  1. Just a quick update on things - the Welcome pack contents/bags etc should be with me from the three suppliers in the next couple of weeks.. all is confirmed with our new sponsors for approx 40 or so packs. I have been in contact with the Madeira Cafe and double checked the booking we have with them - and found they have a maximum capacity of 40 or thereabouts so am mulling over some potential venues for eating at the May meet that can cater for more of us. All I need to do is double check Tony is still available, and hopefully the showroom car he wants to bring along.
  2. I know winter is usually a dark grey sort of time of year with plenty of rain, wind, and bad weather leaving us little choice but to hunker down in front of a TV watching archived film clips of our favourite cars on TopGear.. In south-east UK we don't do this - we organise our bi-annual Brighton social run & meet! This years winter meet is happening on Sunday 7th December - with social run down from Pease Pottage Services to Madiera Drive, Brighton, everyone parking up in one huge block of cars (parking £1 per hour, £4 for the morning, or £7 for the day), followed by a fixed price big breakfast (£5.00 per person inc tea/coffee) to set us up for the morning. I am in the process of organising what I can and meanwhile a full itinery has been listed above including all and any exact costs there are.. so you know everything you need to know before the event. It's a great chance for you to have a break from the Christmas rush and shopping and to have some time with great company, fantastic cars, a mug of tea and something to eat.. Please note that with this being the Winter meet it is open to other marques - with a warm Jaguar welcome for everyone. In case you are wondering - this will be the third Bi-Annual Brighton meet and the details of the last one can be found here: UK South East Meet Spring/Summer 2014 in Brighton if you want to check it out..Just so you know who has indicated an interest (in no particular order) in attending on the day, so far it looks like this.... If you would like to be added please just make a post saying so (or if non member email me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk to be added) and I will be very happy to add you to the list. 3. OK - some additional good news for us - we (subject to the usual) have gained sponsors for the Welcome Packs for the event so you are guaranteed that the Welcome Packs should be more substantial than in our previous meets, and I hope should continue to do do so in the years to come. Current Welcome Pack Sponsors are: Car-Chem - CarChem - Car Care Products | Detailing Products MotorGeek - Motorgeek , Car Washing, Cleaning, Polishing and Detailing Products Harwoods Jaguar - Harwoods Jaguar Brighton Many thanks to these companies for their support - I believe you will find the contents of the Welcome Packs this meet of much more interest and use now :-)

  5. We are now looking at a convoy of 30 Cars, and a meet of 33 cars... we are already looking at a fair sized meet and making quite an impact when we all arrive in Brighton :-) Any one else wanting to join this event please just put your name forward for what is due to be a fantastic Jaguar day out.. technically a day out by the seaside for us albeit in the Winter :-) It's just that instead of ice creams melting in the sun we have a big breakfast and mugs of tea/coffee :-)

  7. Ok Guys, this thread is quite long with all the info spread through it so here's a quick summary and why it's well worth signing up to... It's happening on the 7th December, and is advertised with the VisitBrighton tourism website and hopefully with Jaguar World Monthly and the Brighton Argus. This event is on it's third incarnation and planning is already underway for the next meet which will be in May 2015 :-) Currently for this meet, we have Harwoods Jaguar and The Automatic Gearbox Centre coming along to answer all your questions and queries about your cars transmission, new models that are coming, servicing etc etc.. plus the owner of 'The Jag Gallery' who owns an E-type is opening his gallery for us to have a look around if we would like to. The Madiera Cafe has agreed to provide a fixed price breakfast and tea/coffee at £5 for us, and because this is the winter meet the parking costs are just £1 an hour. There will be a convoy down from Pease Pottage Service Station to the seafront which will make quite a visual impact and great start to the meet.. Currently we have Jaguars ranging from a 1968 Mk2 right through to a 2014 F-Type V6s Coupe coming along, plus with this being the Winter meet we are also welcoming a TVR Tuscan and Ford Cougar V6 along. This is a fantastic opportunity to put names to faces and cars, to clean and polish and show off your own car, and check out everyone else's cars :-) You can pose your transmission questions to Kevin over a big breakfast, and quiz Tony on when the new models are due out. You get to be in a big convoy travelling down the A23, and to be in a huge block of cars on the seafront, chatting with like minded people and hearing those details about the cars, the simple fixes and so on that you have often wondered about :-) It's going to be a good day, a chance to relax away from the Christmas rush! I am also currently working on the welcome packs, and am hoping to be able to make them more substantial than the packs at the last meet.. sooo come on why not not put your name forward for what promises to be a great day out for you and your car? You can post on here, or if not a member you can email me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk - I look forward to hearing from you and adding you into this great day...
