  1. Thanks Peter, any advise is welcome and I will run that piece past my mechanic when I can get hold of him. kind regards Stevie.
  2. I have a 2001 3.2 ltr xj executive V8, 150k and have owned her for approx. 4 months, in that time she has performed like a dream. Until last night, after leaving work and driven around 2 miles I was doing 60 mph when I felt a shudder, I immediately looked at the dash display which informed me that there was no traction control, then a gearbox fault, something called ASC and that it was now in limp mode, my heart sank. In limp mode (approx 27 mph) I carried on for another mile to a petrol station, switched off the engine and gathered my thoughts, I started the engine again all the same info came up on the dash display so I decided to call the breakdown services to get a hitch to my local garage, about 20 minutes after the call the interior started to mist up, so I thought I would turn on the air con for a few moments so I could keep my eye out for the recovery vehicle. Turning on the ignition on I noticed that the warning display had now gone and all looked normal, I started the engine, all appeared fine, I eased the stick into drive, the gears engaged, forward was fine as was reverse, I decided to wait for the recovery drivers advice as I did not want to get a short way up the road and have it happen again, after another half an hour I had tried the start up procedure several time and all appeared normal when I got a call from the breakdown people to say they had a problem and would be at least another hour. I decided to try to get the 10 miles home and they agreed to call me every 10 minutes as to update on my position should it happen again, The car performed 100% with no hint of the previous fault. Has anyone had this happen to them or any advise on the matter, kind regards Stevie.
