  1. OK.. we are now listed at the VisitBrighton Tourism website as an official event! Please see http://www.visitbrighton.com/whats-on/jaguarforums-com-annual-brighton-convoy-and-meet-p1224621 Next on the list is the East Sussex County Council Tourism website :-)
  2. I am pleased to say that across the three forums carrying this thread currently we have now had over 10,000 hits! Which is an incredible degree of interest for which I can only thank you guys. We have some months to go, and as the weeks clock by I am hoping to get everything pulled together, and for more people to sign up to attend making it our biggest and best Brighton Convoy & Meet to-date. For it to become the 'Showstopper' that puts our event firmly and permanently in the Brighton Car Event Calendar. I am hoping for some news on the accommodation front this week, along with hopefully good news about our VisitBrighton entry, and the latest sponsorship info for you.. so please keep an eye on this space, and if you are wondering whether to sign up or not, just sign up, please - there is absolutely no cost to this event apart for the parking and fixed price breakfast costs on the day (and I will advise you of exactly what those costs are nearer the time as I don't want anyone not knowing what they need to budget for the day). If you want to sign up you can sign up on any of the forum threads, or by tweeting me at @JFBrightonMeets popping a note on our facebook page www.facebook.com/JaguarForumsUK, or emailing me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk - it costs nothing, and guarantees you, your family, and your Jag a fantastic day out! Equally please follow our Twitter feed as we go @JFBrightonMeets #MayJagMeet, friend our Facebook page www.facebook.com/JaguarForumsUK, or even better sign up to the forum carrying this thread and keep up with things that way.. Many thanks to everyone for their support to-date for what is OUR great Jaguar event!
  3. A mini update - Furniture Clinic who supply everything you could possibly need to maintain, or repair your Jaguars leather interior have agreed to become event sponsors.. Many, many thanks to them for their support of our event. More details to follow shortly :-)
  4. Don't forget the one touch electric windows will need resetting too.. I always forget that until I am trying to get into a multistorey car park, driving in and trying to close my window at the same time :-)
  5. OK, it's the end of the week - time to sumarise: We currently have: Nineteen vehicles and thirty people signed up so far For the first time ever we have an official event support vehicle We have an official event photographer with fantastic credentials Seven main sponsors supporting us plus an advertising sponsor (many many thanks to them for their continued & ongoing support) Two sponsors will be attending, and onsite for all your questions Three companies (inc. ITV Meridian) have agreed to list the event as an official event in their calendars Our VisitBrighton tourist website entry is queued ready for January A range of sponsorship enquiries still on the go Two potential sponsors being followed up on currently.. Our facebook page www.facebook.com/JaguarForumsUK is starting to gain some friends, and has a huge selection of photos there from our previous events. Our Twitter feed @JFBrightonMeets #MayJagMeet now has 40 followers, and is doing well. The forum threads for our event have so far amassed almost 9,000 hits! We are well on track for the largest Brighton Convoy & Meet to-date! Many, many thanks to our sponsors, and people who have signed up to attend this event! Over the next week I will be also chasing the VisitBrighton website to see if we can get our entry up sooner rather than later, and trying to progress a deal for discounted accomodation for anyone wanting to make a weekend of the event. Anyone interested in getting involved with this event as a possible sponsor please drop me an email at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk, or tweet me @JFBrightonMeets, or just pop a post up here Finally, and most importantly anyone interested in attending this event please, please sign yourselves up for what will be a fantastic day out for you, your family, and your Jaguar! We have a great day planned - samples, discounts and info in your Welcome Packs on the day, prize draw for some great 'must-have' Jaguar items, and so much more to come ... so go on, sign up to this - the FREE Jaguar only event 'The Annual Brighton Convoy & Meet'
  6. You are very welcome to sign up, and come along. Will it be just yourself travelling to the event? I ask because there will be a fixed price breakfast as part of the event and numbers are important for that :-) I will add you to both the convoy and the main meet - please let me know about numbers and if it is both parts you wish to attend.
