  1. This thread has had almost 10,000 hits across the master thread and the forums that host copies of it! That is incredible... we have over 60 people signed up so far, over 40 vehicles from a Mk2 through to an XE... If you have not signed up yet, you risk missing a fantastic free day out Jaguar style! So go on give it a go.... 60 people, and 10,000 hits has to be saying something :-) Pop a post on here or just email me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk and join in this great event.
  2. OK... a little bit of an update for you... I have still heard nothing back from the local papers regarding covering our convoy and meet, so I have widened my net and am trying to get coverage in the local independant newspapers for us - as always if I hear anything I will let you know.
  3. The next Bi-Annual Brighton Convoy & Meet will be happening on 24th May 2015 - Just over 8 weeks away now! This meet will be our fourth one, and we will have been running this event for two years now! This Spring/Summer event is Jaguar exclusive, but if you have a car of another marque don't worry - the Winter event will again be open to all marques with a warm Jaguar welcome for everyone. For those who don't know, the event comprises of two components - an initial meet at Pease Pottage Services with Welcome packs and goodie bags handed out, and a convoy at a steady 65mph down to the main meet and event in Madiera Drive, Brighton. The distance is approx 24 miles on major roads which should ensure all attendees can manage it without issue. At the main meet in Brighton we have fixed price breakfasts, photo shoots, socialising, industry attendees there to answer all those questions you have never managed to get answered, a FREE prize draw for some SNG Barrett goodies, and more - and all with the backdrop of the Victorian promenades, and everything a family could possibly want on a day out with the Pier, the beaches, the sea gently rolling in, the Proms, and a huge local shopping centre. This year we are sandwiched in the middle of a month of MG, Mini, and Classic Car Meet days so I am sure our meet will raise a lot of interest... esp with one or two brand new showroom XE's there, literally *just* delivered to Harwoods Brighton, hopefully in attendance on the day!! We are already listed as an official event with Brighton & Hove, & East Sussex Councils - and I am working on trying to get further advertising and newspaper coverage in place if I can,, If you would like to attend this convoy and meet ( a guaranteed great day out for you, your family and your car) please put your name forward and I will be happy to add you in. You can put a post up on this thread if you wish to attend, or you can email me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk - either way I will happily add you in.. as usual I need to know if you wish to attend just the main meet, or the meet and the convoy, your car and year, and how many people will likely be travelling in the car.. The itinerary, parking, & fixed price breakfast costs will all be listed in the next few weeks, so there are no surprises for those of us on a budget - but the event itself as such is FREE and will remain so. 4. OK a little more news - or not depending on how you think of it :-) Because the convoy component starts at Pease Pottage Services I have popped some small lineage adverts up in the local press in Crawley/East Grinstead areas to see if we can flush out some Jaguar owners, maybe with some of the older examples from between 1968 and 1998 that might want to come along. I should know the final details about the sequence and timing of events of the day, next week, so the itinerary should be appearing on the thread towards the end of next week - so keep an eye out for it. Additionally, I am waiting on a callback from the Brighton & Hove Highway Events Team, just to double check that nothing has changed regarding Madiera Drive being available on the day.. as I need to be 100% surer than sure before we all head down there... better to double check than not :-) and it had better not - because I have already started putting the Welcome Packs into print for us :-) As always I will let you know as things develop regarding our convoy and meet through this thread... Meanwhile if you are reading through this and have not signed yourself up for what is going to be, as always, a bigger day than I planned - why not? There is so much already going on with free goodies and welcome packs, a free prize draw, seeing the new XE models in the flesh and able to be amongst the first to book a test drive in one, a cheaper than last year big breakfast, photo shoots, car comparing and viewing, hints and tips swapping, car specialists on hand to answer your questions, socialising with all the people you already know from online, PLUS everything you get at the seaside!! It's a great family day out for everyone from our kids through to the diehard petrolheads amongst us :-) It costs nothing to sign up, nothing to attend, and you get to have a great day out, get freebies, discounts etc., a free prize draw, photo shoots due to go up on the forums, the only costs being parking and breakfast & those costs will be as low as i can get them and clearly listed so you can budget for the day.. so go on.. why not sign up? Just post on here or email me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk
  5. Ok time for a summary for those of you who have lost track of things, or are wondering if you should come along (and you really should or you will miss a GREAT day out) We currently have: 43 vehicles & 66 attendees coming along with Jaguar production covered from 1968 through to 2014, with brand new showroom 2015 XE's due to join us on the day with test drive bookings being taken! Free Welcome Packs with a select range of info and goodies for you from multiple sponsors - guaranteed goodies of interest. PLUS a FREE prize draw on the day for some great SNG Barrett goodies! A fixed price breakfast for less than a fiver (cheaper than last year!) Car specialist attendees there to answer your technical queries - one guaranteed and currently working on two others. A chance to socialise with the people you know so well on the forums. Exchange problems & fixes.. solving that car issue you can't quite figure out. Get to see a huge range of Jaguars with the backdrop of the victorian promenades on the Brighton seafront. This event is suitable for abolutely everyone - I will be bringing my family along this year as Brighton Pier is just metres from our meet location, the arcades, The Lanes, and even the main shopping centre, making it great for everyone from diehard petrolheads right through to my nine year old son and younger. Sooo much going on - why do anything else? The event is FREE to everyone - the only costs being the fixed price breakfast and the parking - even those costs will be listed when the itinerary goes online so those of us on a budget know exactly what we need to pay out on the day, no surprises! There is nothing hidden with this event - especially not the fact that is will be a great day out!! For any of you thinking 'OK a great day out, but what will I get to see on the day?' here are the figures of who/what is coming here so far - we have a huge range of models and years coming: Mk 2 (1) 1968 S-Type (4) 2000-2004 S-Type R (6) 2002-2007 X-Type (11) 2002-2009 XF (4) 2010-2014 XFR (1) ?? XJ (1) 2014 XJR (4) 1998-2007 XJS (1) 1984 XK (2) 2004-2010 XKR (6) 1998-2014 XK8 (2) 2002-2005 Please note maths is not known as my strong point :-) , any more than car mechanics (groan), but if you don't come along you will miss seeing a huge chunk of Jaguar history and seeing all equipment levels, and models you could go for as maybe your next Jaguar or even your second Jaguar :-) This list is huge, and doesn't include the brand new showroom XE(s) that will be attending from Harwoods Jaguar!!
  6. Another quick update - I have spoken again to another potential industry speaker/attendee & I believe they will be coming along on the day - they specialise in paintwork and bodywork maintenance and repair.. I need to give them another call on Tuesday to confirm they are definately able to attend, but it is looking good...