  8. For anyone considering coming along - but unsure of the distances etc. here are the details of the convoy start location, and the meet location for you.. Pease Pottage Service Station, M23 J11 RH11 9AE Madiera Drive, Brighton, BN2 1TW It should be a great day for everyone - so if the distances are reasonable for you and you want a great Jaguar sort of Top Gear day please put your name forward for this by posting on here, or emailing me at JaguarForumsUK@solidlinux.co.uk
  9. As promised (subject to the usual..) here's the itinerary for the day - I suspect the timings may change a little but this is fundamentally it - noting that we have Kevin and Tony with us for any questions you may have for them regarding our cars *and* that the owner of 'The Jag Gallery' is opening on the day to give us the opportunity to visit and have a look around should anyone want to. The owner has an E-Type, hence the name of his gallery :-) The days itinerary is listed below for your info, so you know when you need to be where... 08:15 Meet at Pease Pottage Service Station at the base of the M23.08:20 Initial 'Welcome to the Event' greeting, and packs handed out.08:30 Depart in convoy for Brighton (cruising speed 65mph)09:15 Park up in one large parking block in Madiera Drive.09:30-10:30 Big Breakfast in Madiera Cafe (b/fast + tea/coffee for £5 only)10:30 General social events etc. start11:30 Group signings of banner, and group photos for the forums The parking is pay and display at this location and is £1 for an hour, £2 for two hours, £4 for four hours, or £7 for 11 hours (I would suggest for most people the £4 parking option will be sufficient). Your meal will be £5.00 per person.. so hopefully no shocks or surprises if you are on a budget Lastly.... I *am* still working on some other things that may well add to this schedule :-)
  10. 11. Still no feedback regarding newspaper coverage so I have spent this morning hitting a number of suppliers of services and products, that we all use, to see what I can do for the Welcome Packs - I know the Welcome Packs were very thin at the last meet and I want to try to ensure that they actually contain items of real interest or use from this meet on.. I'll let you know how I go :-)
  12. I was already considering looking into if we could get someone from TopGear down for the May meet - quite possibly might not manage it but I was considering giving it a go.... let me know what you guys think OK?.. Meanwhile we are in the last few weeks countdown to the December meet.. Anyone wondering whether to come along or not, undecided as to if you should - why not sign up for it? We have Harwoods Jaguar bringing a showroom car along, a local automatic gearbox specialist attending to answer any questions or worries you may have about your transmission, fixed price big breakfast plus tea/coffee for just £5, a convoy or 'social run' you can participate in, parking in Madiera Drive at £1 an hour, great company, fantastic cars, and a chance to be in the group photo's of this meet! What's to not like? Come on, it's that perfect excuse for cleaning your car, actually cruising for just the sake of cruising, and a great day... just pop a post up on here, or email me at stephen.sheldon@solidlinux.co.uk, or p.m. me... but don't miss out on this great break from the Christmas rush!

  14. Good news - I can confirm that not only will we have Tony from 'Harwoods Jaguar' in attendance with a showroom car, but also Kevin from 'The Automatic Gearbox Centre' will be attending to chat with anyone regarding queries, problems, or just plain curiosity questions about Jaguar Auto Gearboxes. Please make good use of both of them whilst we have them available to us :-)
  15. OK today has been a little quieter (I *have* to do some genuine work at work :-)) but I have been following up with The Brighton Argus newspaper and some useful to know companies that I am hoping will want to supply materials for the welcome packs.. I will update you as I go but yet again I'm not holding my breath :-)
  16. Ok guys, we are all systems go.. I'm still working on things here but we have a great opportunity for anyone wanting a break from the Christmas rush - our Bi-Annual Social Run and Meet! A chance for some time by the seaside (OK I admit it is winter..) a big breakfast, mug of tea or coffee, some great conversation with like minded company, and a chance to look around Jaguars ranging from a 1968 Mk2 through to the latest Jaguar Supercars and even my 'Classic' X-Type should you want to lol Currently we have Harwoods Jaguar in attendance on the day and I am working to try to get newspaper coverage and the local AutoBox Specialist to come along and discuss any issues or queries you may have. If you are undecided - why not come along anyway and get a taste of the event and if you like it you'll only have five months to go until our May event which will without a doubt be even bigger :-) You know you only need an excuse to clean and polish your car, and to show it off to other like minded people.. why not put your name forward and come along? The event is close to the pier and not far at all from the city centre shops making it suitable for petrolheads or families.. even if you have a dog, the location is great for walking your dog.. You know this is the perfect excuse for some you and your car time, or your family and car time... why not put your name forward by posting here?
