  1. I have a problem with my XF 2.7D the smart key message comes up but will not start even if i insert in the receptor. Have changed battery , didnt work . I called out mobile specialist with laptop and gismos etc and he tried to re- programme but it went halfway on his laptop and would not accept. He suggested main dealer but now have a problem , the car is dead ( battery in boot is fulled charged) and need to get the park brake of and steering lock off HELP !! Regs Jeff

  3. Hi , Thinking of having sunroof fitted into my just purchased XF but cannot decide between Webasto 510 or 530 electric slider. Anyone advise please
  4. I have just succumbed to buying the XF having been a S type diesel owner for some time now and been very reluctant to change. I saw a silver XF Luxury diesel advertised at a very reasonable price and took the plunge, my sad S type still sitting in my drive but relegated to parked at the back waiting for me to advertise it for sale. My first impressions of the XF are not good at all and I nearly jumped back in the S type but can't because it is now not insured. Faults: 1/ The bouncy castle effect over local roads, I cannot believe how it hit's a bump and then seems to want to reproduce it until it hits the next one . Would the Spires kit mentioned on here cure that and is it very expensive ? 2/ Whilst I realised there was no gear lever/selector before I purchased I did not realise how boring this would be with the knob change, which incidently can be very dangerous and costly if you don't take care coming out of sport mode if done too fast. I very nearly went into reverse managed to stop just in time . 3/ Only had the vehicle a week and got DPF full warning on dash, having read about what this means on here and Google making me look at my S type even more with desire as in 8 years never had this warning at all. So all in all not a very happy Jaguar driver at the moment any help / advice gladly accepted and appreciated. Regards
  5. Hi Peter, Thanks for the welcome. Yes the S Type is a unsung hero Jag , in my opinion Jaguar should have ' played around' with the design of the S type and it could have been a truly desirable new model with the classic Jag grille left intact. I have attached a customised S Type that I found on the internet which I believe is stunning and only a small uplift that I am sure Jaguar could have improved even more. Regards Jeff
  6. Your post reminded me of how I felt with my first jag 2.4 Mk 1 with the screw on wheel arches. I was only 20 and everyone was full of doom and gloom warning me about running costs and insurance etc but I still bought it and never driven anything else since. Of course along the way there has been drama's with cost and coming to terms with model changes etc not quite to my liking but I still had to have a ' Jag ' . The best I have ever driven ? It has to be the V12 XJ and a close second the V8 S type these two cars were awesome in performance BUT quite simply not viable on mpg ,I was forever in petrol stations ' filling up ' so sadly they both had to go . I am currently driving a S Type 2.7 diesel which is a very surprising performer for a diesel, and a joy to drive on the open roads on my many trips to France, and for once in 50 years of driving Jags very very happy not spending my driving time always looking for petrol stations, if only they had diesel Jags back in sixties and seventies I'd be a millionaire now. Finally why have I got a S type and not the XF ? simple , I dont like the look of them the design of front and especially back is appalling , with strip lights etc . But that's probably me being old and boring. Jeff
