  4. Hi Paul I found someone who had the same problem with a X Type and here's what he said :- Dashboard rattle I had the same rattle on my x type and it turned out to be the vents on top near the screen.i just put a couple of spots of superglue on mine and this cured the problem. ????? Frank

  6. Hi Gary This is how my locking system works==== From all doors locked when parked. The fob. 1 press on the unlock button and the drivers door unlocks . 2nd press the passenger door unlocks 3rd press and all doors + boot unlock. Boot can be unlocked on its own with the bottom right hand button. when everyones in and you drive away at about 5 mph all doors lock on there own to stop any one getting in. When you stop the drivers and pasengers door will open from the inside once they have been opened the other doors and boot can be opened. When parked -to lock all doors+ boot - press red button -Top Left once . If you press something wrong the alarm will go off if you do get the key in the ignition as soon as possible to stop it > ??? :D :D Frank
  7. Hi Steve, Like Ken said I would'nt think its the battery because it turned it over OK .??? It sound's as though water has got in some where or is it a fuel problem ???? And it took time to get the fuel up ==Did you run the fuel low before refilling the tank.??? Fuel filter,??? Frank

  10. Hi David ---Welcome---Your problem could be quite a few different things == The first things I would check is the fluid is it a dirty brown ??? If your car has high mileage it would be wise to change the oil.??? Check fluid hoses for bent or damages.??? Is the Drive belt worn or loose .?? Worn steering or suspension joints.??? Has the system got air in it and needs bleeding??? To bleed ==With the front wheels in the strait -ahead position top up the fluid level start the engine then bleed the system by slowly turning the steering wheel from side to side [all the way] a few times --then check the fluid level again as before .??? These are the things that I would do first before thinking of perhaps a new pump.??? Frank

  17. Hi Gary-- she looks in great condition and I like the colour + low milage I would say that points to a careful owner in the past so I wish you happy motoring I love my X Type and I'm sure you will your's. Frank
  18. Hi Bob I found this from another X Type owner so I'm thinking it may help you ???? He had a similar problem, where the microswitch in the rear door lock was intermittantly failing. The interior lights would come on while driving and you got a door open message in the dash. If the switch failed while the car was locked, the alarm would go off. Ended up replacing the whole lock assembly, because the switch is integral to the lock assembly. Also found lock assembly on ebay £20or £30 if needed.??? Frank