  13. Ok time for a summary for those of you who have lost track of things, or are wondering if you should come along (and you really should or you will miss a GREAT day out) We currently have: 40 vehicles & 61 attendees coming along with Jaguar production covered from 1968 through to 2014, with brand new showroom 2015 XE's due to join us on the day with test drive bookings being taken! Free Welcome Packs with a select range of info and goodies for you from multiple sponsors - guaranteed goodies of interest.
  14. The next Bi-Annual Brighton Convoy & Meet will be happening on 24th May 2015 - Just 10 weeks away now! At the main meet in Brighton we have fixed price breakfasts, photo shoots, socialising, industry attendees there to answer all those questions you have never managed to get answered, and more - and all with the backdrop of the Victorian promenades, and everything a family could possibly want on a day out with the Pier, the beaches, the sea gently rolling in, the Proms, and a huge local shopping centre. 15. No problems Ron. Anything I can do to help please just ask. If the dealer is part of the Harwoods Group I cand likely assist putting you in touch with the right people there - if that is any help. Equally the same as you I am happy to get involved in organising a meet anywhere in the UK if it helps at all. Just for everyones info I am currently working on the Welcome Pack, and Itinerary for the Brighton Convoy & Meet.. I can't finalise everything until I have more info on the specialists who will be available at the meet for you, but as soon as I have that info I'll be posting the final itinerary on here for you.
  16. Just starting work on the itinerary - looking at a likely start time of 8:15 at Pease Pottage Services, 9:00 breakfast in Brighton, followed by photo shoots, test drive bookings, viewings etc.. as soon as I have it a little more organised I will post it up here on the thread.. Additionally we are looking at the breakfasts being £4.99 and the parking charges are as follows: £3 for 1 hour, £5 for 2 hours, £10 for 4 hours (this is likely time length for most people just attending the event), and £15 for 11 hours. The parking for the spring/summer meet is always higher than the winter meet rates :-( In a week I should also have finalised which specialist companies will be in attendance for your questions etc.. Meanwhile I am also looking to organise a similar bi-annual event for the Midlands or Scotland - please pm me for more details :-) (yes I know - mug written across my forehead :-) but it would be great if everyone everywhere could get to one of these meets) so if you are intersted just drop me a line... or have a look here: http://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/midlands-scotland-bi-annual-convoy-meet-138592/

  19. Things are on the up - we now have two 'unlisted' sponsors who are happy to assist us with our Welcome Packs and enclosed goodies, so I'm glad to be able to report that our Welcome Packs should be up to a similar standard as the winter meet ones with discount codes, goodies, meet information etc...
  20. OK, I have said I will do this for over a year - and I haven't - & yes I know it's unlikely we will get a positive response, very unlikely lol... *but* I am hassling the Top Gear editor to see if we can get any coverage or maybe someone come down on the day.. I will let you know what the outcome is even though I suspect I already know the answer :-) But if I don't ask...... :-)
  21. Just a brief update: I am still chasing for newspaper coverage - trying some different potential contacts (and hoping) I will know more about further specialist services attending the meet to answer your questions etc on the 20th of this month I have confirmed with our unlisted welcome pack supporter that we should have some discounts and product samples you will love. Meanwhile I am also still tracking down any other external advertising I can get for us, whether it be for people attending, or visiting our event.. Anyone undecided about whether to come along... why not put yourself forward for this great event and what is guaranteed to be a good day for everyone from families through to confirmed petrolheads :-)
  22. Hi Ron, Many thanks for that I'll add the model details in on the next update :-)

  24. Hi Ron, Vey happy to add you, and your family to the list of attendees for this event. What model of X-Type do you have? All the best Steve
  25. Hi Reverand, At the last Brighton meet we had 40-50 cars parked there quite comfortably on the left hand side of the car park as you enter the services - then we are just there long enough for distributing the welcome packs, goodies and a brief on what we have to come on the day.... So far, this meet we have 30-40 vehicles so definately should fit without any problems... The itinerary should be fixed in the next week or so but I am anticipating the initial meet starting at about 8:15-8:30 Any further queries just pop a post on here or email me at stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk .. Best regards Steve
