behind it. I am lead to believe this stops after so long when the car is locked, and can be checked by placing a small piece of tissue paper over it which should be held in place by the Fan and when it switches off the tissue should fall to the floor, when the car is locked hope this helps Regards Tom

Hi All I have been looking at web sites for prices on tyres and have liked the Goodyear F1 Asametric as they get a B rating for economy and on wet roads also 68/69 for noise, But was surprised that Tyres bought on the Web could be 2Years Old and they seem to think this is acceptable is this because you get a lower Price. Regards Tom
