Can you believe I’ve just had a bulb die. Maybe a couple of weeks before I get the chance to replace it but I’ll upload a video on YouTube showing how the actual bulb comes out of the unit and a link to this guide. You were wise to pay the £100 for the bulb as the £23 EBay ones are plagued with circuit board failures. I’ll be going for the Osram ultra life 10 year guarantee

If memory serves the bulb turns only a little then slides sideways. I remember because I got stuck on that one too.

I'm using the 2015 maps, the maps are much better however the traffic is still a pain in the butt. I turn that function off -
Wiring

Solved After this speaker stopped working again I did some fault finding and found something that led me down the garden path so its share time When the system screen boots up I was getting a small fizz for half a second from all speakers including the non working speaker. This told me the speaker must be connected to the amp. I found the below wiring diagram and unplugged the multiple plug, I then used a tester and found the resistance on both working and non working circuits to be the same 2 ohm. I then swapped the two speakers over and found the speakers are fine. Must be the amp I here you say Errr no! I then removed the wires with there pins from the multi plug and swapped left with right as to move the fault to the other side. You guessed it the fault remained on the same side. I then came to the conclusion that even though the resistance of the two circuits read the same it could only be the wiring. Bingo running a new cable solved the issue and no longer get the fizz sound on screen boot up too.

I can only imagine that cutting wires is not in Jaguars vocabulary it would more likely be changing the unit they are attached to.
-
I get the impression it's a corrosion problem and probably the plug could be cut off and wires joined. If you do get more problems have a hunt around the fuel tank to see if there is an external plug, I would be very surprised if a simple plug was inside the fuel tank where it could obviously get soaked in fuel.
-
Hi Anthony he said it was about £600 as the fuel tank needs to come out.
-
Two of my friends have the 2010 XF and both have had this problem, one of them had the "it seems to have fixed itself scenario" but it did come back again and again. Both had the fuel sender replaced to fix the problem. I have read that it's a common fault but it's not the sender with the issue but the wiring attached to it (plug) I'm not sure if this plug is inside or outside the fuel tank though.

If you think changing the headlight bulbs on the face lifted XF would be the same easy 3 bolts as the previous model your in for a shock! First off as before the headlamp unit must be removed, however once the bolts have been removed the unit will not fit though the hole. (not even close) also the bolt that you could see inside the wheel arch is now behind the arch cover Remove the two bolts from the front of the unit remove the three bolts on the inside of the wheel arch and cable tie back to the wheel Remove the two bolts on the inside of the arch cover, one for the headlamp unit and one that clamps the bumper to the wing Remove the five bolts that hold the front grill to the car to allow the grill to flex out Pull the bumper at the wing down only as there are two locating pins attached to the bumber The unit can now be removed but dont forget to unplug the unit. My 2011 face lifted has D3S Bulbs not the DS1 That Halfords help desk had on file for the newer shape upto 2014 After all that changing the bulb will seem like child play.
-
I can confirm the headlight bulb in my XF is a D3S and not the D1S that Halfords has on file for my year. Glad I checked now
-
Update: I will be removing one headlight tomorrow to put this to rest once and for all. The majority of web sites say it's A D3S however Halfords in store help desk say its D1S

Hi all I want to change the colour temperature of the HID bulbs in my xf to 10000k (blue tint) but can't seem to nail what bulb type it has. After some searching online I get mixed results. H7 ( this is not an HID bulb anyway ) D1S D3S I'm sure it would say it on the bulbs but don't fancy removing the headlight unit just to see a bulb type then removing it again to swap them out. It's a 2011 portfolio one of the first Face lifted models. Thanks

Ok so I found some time to remove the door card as I also wanted to sort the common door rattle. I could not see anything wrong with the speaker wiring so continued to fix the rattle. After refitting the door card and reprogrammed the auto window thing, I found the speaker now works.

Don't get me wrong I love this XF it has all the bells and whistles but I think it will be my last Jag.

5 Months to get my car booked in for a thumping noise then took 7 days to say it was a bad tyre. Shocking

Thanks for your reply Trevor. Not that happy with my stealership At the moment. I'll have the door card off at some point and post my findings.

Hi all i've found one drivers side speaker is not working (middle one). I'm trying to find out if the 3 speakers in the drivers door use the same audio wiring feed or do they have there own separate amp feed. if they use the same feed it would be a simple wire/speaker fault find as the other two are working fine. however if they have there own separate amp feed it could be an amp fault. XF Face Lifted Bowers & Wilkings 1200w system any ideas? Thanks Ian

Playing movies from USB

I have updated my navigation to 2015 from navigation.com and it also changed some graphics not related to the navigation part. I can only assume the entire touch device gets updated. I had high hopes I'd get the DAB radio option after the upgrade but I didn't. Will your system play a DVD if you put one in. -

Sorry Trevor for the extremely late reply. The DVD start up is what I would consider normal. I think the system scans the video file before it starts as short video files start much faster than full movies. Maybe the file quality is too high resulting in larger files to scan. -

How strange. I thought DBA was standard on the face lift but I don't have that button What model do you have Sammi? -
After reading this I gave my XF a good clean out today. Woooosh great fun, flappy paddles the lot!
