  1. Andrew I have swapped the fuel pump for a second hand one off ebay ( £69 with free shipping ) and it has worked fine for the last week. I had never changed a fuel pump before so having received my replacement i was able to see how the internal fuel lines were to be disconnected (the old ones had been left on by the scrapyard )and they are easy to do .This time i removed all lines and wires from the outside and disconnected the small blue and black connector inside the tank and disconnected the fuel lines that connect to the underside of the tank cover ,This allowed much better access for the pump removal .I released the pump from the bottom then disconnected the 2 fuel lines on the pump itself then jostled it out . There are 2 blue and black connectors inside the tank .The easiest one to get too feeds the near side float level which i think operates the saddle tank pump .(pumps fuel from the left hand side to the RHS where the lift pump is ) The other is on top of the pump (facing the rear)and its wires secured with bayonet type lugs.I suspect it is this one that was/is faulty on mine .I intend to repair them and keep as a spare just in case . I feel that repairing this latter connector whilst inside the tank is VERY difficult hence removed pump I have struggled with this problem for a couple of years so far . I understand that the software will cause the engine to simulate some type of engine fault (no dash warning alert ) after a certain time /running hours to prompt you to have it looked at .It is then set to cut out running engines in order to prevent the high pressure pump from running dry.Needless to say for me this is a safety feature i could live without . I may take some better pics and upload later. Hope all this helps
  2. Yep Just changed mine yesterday £11 from ebay for the pump ,Old one had the filter in the suction and it was not clogged ,New one has the rubber seal but no filter. I parked the jag away from kerb turned to fully right .removed 2 plastic clips holding the wheel arch line and just pulled out the old pump and swapped it over .AND it worked better than before . I also checked the non return valve under the brake fluid reservior cap and it was OK Good luck
  3. does it have voice control and if so does it work ?My voice control on a 2009 XF s was disabled by JAG before i bought it . Though they said it had been serviced , when i checked the air filter it was BLACK.I think it had not been changed in the three years it was serviced by a jag dealership from new Did you buy it ? Mine has been great and still is
  4. Lee My windows became slow but worked for a time ( say 6 months ) then winter hit and they stopped working altogether.I changed mine following youtude video and the push cables were corroded .I think the new ones from Jag cost me £117 but that was several years ago .They took about 1.5 hours for the first one and about 45 mins for the second AND they are still working fine . Good luck with the repair
  5. Lee This is my post from 2014 .The UPDATE is that mine is still going strong with no problems in the last 5 years .Swapping the bust one out was relatively easy.Once i was reconciled to removing the water radiator .If i remember right the hose connections are easy to disconnect/reconnect .What is the price now for an inter-cooler ?.I bought my Jag and parts from Lancaster Jag in Reading My Jag is a 59 plate S and the inter=cooler was slightly modified as i mentioned. Thanks for the try.I have just bought and fitted a new one from Jaguar dealers .part number jc2z 11675 for £196.59 plus VAT (£236). The only difference was on the inter-cooler inlet side and not on the outlet which was the side that bust. When buying i bought a new inlet gasket as advised but they forgot to sell me the 2 new M6 bolts and nuts required for the inlet chamber (40 mm long) .The new inter-cooler does NOT have any captive nuts . Just waiting to buy some new antifreeze but shopping around as Halfords want about £60 for the 12.5 Litres .Can anyone recomend a cheaper supplier ? Also have had to change the drivers side window regulator JC2Z 26989 £113.47 plus VAT (136) but i'll look on other forums to see if this again is a common problem PS will you swap it out yourself ? I am not a mechanic and i managed it over 2 days with going to work as well in the wife's car. I used 2 Axel stands on the front .The hardest part for me was removing the bottom shield as there are several screws that are quite a ways back from the cars front . PPS Just changed the washer pump behind the front rhs wheel for £8 (ebay) so if your having the wheel off you may want to swap this pump as well ,my jag has 58,000 miles
  6. i bought mine from the jag dealer, the whole lifting mech each time .And the new ones are still working fine .I suspect a manufacturing fault . Other problems i've had are :-intercooler manifold split on its off side ,new one has been re-designed with different joint on near side . Fuel level gauge reading zero .I fix this by swiping a strong magnet across the diesel sender unit inside the fuel tank . still got to fix the seat heaters ,Matbe during the lockdown good luck with your repair and be careful with the screwdriver stay safe
  7. Is the pump switched on through the negative wire .If it is the pump will show volts all the time .I have an issue with my jag xf d s which i have not looked at yet
  8. Dear All Jag XF S portfolio 59 plate diesel Fuel level shows ZERO and an alert is shown saying as much. Continued driving as i did after 100 miles car seemed to have a slight engine fault for about 30 miles ,on and off, Then just after i left home one day the engine cut out completely.Found out the car is very heavy on the steering wheel without engine going.Engine restarted after 10 mins and i was able to limp home 500 yds. I now understand that the above is a software preventive measure to keep 5 litres of diesel in system to prevent HP diesel running empty. NOW The S type only has one access point into the fuel tank .I tried the wire repair inside the tank and that worked for about 6 months then it appeared again and the wire repair failed even after several attempts.THEN for some reason i rubbed a magnet up and down several times over the level sensor (At the pivot point of the float arm) and it worked .This repair has lasted 9 months till last week when it failed again BUT the above again worked . The float level is a series of metal fingers that are moved by a magnet attached to the float arm and i suppose that some of them can get caught up over time . I am not a car mechanic just an average DIYer ,Magnet repair takes about 30 mins Hope this helps
  9. 59 plate XF s portfolio Drivers window slugish and works with assistance . In COLD weather window does not move at all . I fixed it with a new lifting mech from Jaguar 7 years ago ,Then it cost £117 and i fitted it myself with 90 mins .Watch you tude vids as i did .Drivers side window has worked very well since then even in cold weather . I had the same issues with the front passenger window 2 years ago and i changed that one as well ,less than an hour this time . BOTH lifting mechs had rusted cables. I am not a car mechanic just an average DIYer so i am glad i did try the repair myself .As i keep my cars for a long time i know what to do if it occurs again and i saved some money.
  10. Peter Thanks for the try.I have just bought and fitted a new one from Jaguar dealers .part number jc2z 11675 for £196.59 plus VAT (£236). 11. Proud XF -S owner BUT Jag XF portfolio S 59 plate 33500 miles .Intercooler has broken .The plastic plenum chamber on the outlet side of the intercooler has split its seam almost all the way round .Could see the split on the top side just with bonnet open .It appears that the seam was not actually welded (plastic) nor does there appear to be any reminants of any glue being there either . Have been told there is no redesigned intercooler so have just bought one from jaguar dealer £230 ish .Comparing the old and new they look identical even upto a potential splitting seam on the chamber . IS THERE A RE-DESIGNED intercooler ? and how can i tell if I have bought an old one or a new one If anyone can help Thanks Dealer says it is out of warranty
