  1. Hi Steven I hope you didn't mind but I ran a MOT check on your new purchase and it showed its Never failed a MOT and as never had a advisory---Great car history . And she looks good " enjoy" Frank
  2. Hi Scott--I would say you are being fobbed off by that garage -A temp gauge is there to tell you the true temp of the engine so should start from cold and then show the temp as it warms up . and like Joe said i think you have a faulty gauge or perhaps a loose connection or faulty sender on the engine .???? You said the garage told you====they have said to me the gauge will do that as it returns to the temp it was at at the last time it was run. That is so funny I have not heard that one before .Ha Ha . I would go back Scott and be careful not to let the engine get too hot until its sorted. Frank
  3. Yes Joe the best advice is to return to the garage I agree. Frank
  4. Hi Joe in another topic Deborah also said ----------"We just had the springs and ball joints change and now the near side drive shaft had gone" ---- So you can nearly bet its the drive shaft I would say. Frank
  5. Hi Deborah ---It sounds as-though its still something out of balance.???/ You say the car is badly shaking ?? does the steering wheel shake in your hands or is it more of the rear end of the car etc --need more info so we can try and help.??? its not a 4 W D is it.??? Frank

  8. Hi Alistair, I,m sure you will find its all down to the fluid flywheel and if the engines hot it doesn't hold you as it does when cooler nothing to worry about some hold better than others .??? Frank
  9. Hi Ian Welcome to the club you will find there will be plenty of members only to pleased to help you. My advice is first of all before talking to a salesman is to check the MOT and past MOT'S using this link all you need is the reg--and make and it will surprise you.??? https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ga=1.167145726.1398065124.1463749831 All the best Frank

  14. Hi Andy and also do a MOT history check before buying to see what its failed on in the past etc -I checked one and it showed it was wearing tires out on the inside edge on both front wheels and failed every year on it -- https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ga=1.167145726.1398065124.1463749831 Frank.

    MOT

MOT yesterday failed on very small amount of corrosion 2in plate welded on cured it .--and the handbrake had too much travel I had another new cable fitted and it was enough to get a pass--but not a complete answer to the problem .??? This is every year all down to the self adjusting lever that adjusts-- but-- as soon as you let it off it needs adjusting again I spoke to a chap who had fitted a new lever and he said it wasn't a lot better ----Then I was told that someone fitted a adjustable lever and cable and no more problems---Has anyone done this that belongs to the club and did it work out OK. ??????? Frank
  16. Hi Brandon ---As I have said in the past to others thinking of buying always check the past MOT's on this link -- https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ga=1.167145726.1398065124.1463749831 its a good indication of the past history of the car .???
  17. Hi Peter I,m sorry to be late wishing you the best on your birthday , So wishing you good health and a prosperous many years ahead . Frank
  18. And another good idea is to run a MOT check on the car and it will tell you the problem's the cars had in the past ????? https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/?_ga=1.167145726.1398065124.1463749831 Frank
  19. Yes Andrew I was the same but I do advise you to drill from the inside out with a small drill 1st as the hole in the under side of the bonnet was a fraction out of the center of the bonnet you can then correct with a larger drill.??? Some people say they do-not look good on the X Type but I think they look great. Frank
  20. Hi David -The one suggestion I will make is that it could be a leaking injector ----It leaks into the cylinder when standing Idle then when you start the car it has to burn the excess off causing the smoke etc . Then its clear to run normally after.?? Frank
  21. Ive never shown a shot of my cat so I thought it about time I did .??? Frank
