  1. Gentlemen, Ladies It is with great regret that I am forced with great regret to offer my resignation to the club in the position of moderator. I have extremely difficult circumstances going on in my life at present which forces me to not have much time to devote to the club. 1. My Father is terminally ill, not knowing when the time is due. 2. I am working long hours 200 miles from home. 3. When I get home at weekends I have to devote my time without neglect to my wife and family whilst visiting my Father in hospital some 24 mile from our home. 4. I have just moved house with a years worth of unpacking boxes With all the aforementioned reasoning I am sure you will understand I am under undue pressure and therefore, cannot commit to any further activity. I will always be a veiwer of the forum and will partake whenever possible and I'm sure would be more active when the pressure is lifted from me. Good luck to all of you and enjoy your motoring, please look out for my XKR with the registration KEN 33Y and give me a wave as we pass
  2. Wheel bearing maybe
  3. Any other clues Steve like is it only on full lock or what type of noise I.e. Squealing etc. Is it coming from back or front, near or off side?
  4. Any photographs Danburydale? What are the condition? What are the offsets? What are the wheel widths i.e font 8.5 rear 9.5 etc what did they come off and lastly how much.

I purchased the COMMA diesel injector and emission cleaner from Halfrauds. There were more expensive ones but that poured into a tank of diesel with a blast seemed to do the trick. Stopped my engine management coming on, like yourself I got fed up with it resetting the fault code every five minutes.

Have you considered an additive. I done so for my CLK Merc and it done wonders.
  7. It would appear the XF is a sealed life transmission fluid however, that would go against my principles. Comma would have the answer to which grade for you.
  8. Not very helpful then Nev. Peter has suggested a good source however, if not of any assistance try the Castrol website
  9. I do Peter from my days with J W & E Morris where I was an Electrical Engineer.
  10. Hi Rob, Unfortunately I have exactly the same problem with the passenger seat in my XKR and like yourself being an electrical engineer went straight to the fuses. I suspect a wire snag or plug / socket issue. When weather improves I intend to remove seat to take a look. If you find anything in the meantime please let me know.

  13. My insurance XKR 4.2 V8 supercharged full no claims bonus £269 Admiral multi car policy. Merthyr Tydfil a reason priced place to live
  14. Peter, I will make every effort in tempting the Jaguar Owners Club members to meet in Swansea now that the warmer weather is approaching so that we can all take in the fantastic twisty roads of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons for which Hammond and Clarkson could often be found. Actually met Hammond myself on the A4059 between Penderyn and Cantref
  15. Jim, I do feel it must be pointed out that it is most not only for a moderator to make a new member of what we believe to be a great club welcome morso, it is for every member to ensure such. It most definitely is not the purpose of this club / forum to intensionally frighten one or another in any way or form with any topic. The purpose of the club is for one and all to assist each other with any issues that may arise being the owner of such a grand marquee. For instance by profession I am an Electrical Engineer and would be more that happy to assist if anyone encounters any electrical issues however, I also have under my belt a degree in law therefore would be in a suitable position to assist anyone with any motoring laws such like The Road Traffic Act [1988] which would cover speeding offences and the like. In actual fact I have held the position of moderator to a forum that dealt with speeding laws and scameras and gained a lot of knowledge whilst doing so even, making representation within the Courtrooms for members. This is most definitely a club for comradeship to like minded people for whom should stick together assisting one and all. If any member wants to show off their cars then I'm all for it, I'm proud of mine and would like to participate a little more in club meets etc. Last year I offered to organise a South Wales meet taking our cars around what Clarkson, Hammond and May used for the testing of vehicles whilst on Top Gear like I did for the SL Club however, there was no interest. Shame the Black Mountains and The Brecon Beacons offer some fantastic driving roads whilst the Hotels for social gatherings are second to none in Swansea at very good rates.
  16. A club for like minded people who wish to share experiences that may assist others no matter what age or gender.
  17. The important bit to argue his case; Was the vehicle advertised "Sold as seen" or words to that description. If I could see sight of the original advertisement then I could possibly build a case against his argument of you should have inspected the vehicle prior to purchasing. There is many arguments within the Sale of Goods Act [1979] and sellers responsibilities that would work in the purchasers favour however, the advertisement portrays the full picture.
  18. Just like Peter have explained I also have always kept and passed on receipts for work done along with MOT certificates for all of my vehicles. Again if he has something to hide then the probabilities are then he has not passed them on to you. The legal side of matters is a grey area although, I am an Electrical Engineer by profession I have studied law part time in the University of Glamorgan and it is very vague area and likewise can go either way. The one thing that goes in your favour over and above what your Barrister friend has advised is that the judiciary uses the terminology reasonable. For example, would it be reasonable for a buyer to believe the seller when he has stated the vehicle to be in good mechanical condition? Would it be reasonable for the seller to hide the fact that there was a known problem with the turbo pulley by lubricating it with a well known anti squeak and quietening fluid? etc. Have you any evidence to whom fitted the the brake pads and discs i.e. was it the owner if so then you can put it to him in a Courtroom "What qualifications do you hold to perform such a task" The judiciary frowns on DIY expecting a tradesman to perform tasks to a reasonable satisfactory condition. Don't be nervous of the Courtroom especially small claims they are there to assist and resolve such issues.
  19. Hi Paul, have you any specific major faults for which you are attempting to trace? Would it be mechanical or otherwise. You can obtain the mileage readings year by year from the VOSA website to identify correct speedo readings etc and quite often the MOT station whom performed the test that may give you an indication as to where the previous owner went for his / her servicing etc therefore, a good place to start in search of answers. Good luck, let us know how you get on.
  20. If you need any assistance with electrical design Paul then I am here to assist if need be. How do you get your signature correct mine has gone off on a world of its own, only half the Jaguar is displaying
  21. Looks like Paul has done a very good drawing anyway.
  22. Well done to Paul then. Same goes to you Paul if you wish to sketch out the circuit diagram I will draw it up on CAD then pdf for the club's archives
  23. When you have proved it working Ian sketch me a circuit layout and I will draw it up on CAD for others to undertake, with your permission of course.
  24. Good luck Ian, let us know how you get on. I cannot understand why these so called professional design engineers with car manufacturers spending millions on design not just Jaguar but the like of Mercedes also (I performed the same mod on a SL) cannot get this right from the concept. My wife's little Citroen DX3 folds the mirrors inwards when she locks the car. Come on, it it not rocket science to install a relay with a coil feed from the auto lock mechanism feeding the voltage to a mirror fold.
