  1. Welcome to the Club Steve You can top up the DEF yourself, and it can be bought from most outlets but you have to make sure it has the part number that jaguar recommend. The Handbook tells the average mileage per litre of DEF and a warning light should appear when fluid needs to be added, and there's also a warning that you should not Over fill the DEFluid Tank as a warning message would come up on the Dash and that means the system needs to be Drained and Refilled with New DEFluid and it could cost about £160 pounds to rectify the problem. Don't ignore a warning about Low level off DEFluid as the Engine won't start if you run out off DEFluid. I'm sure that my XF has a 17 litre Tank so if it needed 16 litres I would only add 14 or 15 litres. Regards Tom.
  2. Welcome to the Club. I changed the auto gearbox fluid in my last X Type when it was 5 years old in 2014 at Mackies Auto Transmissions in Glasgow as they are a ZF authorised garage. And never had any problems with it, a Hot Flushing Machine was used to change the fluid. The auto gearbox in the X Type is a Aisin Warner and it's just a Fluid Change as the Filter can only be changed if the gearbox is dismantled for repair. And I believe that the ZF gearbox has the Filter changed along with a New Sump. The consensus these day's is that it's not recommended to use a Hot Flushing Machine as Sediment lying in the bottom off the gearbox could cause problems . Regards Tom.
  3. I could do that Jim, but then i would need to leave a message in the Handbook saying why the S/S isn't working, just in case i pop my clogs.lol
  4. My S/S didn't work when i bought my XF and the garage charged the Battery over night and the S/S still didn't work and they fitted a New Battery with a Higher Rating 95AH - 850A compared to the Jaguar battery rating off 80AH - 800A. And it works perfectly when I forget to switch it off.
  5. Good morning welcome to the Club. If you enter your Vin Number into the Topix site and you'll get a summary of what's on your vehicle. Regards Tom.
  6. Thanks George for the jag website. I'm on my fourth jaguar, 3 X Type's and now have a XF 2:0 litre Portfolio. I've used the same local garage for over 24 years, and i buy the engine oil and oil filter, diesel ,air and Cabin filters and the garage does the service while i wait. The car has just had it's second 2 yearly service, and the first service was carried out by the jaguar dealer that sold the car and the air filter had been in the car from the day it was Built as it had the date stamped on the filter and that's 4 years and they had actually changed the cabin filter as they had written the date on it, and they don't seem to apply some ceramic grease to the slider pins on the brake calipers. I'll probably do the intermediate service myself as I have a 12 Volt pump and the oil filter is in a good position with it fitted at top off the engine. Thanks again for the information that you've supplied.
  7. Extreme Auto Accessories, Eniskillen. are on the web that can supply various touchup paint.
  8. Welcome to the Club Stevie. Yes there's something addictive about owning and driving a Jaguar. I can't help you with the camera, but i had the garage i bought mine from fit a New Battery because the Stop/Start wasn't working and it's now working all the time. Regards Tom.
  9. It could have fallen off, sorry I don't know the name off the part or part number.
  10. When i bought my XF from a Ford Garage i had a message similar and they had booked the car into the local jaguar dealer who actually sold and gave it it's first service. So it went in and there was also a Recall H149 to be done , then i get a phone call telling me that to sort the AdBlue message that they would have to Drain the Tank and then refill the Tank with New AdBlue this had to be done to remove the message from the Dash and they wanted me to Pay £160 pounds for this to be done, so told them to contact the Ford Garage and they paid the cost. And it turned out that the Ford Garage had bought 4 Containers of AdBlue from the jaguar dealer which would have been 16 or 20 litres and they had topped up the 17 litre AdBlue Tank, and it looks like that they had over filled the Tank because the Handbook Warns about over filling. And everything is fine and working great, you can go into settings for the AdBlue telling how much has been used. Regards Tom.
  11. What we haven't mentioned and this was brought to my attention by Jimbov8, is that the Red Cable is fitted to the Red /+ post on the Battery and the Black Cable is fitted to the Chassis or metal stud in the Wheel Well and Not onto the Black/-- post on the Battery as per Ctek Instructions. Regards Tom.
  12. I bought a Ctek mxs7 with a Comfort Indicator Panel i fitted it onto the driver's side off the boot and is permanently connected to the Battery and the charger cable is just plugged into the panel. I find the Ctek very good and the one i have has different modes, and for the AGM battery I just switch to that mode. Regards Tom.
  13. Nice looking XF, Michael. There's certainly something different when driving a Jaguar, hope you have many years enjoying your car. Remember diesels don't like short journeys if you do take it for a good run every 2 or 3 weeks so that you don't get problems with the Diesel Particle Filter. And thanks for the photo's. Regards Tom.
  14. Welcome to the Club Thomas. You should check all door locks, windows, folding mirrors, leather seats . And check if it drives alright in a straight line, and the steering wheel doesn't judder when applying the brakes. Regards Tom.
  15. Welcome to the Club Michael. Enjoy your XF, and give us some more details. Regards Tom.
