  1. When i bought my XF ,the Ford Garage replaced the Front Discs and Pads and they fitted a New Higher Rated Battery to get the Stop/Start to work, so i was very happy with them. I would keep pushing them about the Brake Discs.
  2. Pictures 1,2,3,5, are normal i would say, i've applied Black Hamerite paint where i can. Your brake disc doesn't look that good and i would check the thickness off the Disc if you can, because the photo seems to show quite a lip along the outer edge that's only my opinion.
  3. I would be chasing them about the brake discs as it could be a Mot failure. I believe that the Subframes are made of Steel and will show signs off rust, and there are other area's that have steel and you could check it out with a magnet in a poly bag so as not scratch the paintwork. Regards Tom.
  4. Welcome to the Club David. You'll certainly find that the XF has more space behind the Front seats and in the Boot, I've had 3 X Type's which didn't give me any problems. But i'm really smitten with the XF Portfolio, and i think that you've made the right choice and hope you enjoy your XF. Regards Tom.
  5. The charger positive cable (Red ) onto the positive ( + ) on the Battery and the negative cable ( Black ) from the Charger onto the side off the wheel well, that's how i've got the Ctek comfort panel cable's connected which is fitted to the side wall off the boot.
  6. Good morning. There is a site called Topix and if you enter your Vin Number you can get the details off your car, i think that there has been some changes on the Topix site but i'm not sure what they are. Regards Tom.
  7. Good morning Marcus and welcome to the Club You should get it checked out if you have a warranty, you'll be told that there are a few different things that may cause the Start/Stop not to work. Like the weather maybe too hot or too cold or the engine needs to get up to temperature, but the most common fault is the Battery which has to be 85% charged or above i think. When i bought my XF the Start/Stop didn't work and the garage had the car over night to charge the Battery and they finnished up fitting a New Battery with a Higher Rating. And that cured the problem and the Start/Stop would start working with in a few minutes off leaving the house, but lately with these colder morning's it's taking a little longer to work. These cars need a very good battery because off all the electronics, some member's myself included connect a Ctek maintenance charger if the car is not being used regularly. Regards Tom.
  8. I've got 2 off these Barbados Alloys, one has a tyre fitted and they don't have any kerb marks. Regards Tom.
  9. I don't have a problem yet but with you bringing it to our attention, i'll keep checking the oil level and intend to Change the engine oil and filter every year instead off 2year's. Regards Tom.
  10. Thanks for your reply Ian. i have heard that some off the early ingenium engines did have some problems, but why would they fit the timing chains at the Rear off the engine. Regards Tom.
  11. Hello Ian What engine do you have as i believe some engine's have to be removed from the Car to get to the timing chain, and i believe some bmw model's also have to have the engine removed to get to the timing chain. Good to hear that you have your problem solved. Regards Tom.
  12. Charged the Battery with the Ctek mxs7 yesterday and it took 3 hours from the red light till the green light was showing on the charger. I know that some members leave the Ctek connected when there car is not being used, but i can't do that because the XF sits on the road.
  13. Well done your making good progress, just take your time and check when your dismantling the old door and it'll be a reverse procedure when fitting the replaced door. Regards Tom.
  14. An alternative would be a bed off nails lying on the driver's seat or a boxing glove that hits you when the door is opened.Lol
  15. I've fitted a Ctek comfort panel to a plastic insert next to the shopping hook in the boot , and i leave the Ctek mxs 7 in the boot and use a thin extension cable and just shut the boot lid. I've never heard off that one before Joe, driving away with the charger still connected and the blue tack is a good pointer. Regards Tom.
  16. All the sportbrake models have the electric boot opening i believe, probably because of the weight. With the X260 2015/2020 XF saloon it can be ordered from new with an electric boot opening, and i don't know if it could be fitted as an extra by an owner but most i think are the type with the Springs only. Regards Tom.Regards
  17. On my XF the boot lid can be made to open by itself, there are 2 Springs one on each side and they are behind the side walls off the boot. The Spring comes from the curved arm and are attached to a Bracket towards the rear lights, and i've used a strong cord to adjust the Springs, you can pull the end off the Spring out of it's present position and hook it into another position nearer to the rear lights. I've tried the boot lid adjusted with 2 Springs but i found it lifted the boot lid too quickly, so i've reverted to just using one Spring. And it opens with the key fob and the switch below the steering wheel, but be careful when driving because it you hit the switch the boot lid could fly open Regards Tom.
  18. I've also heard that when topping up with AdBlue it can get an Airlock in the system and it's advised to leave the Filler Cap off or loose for a while, probably overnight. And if it's overfilled it can also cause a problem, average use is about 1 litre of AdBlue to about 500 miles, and the Container holds 17 litres. In a year of owning my XF i've never had a problem with the Ad Blue and haven't topped up yet, but when i bought the car from a Ford Garage, they had actually bought 16 litres of AdBlue from the jaguar dealer and filled the 17 litre Container and when they did this it brought up an orange triangle warning. So they arranged for me to take it to the Jaguar Dealer that sold and serviced the XF, and they had to drain the system and refill with New Ad Blue to Clear the warning message which cost £ 160 pounds and the Ford Garage payed for it to be done. Regards Tom.
  19. I've just had one from x-line. Where's the Administrators when you need them.
  20. I would go for a 2:2 with a manual 6 speed gearbox, as the auto gearbox has the DPF. The 2:0 litre only has a 5 speed gearbox. You will need to check the sills behind the plastic cover sills that are below the doors as they can be a mot failure. I think a lot of the problems with the DPF was due to the wrong engine oil having been used ( the oil should be a Low Ash C1 WSS M2C 934B for an X Type with a DPF) and the DPF is fitted to faraway from the Engine. As the XE and X260 XF have the DPF fitted right next to the Engine, and have very few problems . Regards Tom.
  21. Welcome to the Club Do a search on eBay there's plenty to choose from. Regards Tom.
  22. Welcome to the Club. Your engine will be a 2:2 litre as the 2:0litre didn't come out till 2015. About your low battery warning, there are a lot of comments about this and with all off the technology in modern cars we need a battery in good condition. Some members including myself have bought a Ctek charger/conditioner and fitted permanent cables to the Battery and they have a Plug which you connect the charger too. Regards Tom.
  23. Welcome to the Club Robert. You should give us more details on your XF, ( ie colour interior and exterior, engine size ) Regards Tom.
  24. I believe that the in control touch 8 inch screen with the buttons down each side cannot not updated, it has to be the in control touch Pro 10 inch screen that can be updated. And the price they're asking is ridiculous, some owner's have bought Garmin and they're updated for free. Jaguar couldn't care less about there Customer's they've abandoned Customer's for year's,the last updated discs for X Type's and the first XF s finished in 2012. Regards Tom.
  25. Welcome to the Jaguar owner's club. The garage will probably charge your Battery over night to check if that's what's wrong with the Battery, that's what the Ford Garage did with mine because the Stop/Start didn't work.Charging over night didn't work so they fitted a New Battery which is Higher Rated and everything is working as it should. Regards Tom.
