  1. Very nice indeed
  2. Here it is against the original
  3. Its a custom made stainless steel exhaust. Slightly more of a burble than standard. I bought it second hand on ebay for £75 and cost just under 500 new. Fitted it now and looks nice
  4. This was mine. Despite the previous owner alway taking it to main stealer for a service. But they dont even check it unless its due on age or milage.
  5. My ac is always left on auto.when I first got mine I was only getting 21mpg due to the air filter being all black and clogged up
  6. I average 23 to and from work. Which is mostly town driving
  7. Just picked this up on ebay and is coming up well after a good clean and polish
  8. Lovely s-type. I like the colour coded side markers (reflectors) never seen that before
  9. Excellent. Keep them coming
  10. Hi Peter. Love the car and the best wheels in my opinion. My cousin said he has had an awful of people wanting it done. And in most cases wont affect the emissions he can also reprogram the ecu. H cuts it out and re welds it so providing the emissions are ok it should pass. dad does very few miles in his and gives it a good blast on the motorway. Martin
  11. Funny yoy say that about acid dipping them. My cousin who owns green end garage in great holland by chance has exactly the same wheels hes refurbing to go on a jag he has for sale.I went there with my dad to see about getting the diesel particulate filters removed from his XF. Anyway he had his dipped and its certainly stripped the paint but has left the whole of the alloys rough and needs a tremendous amount of sanding/filling. I guess being a fairly soft metal the acid has eaten its way into the surface of the alloy. I got one of them wire star attachments for the angle grinder for the second wheel and seems to be a lot easier.
  12. Thankyou Charlie. I thought I would get the worst corroded wheel finished first which took nearly 10hrs of sanding alone. Im quite impressed with the finish overall but its not perfect. I have also been underneath it this week sorting some of the flaky paint with good old hammerite and waxoil. Worst area was where the rear towing eye screws in.
  13. And the wheels im part way through refurbing.
  14. Right guys ive had a look for a topic like this and couldnt find one. I thought it may be good to have a topic where we can show off our pride and joys. Heres my 2003 3.0 s-type after its 10th wash, wax and detail in two months! ( yes I know a bit obsessive )
  15. Just as a bit of useless information. Those reflectors are lights for the us market hence why they have left them as reflectors for other countries ive thought about getting some from america and have a go at wireing them up
  16. Could be a crank sensor as they can give you bad mpg way before they throw a code out. Tanks are plastic on s-type well is on mine anyway. May benefit on a plug change and general service. Check your airfilter yourself as main dealers wont even look at them anymore unless its due on milage. my ac is always on and I get 23mpg round town 3.0
  17. Not at all I thought it was strange myself. As soon as the I got the letter the plates went on anyway and a call to the insurance company and I was legal. I guess most people also want them on pretty quick to.
  18. Just re-read the letter. And no date...
  19. I got my personal reg and documents back from DVLA last week. When you get all the stuff back (took just under two weeks for mine) it surprisingly didnt give a date that the new plates starts from just states to put the new ones on as soon as possible. I already got the plates made off of one of the many plate sellers on ebay without needing to send them any documents
  20. Peter as a bit of history on my escort, my dad was the first owner back in 72. He traded it in in 73 for a mk3 cortina. I bought the car back in 2004 after seeing it on ebay. Its a 1300 sport and only 16 registered on the road. Still has the aerial he fitted as it didnt originally have a radio.
  21. I bought these last week to refurb. Id say £80 is a really good price as I paid a few hundred for these!.
  22. I fitted brembo rear discs and pads a few weeks ago £120 fitted myself about half hour a side. Painted the edges of the disc with a zinc primer to help stop them rusting. Honestly cant believe the price they gave you. There no different to any other car brakes to do except having to reset the epb
  23. My 03 s-type 3.0 also has a faint squeak when turning the wheel. Altough it sounds like its coming from the steering wheel. Can only really hear it with the radio off so doesnt really bother me
  24. Are thease the wheels that are on ebay Luke?
  25. May sound daft but sure the tensioner needed undoing? As the last one I did (ford 2.3 scorpio) I just had to put a spanner on and push down enough to lever tensioner enough to get the belt on.