  7. Just a brief update for you: This event will be taking place on 29th May 2016 - most likely to be on the Brighton seafront as usual. It is a Jaguar only event, and I am working on gaining much more industry support than previously, trying to get close to matching Jims last organised event :-), and ensuring that everyone has a fantastic day to remember. There will be a convoy on the morning from Pease Pottage Services to the seafront, with us all setting up camp in one huge parking block prior to a fantastic breakfast with a sea view, and the main meet with as much going on as I can pull together for us including a free raffle for a number of must-have goodies, industry reps (see Industry Attendees list below to see who will have reps onsite) for you to quiz with problems, discounts etc etc. Plus the usual Welcome Packs on the day with free samples, info etc etc. This thread will only be updated every now and again with the progress of things until closer to the date, so you can dip in and check on things if you want, but it doesn't pop up every time you logon. If you would like to sign up for this event please just pop a post on the thread inc how many will likely be coming, and car details, and I will add you in, noting you can join just the main event, or the event and convoy. If you prefer, you are also very welcome to drop a line to JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk :-) Convoy from Pease Pottage Services: SteveSheldon 1998 XJ8 3.2 Andrew Lowe 1998 XJR Ngarara 2010 XKR 75 HarleyJagMan 1994 XJS Convertible Brian R 2011 XFR Ron The Guardian 2009 X-Type Estate Andrew65 2007 2.2 X-Type Estate Clifton94 2007 XJR Portfolio Ian D 2006 XK Coupe NeilJ 2000 S-Type PabloJag1 XKR Phill (Reverend) 2002 S-Type Brent 2003 S-Type David Beasley 2011 XF 3.0 Tonyxtype S-Type 2.7 SED Andy Ross 2004 S-Type 2.7 SE DwainLondon 2011 XJ Portfolio Dre 2000 S-Type Total 18 cars Main Meet Event on Brighton Seafront: SteveSheldon 1998 XJ8 3.2 +1 (JaguarForums.com) Andrew Lowe 1998 XJR +1 (JaguarForums.com) Ngarara 2010 XKR 75 +1 (JaguarForums.com) HarleyJagMan 1994 XJS convertible +2 (JaguarForums.com) Brian R 2011 XFR + 1 (JaguarForum.com) Ron The Guardian 2009 X-Type Estate + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Andrew65 2007 2.2 X-Type Estate + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Clifton94 2007 XJR Portfolio + 1 (JaguarForum.com) Ian D 2006 XK Coupe + 1 (JaguarForum.com) NeilJ 2000 S-Type + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) PabloJag1 2001 XKR + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Elvis (Smile57) 2007 S-Type + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Phill (Reverend) 2002 S-Type + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Brent 2003 S-Type + 2 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) David Beasley 2011 XF 3.0 Premium Luxury + 1 (via email) Tonyxtype S-Type 2.7 SED + 5 (via email) Andy Ross 2004 S-Type 2.7 SE + 2 (JaguarForum.com) DwainLondon 2011 XJ Portfolio + 2 (JaguarForum.com) Dre 2000 S-Type + 1 (JaguarOwnersClub.com) Total 19 cars - 30 attendees Official Event Support Vehicle: Rowan Lill Official Event Photographer: Stephen Cox from CarSnapped (@CarSnapped) Event Sponsors: Harwoods Jaguar - Harwoods Jaguar Brighton SNG Barratt - SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist WaxOnWaxOff - www.wo-wo.co.uk Autoglym - Pas5i0n for Perfection Haynes Manuals - See Haynes, See How Scratch Shield - The bucket filter system Ultimo GT Lubricants - High Performance Engine Oil Industry Attendees: Harwoods Jaguar - Harwoods Jaguar Brighton Ultimo GT Lubricants - High Performance Engine Oil Event Advertisers: Carphile.co.uk - Celebrating classic and interesting cars note updates will also appear on Twitter - why not follow the meet @JFBrightonMeets #MayJagMeet or like us and follow us at our NEW Facebook events page www.facebook.com/JaguarForumsUK and to see previous events for a taste of things please have a look at: UK South East Meet Spring/Summer 2015 in Brighton UK South East Meet December 2014 in Brighton
  8. LOL - weird but true! Without that first XJ8 that overheated we would never have become Jaguar fans, or to be honest even considered that a Jag could be within reach financially.. In fact buying it was a complete gamble - but as soon as we got in it it was soooo gorgeous we were hooked :-) I remember it was approx £500, and we found a whole stackload of issues with it over the next few months, but despite that it had character - something missing in all the Vectras, Omegas, Focuses we had had to-date lol Unfortunately it burst a water pipe and overheated, but we had already been bitten by the bug :-) My wife is an accountant, and she was the one who pushed for us to replace the XJ8 with another one (in better condition but same year) because the prices have bottomed out, unlike some of the new style XJ's that as she pointed out are losing almost as much in value per year as our XJ8 cost to buy!
  9. Ok Mini update for you Tom Savvides at ITV Meridian is adding our event to their event diary The Twitter Car Blogger @caraddictblog is going hopefully be working with us in promoting our event I am close to an agreement (hopefully :-)) with a company specialising in leather cleaning and restoration. Out Twitter feed is starting to gain more followers, and even our Facebook site has gained another friend today.. If you haven't signed up yet for our event - please do! We have a fantastic day ahead of us for us, our families and cars.. I will update you as things continue to develop :-) Don't forget we are also at: JFBrightonMeets #MayJagMeet www.facebook.com/JaguarForumsUK Why not follow us there too...
  10. I am sorry to hear you have had so many problems with your XJ8 :-( but once you manage to get on top of those initial issues you should have a fantastic car - just watch out for the tensioners, water pump etc that can go on these OK? My first XJ8 came from a place I would never normally go to, was 'sold as seen' and overheated fatally four months later.. but that car is what converted my family to Jaguar and we currently have another XJ8 (same year), and an X-Type! I have yet to find another car that I love the look of so much, has the capacity to take my wife, my 2 children and me on holiday with three normal size suitcases, plenty of legroom for the children, that runs quietly (understated), is super smooth on the motorway and cost less to buy than you would ever expect. Every problem is worth it to me for the feeling of chilled out relaxation the moment I sit in the drivers seat.. All the best Steve And for that I forgive the dodgy geezer that sold me my first Jag :-)