  17. OK, *finally* I can officially put the legal issues to bed.. I have the response from MSA in my email and it goes as follows: Dear Steve, If the event is non-competitive (such as a touring assembly) and using the public highway, there are no restrictions. If there is a competitive element, even if the competition is on different venues off the public highway & you are just moving from one venue to another – Route Authorisation from this office will be required. Kind Regards David Powell Competition Authorisation Office Motor Sports Association, Riverside Park, Colnbrook, SL3 0HG That's it lol... I am satisfied that we *totally* conform to the regulations and am getting back to everything else
  18. OK guys, I have spent the morning rooting around a number of resources regarding the legal issues of the convoy part of this event and I believe all is OK - we don't have a fixed, laid out route apart for the A23 going to the outskirts of Brighton, there is no competitive element and in both cases we fall out of what appears to be current legislation.. We now have a social run component to the meet which covers things further still. I am now aware of what I have to come in the next couple of years as this event grows but it's in the future and I'll no doubt sort it when the time comes. Sooo I am going back to my to-do list and cracking on with making sure they are done in time.. as soon as I know more about what we can organise for the day I will let you know.. I am currently in progress with the itinery, encouraging the autobox specialist to come along, chasing the local newspaper for coverage and trying to organise welcome packs for everyone. The meal deal is organised, Harwoods Jaguar are onboard, Brighton Tourism & Jaguar World Monthly are listing us as an official event, and the list of attendees is growing :-)
  19. This years winter meet is happening on Sunday 7th December - with a social run down from Pease Pottage Services to Madiera Drive, everyone parking up in one huge block of cars, followed by a fixed price big breakfast to set us up for the morning. I am in the process of organising what I can and a full itinery will be listed in the next few weeks including all and any costs there may be.. so you know everything you need to know before the event. 20. Just to let you guys know - there has been some discussion on JaguarForums.com regarding the legal side of running a convoy.. and I need to tell you that as of now there will not be a convoy component to this event. However we will instead be completing a 'Social Run' component which will be how we all travel from Pease Pottage Services to Madiera Drive So from everyone's perspective everything is still the same and happening no problem, but we are changing the terminology and avoiding the potential need to charge for entry - something I am very much against doing. I believe this event should be free to attend, and any costs during the meet kept as low as possible to enable more people to attend and enjoy it..
  21. The VisitBrighton tourism website has confirmed the meet is now officially listed - Jaguar World Monthly has emailed to say we should be listed there (subject to the usual) in the next issue, and I am waiting to hear back from the Brighton Argus...
  22. Tony from Harwoods Jaguar has confirmed that as long as it is not sold in the meanwhile he will be bringing a showroom F-Type V8 Coupe along on the day for us. Additionally Jaguar World Monthly will hopefully carry our event, and I am waiting on the VisitBrighton website to confirm carrying our event.. Oh yes, I am also having another go at trying to get us in the local press for this as that would potentially give us a huge boost.
  23. OK, I have managed to get the fixed price meal deal sorted.. after the couple of problems we had at the Seagull Restaurant at the last meet I have moved us to the 'Madiera Cafe', just a little further down Madiera Drive, for the December meet. I have negotiated their price down to match the fixed price we had at the last meet of £5 per person for breakfast with tea/coffee. I'll update you as I go with everything else :-)
  24. Hi Phill, I completely understand :-) and you will be very welcome to the next Bi-Annual Convoy & Meet which will be in May 2015. A new thread for the next meet will appear a few days after the December meet. I will be working again on getting Jaguar support for us, along with the usual fixed price meal deal, and local businesses that might be of interest to us plus of course the weather :-) So please keep an eye out on here for the thread when it appears and I will be happy to add you in.. All the best Steve
