  1. Lol, cheers guys. I'll fill her up this weekend and find a suitable place to let her loose with the 'S' button activated. Probably a quiet part of the local bypass at 2 in the morning!
  2. If anyones wondering what the eck i'm on about, he's the excert from the Jaguar Technical Service Bulletin TSB S307-11 Growling Noise In 4th Gear During Warmup – V6 Engines - ZF6HP26 Transmission – Reconfigure TCM - 2003 MY-ON S-TYPE 3.0L Some 2003 MY-ON 3.0L S-TYPE vehicles may experience a growling noise during warmup when the vehicle is in 4th gear. This noise is caused by the torque converter. The TCM can be reprogrammed to solve this concern.
  3. sorry about the double post, i'm rubbish with computers.
  4. I waited till I was 52 before I bought an S Type (only a couple of weeks ago) its a 3.0 Sport and that little 'S' button by the gear stick frightens the beejeezus out of me! Why oh why did I wait so long.
  5. Peter, the Evergreen brand is that Wheels n Tyres around the corner from my works are pushing, I'd never heard of them until our boss had them fitted to his Audi about 12 months ago and he says he cant fault them in the wet or dry.
  6. Good job I sold it last week then, it was a 2.1V6 model Peter, and I don't think there were two tyres the same brand on it! I bought it as a stop gap till I found a good S Type at the right price.
  7. I have Continentals at each corner, I doubt that when it comes to replacing I will go for the same..... nothing wrong with them, just a tad pricey. The X Type I had previously had a J spec type fitted and was notably quieter on the round, is it the same with S Types?
  8. Acquired this motor a few weeks ago, and it drives superbly well when warmed up. Until then I'm experiencing a grumbling/rubbing type noise (non metallic) from the rear in 4th and also slight surging in the same gear. Exactly as described in TSB S307-11, as far as I am aware this is fixable with a reprogramming of the TCM as described in the TSB. But....is it really possible that an 03 plated car has survived for this length of time without that being sorted previously? Or...is it more likely the torque converter is ready to give up?
  9. No worries Peter, there is also XJK in Newcastle under Lyme but I've not had any dealings with them as yet.
  10. Stoke on Trent area. The guy who runs this Independent Jaguar Garage was part of the development team at Jaguar for the X & S Types, extremely knowledgeable and does a very professional job. Ask for Andy and tell him Kev sent you! :D AWJ Automotive Sutherland Road Longton Stoke-on-Trent ST3 1HZ Phone: 01782 501415 Fax: 01782 501420 E-Mail This Company www.awjautomotive.co.uk

  17. If anyone sells you a car with an 'S' button by the gear stick, for the love of Mike and all that is holy, don't push it. I nearly crapped meself, it just took off like a bat out of hell at the slightest touch of the accelerator. Need a beer and a long lie down!

  18. I know what you mean bud. I've had enough of this club, i'm off to find another one!!
  19. Hi George many thanks for the info. I've managed to track down a set of 18" spoked X Type wheels along with fitted tyres bud, so should be no problems with the technical side of things. I'm beginning to get a bit disenchanted with these forums, you get loads of folks looking at threads but no one actually seems to reply or comment. Steve is pretty good though, but he does have the whole website to trawl so he's spreading himself a little thin.
