  1. Hi. Glad to hear you've had yours 6 years. I bought mine a year ago and have just clocked up a massive 600 miles. Next year im actually going to start using it more lol. Had a bad start with a 2 grand bill for various probs and got the frighteners so just admired it in the garage but sorted now and loving it. On trickle for now and all tucked up
  2. I'm sure you're going to love it. Thats the one thing i miss a sunroof. ( on my S type) Happy motoring
  3. mine too has developed this problem--albeit not too bad. Seems to get worse the hotter they get. I too have been advised that it is the brake pads. Trouble is with mine that it sits idle for long periods. Hopefully going to be a reasonably affordable fix.
  4. yes as said before-go for it. Mines about to be wrapped up for winter on trickle charge
  5. Yikes--thought about p ex ing for a newer 4wd for missus ---2005 2.5 80k looks and drives like new ---offered £ 1300. Can`t do it. its not neccessarily the money it just seems criminal for such a nice car. Think i`ll keep it and go with cash for a discount.
  6. Do you do your own mechanics? ----Err that lump in the front makes it go I think. . Sadly I rely on others. Parts are readily available and my biggest cost so far has been garage labour. When I bought mine I sent it to a Jag specialist who overhauled the suspension and changed a sensor or two which entailed removing supercharger -eek---plus a few other bits --parking sensors, wheel bearing etc.(2K) ..Handling is good and I have made no mods to it. Running on 20 inch BBS wheels which I thought about changing for 18`s to give a more comfortable ride over my very rural roads but haven`t bothered . I only do tiny mileage and keep it for weekend jaunts only. Auto box is fine but I always have autos anyway. ( it is a Jaguar after all ) hope that helps.
  7. ita a monumental leap from S type to XKR (4.0 2002 conv)--I have both. Once you have purchased it just forget about what its worth ( going up in price anyway) and enjoy.Just be prepared It WILL cost you money-LOTS- to keep it running right but thats to expected. I love it -yes its dated and the roof is clumsy etc etc but still makes me smile when I open the garage doors. oh and it goes like stink :)
  8. Having bought one not long ago --I would say price is a wee bit steep for a coupe but consider a good offer. Unless peeps are prepared to travel there aren`t that many around and they are going up in price pretty quick
  9. Hiya--nice looking car there. Try http://www.xk8-parts.com very helpful and has most bits available ( including wind deflector). Cant help with lights as cant see them lol but sure h`ll be able to help. Don`t forget Doune on Sunday.
  10. Go for it if its not silly money--I`m guessing 5k ish --be prepared to spend a few thousand on it and you have a classic thats quickly going up in price and also one of the nicest looking cars ever made. Edit---5k may be on the low side for a 4.2
  11. Gratz---could be the start of a long journey-- I`ve had 6 now.--is there anything else
  12. Gratz on your first Jag. Doubt it will be your last
  13. Actually I really like it. Seeing more and more of this vinyl wrap.
  14. ok Jim --it happened 2005 2.5 V6 80000 miles.Lovely condition. Owned it 5 years ago and saw it advertised on Gumtree and thought it would be fun to buy it back for little money
  15. Have now acquired a daily (S Type). So decided to keep the Xkr for sunny weekends
  16. John, luckily i have a garage so never have to be at the mercy of birds and rain. Appreciate your comments though.
  17. Yup----On reflection probably not the best idea I have ever had..
  18. thanks--yes needs a bit of thought--
  19. Not sure where to post this but..... Toying with the idea of swapping out my 2002 Xkr convertible for a good XK8 4.2 Coupe. Love my car but a convertible being left out is not great as I now want to use it as a daily. 2002 4.0 XKR Convertible 89000 miles. Brand new MOT (this week) Recent spend on suspension and bits (3K)--Lovely condition---Aberdeenshire based Any thoughts welcome
  20. nice one--next on my list perhaps. I have an older one
  21. i have just replaced the A post window rubbers and painted the surrounds -2002 XKR-looks great now --Dreaded MOT next week so we`ll see Replaced standard grill yesterday on wifes 2005 S type with shiny mesh one -----always plenty of jobs to do on these 2
  22. great item above--its worth having a go yourself first then if no good get it done elsewhere. Mine looked just as above but with the same kit and an hours work its all healed and looking good. I also got brave and painted the old cracks -wow what a difference. --recommend
  23. Do not break it up. Stick it on Autotrader __there are plenty of enthusiasts out there
