Hi Tony Welcome to the club. 1st thing Can you hear anything from that door when unlocking the car.???? If not I would look for - -broken or disconected wiring or connection.??? -- then --a broken or disconected lock rod .??? can you move the working parts or is it seized.??? Frank

Hi Tom Yes I can see it can be a bit worrying but I still think its OK. ---But saying that its spewing stuff from the exaust ----is it clear water or oily.???? ----are you loosing water and having to top up.???? ----has the car been standing for a time .??? Frank
-
Hi Tom I think you will find this quite normal I think you will find its the hot exhaust gases going into a cold exaust system and once everything gets to running temp it will be clear.?? Frank

Hi Paul I really like that looks great. Frank

Hi Michael. Before you fit a pump I would check the Power Steering pressure switch .?? I found this----The pressure switch senses the demand on the pump at low engine speeds and increases the engine speed to a pre-set minimum.??? So it could perhaps be the switch.???? Frank

Hi Thomas I looked it up and== It tells me in the S type manual that -"The lower ball joint is serviceable and is a press fit" .??? It says that the lower control arm -Is mounted with one Hydro-bush [the front one] and a rubber bush both are seviceable.??? But the upper control arm you have to purchase the complete arm.???? I hope this helps. Frank

Hi Robert If holding your foot on the brake and the pedal goes down ,If there is no leaks anywhere I think you will find it to be the master cylinder leaking back past the seals and back into the chamber--Master cylinder -E-Bay==£35. And have you "seen" this about gear box fault the same the same as your problem---- RE: Problems with S type auto gear box It is the shift cable. It just needs adjusted You need a15/16 wrench and vice grips. Fung fu grip the center console off the car. Put it in neutral. Then put the vice grips just behind the nut, on the metal. Back off one of the nuts a little, then tighten the other side. It will move the cable inside. Then put it from neutral to reverse and back to neutral and back to drive. The distance between R-N and N-D should be the same. The letters should light up at same distance I mean. If it isnt, go the other direction. If you are not comfortable doing that, have someone else do it. But it is just an adjustment. If needed I have a more detailed way to do it .I will put it up if wanted.???? Frank

Hi Darren Let me also welcome you to the club, I had the ABS light on with my X Type and after a check was told it was the O/S/F so I fitted a new sensor but it still didnt work I was advised that it could be the control module --Then a fitter I know said go for the cheapest first and he took the wire assembly from under the wing and tested it and said its the wire i got a new one off E-Bay for £8 and fitted it without taking the wheel off and everything was perfect---. So I would say go for the cheap way first why disturb or fit new when they are not the problem.?????? Frank

Hi Gary This is how my locking system works==== From all doors locked when parked. The fob. 1 press on the unlock button and the drivers door unlocks . 2nd press the passenger door unlocks 3rd press and all doors + boot unlock. Boot can be unlocked on its own with the bottom right hand button. when everyones in and you drive away at about 5 mph all doors lock on there own to stop any one getting in. When you stop the drivers and pasengers door will open from the inside once they have been opened the other doors and boot can be opened. When parked -to lock all doors+ boot - press red button -Top Left once . If you press something wrong the alarm will go off if you do get the key in the ignition as soon as possible to stop it > ??? :D :D Frank

Hi Steve, Like Ken said I would'nt think its the battery because it turned it over OK .??? It sound's as though water has got in some where or is it a fuel problem ???? And it took time to get the fuel up ==Did you run the fuel low before refilling the tank.??? Fuel filter,??? Frank

Hi David ---Welcome---Your problem could be quite a few different things == The first things I would check is the fluid is it a dirty brown ??? If your car has high mileage it would be wise to change the oil.??? Check fluid hoses for bent or damages.??? Is the Drive belt worn or loose .?? Worn steering or suspension joints.??? Has the system got air in it and needs bleeding??? To bleed ==With the front wheels in the strait -ahead position top up the fluid level start the engine then bleed the system by slowly turning the steering wheel from side to side [all the way] a few times --then check the fluid level again as before .??? These are the things that I would do first before thinking of perhaps a new pump.??? Frank
