  1. Apologies Bob, cannot help you there I've had no experience or contact with the X Type
  2. Mileage Mark? Bolt on wings are so easy mate back to the good old days, I changed the wing on my SL55 which was also bolt on much better than the mig or tig welding
  3. It sound as if I would need the references to look up which electrical diagram I would need.
  4. Same happened to me many years ago Gerrard in my then Mini Cooper "S" (a proper one) when the milk was bought in glass bottles. Like an idiot following the purchase I placed it on the passenger seat until yes you have guessed I had to brake hard, spilt milk everywhere in the front passengers footwell. For all those who know the early Cooper S (mine was 1969) there were no electric windows so I drove around with the windows open for what seemed like ages and it was winter. Never forget that smell and would never transport milk like that again.
  5. Hi Les and welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club. Can I respectfully request you read my previous post to resolve the issue. I've got to assume that in your case the interior light is staying illuminated for the reason that it would drain the battery. I would not expect a door switch alone to be the cause of such a drain. The switch and its connections should be verified to be functioning and this can be proved quite easily by the use of a multimeter or similar.
  6. Can I suggest firstly a Valet Gerard requesting the leather gets treated at the same time. Obviously mention to the valeted before employing him/her that the main reason for wanting the task undertaken is to rid the vehicle of the odours left behind by the previous owner smoking. Good luck
  7. Hi Mick, I have no doubt that I would be able to assist you there if I had sight of a wiring diagram for your model. If you have the workshop manual then can you and me a link to the diagram?
  8. Hi Gerrard and welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. The members here are ever so helpful and friendly and will be only to pleased to answer any questions that may arise along the course of your ownership/membership.
  9. Not quite sure if the wording "fortuitously" is the relevant wording however, it appears to fit in with my advice of taking it along to a body shop so good luck.
  10. Hello JX and welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club. It is not a big job to resolve the issue with your windows however can become a little tricky. When I have done it in the past it has been a case of removing door cards etc which never seem to go back on the same. Personally I would take it along to a body shop who would be used to such issues, as Peter said don't take it to the main dealer who will only attempt to charge silly money for what can only be described as a simple job.
  11. Hi Brent and welcome to the Jaguar Owners Club. I've not got the answers you seek however, like Peter stated I'm sure the is someone with such knowledge, good luck.
  12. Hi Sean, obviously what both Tom and Peter have said must be considered however, being an electrical engineer I would aim for the door switch and check that it is working correctly by using a multimeter and performing an ohms check across it when its both open and closed and the checking the wiring connections at the switch. Its very often the case that all the door switches including the boot switch is wired in series however, in your case and you only having problems with 1 door I suspect that your problem lies with either the switch or connections attached to it. Welcome to The Jaguar Owners Club
  13. You might want to consider Halfords! if you purchase the blades from there they will fit for a small cost, that is if you trust your local Halfrauds :-)
  14. K&N usually gives that little extra sound also
  15. Peter, Steelworker? riveting:-)
  16. As with all cars I would have put it down to the cooling down period as Ron has suggested.
  17. Hi Mike and welcome to 'THE JAGUAR OWNERS CLUB' Not having owned and had nothing to do with the X type I have no idea to the answer to your question however, what I would be tempted to do is as suggested earlier cross reference the parts. I would visit the EBC or similar website and look up the discs etc for your model X - Type then the exact same for the Mondeo you have in mind. If both part numbers are alike then its likely that they are the same fitment. Maybe worth checking with more than one brake manufacturer though to be absolutely sure.
  18. When I did used to take my cars (usually company cars) to the main dealer for servicing I had very little or indeed no trust in their honesty and marked components, air filters, plugs, etc with a marker pen, that way I was in the position of approaching the service manager with evidence stating what is this bull$hiI
  19. Hi Jason, think its now time to have the car looked at professionally buddy. Suggest you locate an Independent garage near to you.
